After a long overdue rehab of Daytona, all 100,000+ seats have sold out for
Sundays race! Rookie driver Chase Elliot who is the new driver of the #24 car
starts from the poll. Really very impressive!
Will Hendrick cars go 1,2 and3 or will JGR teams step up and claim the win?

Silly, What at great finish at Daytona today! Even though I've always been a Chevy guy Toyota sure dominated today! I give Jeff Gordon an A+ for his first day of commentary in the booth!

starting next year, Stewart-Haas is going to Ford. They raided Hendricks #1 chasis
person this season. Hendrick for the rest of this season will still use the Hendrick
horsepower. It will be interesting to see how this parting of the ways will
workout for the rest of this season.

Silly, mark my words, if Toyotas continue to dominate early in the season NASCAR will come out with a new rule to penalize them to allow Fords and Chevys to catch up. This is the main thing wrong with NASCAR in motor sports! There is no other sport on the planet that changes rules like NASCAR does after a season begins.

I agree with you Tommy on that point!
The race at Atlanta will feature the low down force rules. This should make for
great racing. Also look for many pit stops in this race.

Right you are, Atlanta is a very fast 1 1/2 mile track.

Bobby LaBonte use to own this track when he drove for Joe Gibbs.

I always like both Bobby and Terry. I remember when Ironhead wrecked Terry twice
at Richmond? The first time Terry won, the 2nd time Earnhardt won. You could hear the
crowd booing him! Surprised that Texas Terry didn't kick his a** afterwards!

Do you remember when Dirty Dale #3 spun Terry out on the last lap at Bristol and got the win? Any other driver would have had to forfeit that kind of win But NASCAR needed the intimidator in the black #3 at that time to boost the ratings.

I could not remember where that was done! I remember watching those races on tv.
Kyle Petty did say something about Ironheads driving.

so Tommy who do you have going into the hall this year?

Silly, I'm pretty confident that Jimmie Johnson will pass Jeff Gordon for 3rd place in all time wins before he retires but do you think he can pass David Pearson for 2nd in all time wins? I don't think he can unless he gets on one of those Jimmie rolls that he has been known to do in the past.

The silver fox has never been overlooked by me since I've seen him pull out many wins live that I thought he had no chance to win. You and I both know that Jimmie and Chad are going to eventually break up and when that happens I think Jimmie will be lucky to get any wins. In other words, Jimmie needs to get to 100 wins ASAP if he wants to have any chance of catching the silver fox.

It's also good that three different car manufacturers have won the first three races so NASCAR doesn't have to make up new rules as they go so far.

"Happy" Harvick wins in a photo finish for his 8th win in Phoenix. Two out of four photo finishes ain't bad in the four NASCAR big boy's league to start the season even though the chase rules still suck.

Silly, You're exactly right and that's what racing should be all about like in the old days when there was no power steering with David Pearson and Cale Yarborough exchanging clean body damage with each other off the 4th turn on the last lap to get to the finish line.

There are a lot of tragic endings in the NASCAR family. Just look at Davey Allison who was destined for stardom who drove for my good friend Robert Yates. Every time I see Robert he says "What If?" and then we go on to another topic.

Kyle Busch has moved the futures market in Las Vegas. Three weeks ago he was 10 to 1 to win the 2016 Sprint Cup Championship. Now the current odds are:

Jimmie Johnson 5 to 1
Kevin Harvick 5 to 1
Kyle Busch 5 to 1

Looks like Jeff Gordon might drive 1 more time at the brickyard for the #88 team
if Jr. fails the concussion testing.

Silly, I've heard the same thing from a few sources in the know who are a part of NASCAR. Based on what I've heard Jr. doesn't consider racing fun anymore and he has enough business interests outside of racing to keep him busy full time. I'm sure he is also thinking about staying healthy since he is still pretty young.

Correction: Jeff Gordon to drive at both Indy and Pocono.
Sales are currently soft for the Brickyard 400.

I see that five race cars owned by Earnhardt, Jr. are listed for sale on e-bay.

Silly, you might be on to something that Junior might be getting out of the racing business soon. Maybe he is tired of trying to live in the shadow of his hall of fame racing daddy along with his injuries. He is still young with plenty of money and lots of businesses to run so I wouldn't blame him at all for calling it quits in racing. Besides that he has now started a family of his own.

I hope that he keeps his Infinity teams.
In the next few years, all of the drivers that we know will be moving to another
life phase.

I agree Tommy with what you said about JR. The fans of NASCAR love him.
I hope that he keeps his Infinity teams.

Silly, Almost all of the drivers have mansions on Lake Norman which is near Charlotte where most of their racing shops are. Rick Hendrick's shop is so clean you could eat off the floor where the cars #5, #24, #48, and #88 are put together. Even the drivers who consistently finish 20 to 30 in the final standings are multi-millionaires and most NASCAR drivers are at their peak in performance at age 29 so you are correct, drivers that we know will be moving to another life phase and I don't blame them.

so there continues to be no good news on JRs return. This is kinda stealing away some of smokes thunder.
congrats to Chris Buscher on getting his 1st career win at Pocono.

Silly, One thing for sure that we are seeing unfold in this story is Jeff Gordon's dedication and loyalty to Rick Hendrick by agreeing to continue to race the #88 when he would prefer to remain retired. There would be no future hall of famer Jeff Gordon without Rick Hendrick and Jeff hasn't forgotten this.
