Wondering if my granddad is still interested in moving someplace other than Hampton Roads. He is the only thing still keeping me here. At 89 he wants to be close to what is left of the family, even though they don't visit him, and he can't drive anymore

story I read from FB

An 85-year-old man had to take a sperm count for his physical exam. The doctor gave the man a jar and said, “Take this jar home and bring back a sample tomorrow.”

The next day the 85-year-old man reappeared at the doctor’s office and gave him the jar, which was as clean and empty as on the previous day.

The doctor asked, what happened and the man explained.

“Well, doc, it’s like this–first I tried with my right hand, but nothing. Then I tried with my left hand, but still nothing. Then I asked my wife for help. She tried with her right hand, then with her left, still nothing. She tried with her mouth, first with the teeth in, then with her teeth out, still nothing. We even called up Arleen, the lady next door and she tried too, first with both hands, then an armpit, and she even tried squeezin’ it between her knees, but still nothing.”

The doctor was shocked! “You asked your neighbor?”

The old man replied, “Yep, none of us could get the jar open.”

a msg I got on here today...

My Name is John and i am new on this site, though I'm not that comfortable with making the first approach and so I don't usually send out many messages. But, looking at your profile, I thought this time it might be worthwhile to send a few lines to you because i am Fascinated with your Pictures and Profile, and You're like a fine whiskey - a knock-out in small quantities! lol. We really do seem to have a lot in common and it will be My pleasure to know you more probably get closer to you. If you feel the same way, I would enjoy getting in touch with you. You can text me on this number{(917) 830-6763} or probably dropped your phone number so i can contact you. I can't wait to read back from you and maybe we can share a life together, thanks . John.

If you want some humor, look at my profile and then reread this msg. There is not 1 picture of me on my profile, nor is there any information of me other than the DH questions I answered.

I'm so sorry

This diagnosis is brand new and we are already facing, it is terminal w/a life expectancy of June. The hard thing is, they have not been ill, they don't look terminal, and it's happening at a rapid rate. We'll know more on Monday but it's tough taking all this in.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Attitude will play a huge role going forward. I've known people diagnosed and give up and gone in no time. Others given months, and lived life and fought and have a couple good years. I hope the most positive scenarios come out of this for all involved. Always got an ear ifn one's needed to bend.

Amy, no! If I had a life expectancy of June, DH is the last place I'd be!

Ron's dad is relatively healthy, 72 years old. He went for a blood test (part of physical) and some panels were way off. They sent him to an Oncolgist and he had a CT scan. It showed spots in his lung, pancreas and a large tumor in his liver. Nothing is looking good. He received the prognosis of, with what we are facing.. he may have until June. Ron's dad called a family meeting on Monday, for his kids to fly in to discuss, his end of life plan.

It's shocking and so out of left field. Ron seems to be "avoiding" the diagnosis. I think he's in shock and trying to process everything being thrown at him. His dad has always been his "hero" and I can only imagine how this loss will devestate him.

I can't wrap my brain around how you can look ok, feel ok and be dying in 2 months. Had he not gotten the blood test he'd just become super sick and pass?

I know. It's hard to wrap your mind around getting news like that. Especially when there hasn't been many symptoms or any at all. Just have to cherish those in your life every chance you can because it is so fleeting and quick. I hope, that the time left for yall, is spent well and there is little pain throughout for him.

I had a business acquaintance, who I thought wasn't a huge fan of mine. I always felt he tolerated me as much as he could.

My company closed and I was looking for a new job. Had no clue what I wanted. I moved and everything in my world was in turmoil through this transition.

Out of nowhere this acquaintance calls me. Tells me a friend called him because a client needed someone amazing, who had certain qualifications and had to come highly recommended. He said, hands down he could only think of me. (This info. shocked me). I said I'd contact the client. I met the client and landed the job. Hence, the beginning of my new career. I called my acquaintence to thank him but his phone was disconnected. I emailed him, nothing..Finally, I contacted a person who had worked with him.

Apparently he had had stomach cancer, had his stomach removed (did not know this was possible) and two weeks later passed. In his misery, his act of kindness changed my life.

You never know what anyone is going through.

That is very true. And you also never know how you affect someone's life, positive or negative. That story would leave me to believe that you have a positive effect on people. Sometimes folks are just the quiet type and you don't realize it until something happens.

Oh Sandi I'm so sorry. It's hard to comprehend, my dad passed of biliary cancer in 04, his story was somewhat the same as %Ron's father he was putting on a t-shirt one morning and ended up breaking his collar bone, they ran test at the hospital and found the cancer, which has spread throughout his body and into his bones. He had been feeling fine. They gave him 2 weeks and we were blessed with 2 months. Cherish the time left with him.

Ity, that is so awful. I'm terribly sorry. Thank you for sharing that. It helps me understand, this is how certain types of cancers are.

I have not had anyone in my family go through cancer of any kind. I'm trying to learn, as much, as quickly as possible. I also have to figure out how to help Ron through this. I know I need to be there but also give him his own space to deal with it. My heart breaks for him.
