I'm curious how many have experienced cancer in their lives, type of cancer, sex of person with cancer, age (they were diagnosed) and what state they are, or lived in.

I guess I am lucky and only know one.

More than a few
I have a uncle who had skin cancer. He use to be a welder and he didn't wear the proper protective gear while welding and ended up getting skin cancer. He got treatment of course but he is always in pain.
Also I have an aunt who had breast cancer and it wasn't detected at an early stage. The damaged tissue was too great and as a result they had to cut off the entire breast. And then I have a friend my age who somehow got cancer in his foot. While the damaged tissue was able to be removed without him losing his foot, he has complete numbness in his foot and must use a walking stick or cane just to get around. And then I know of alot people who just didn't think of protecting themselves while working different jobs. Breathing in chemicals used to melt down plastics or exposing themselves to copper dust and exposing themselves to high doses of radiation. They just didn't use the proper protection when exposing themselves to harmful stuff and as a result some form of a cancer developed.
I can't recall ever having sexual relations with someone who had cancer.

My first was with my friend Cindy. She died when we were 13 of leukemia only a few months after finding out.

Mr. Johnson, a leader at the church I went to as a teen. During his treatments, his daughter, Pamela, was exposed to chemicals which developed into cancer. They died with just a short amount of time between them.

In high school, we lost a few classmates to cancer.

A friend and previous coworker's step-father died within 6months of being diagnosed with an abdominal cancer.

My ex-father-in-law died close to his daughter's birthday from stomach cancer in 2013.

My sister-in-law has had several types of cancer. She is still fighting.

An elder sister in Christ, Billie, has breast cancer and is only fighting it with meds and prayers. She says at 89, she is not doing chemo.

Last Aug, I lost a good friend and mentor, Dawana. She fought many types of cancer over the past 10 years.

I know I have missed some

I honestly have never really known anyone who has passed from cancer. (Except an acquaintance who I worked with occasionally, died last year of stomach cancer) None of my relatives/ kids dads side of family or even friends family members. It was never in my life until now. I do not know alot about it, other than certain types can cause death in a short period of time.

I'm sincerely sorry for all those who have/had this disease or have had loved ones who have lost their lives to it.

I think through this experience, I am going to see what I am capable of doing, volunteering with Hospice. I see how important they are for terminally ill people.

Inoperable brain tumor
Mother aged 56
Columbus GA

From diagnosis to death was just under 6 months. I will always miss her kindness and strength.

A college friend died of testicular cancer at 29. Diagnosis to death. 18 months

My father was prone to basal cell carcinomas. It wasn't what caused his death though. I've been getting them myself since I passed the 40 year mark. Damned northern European heritage...
