I include this because I hear some folks mention, but "I never went to war, battle" or for some medical reason were not able to stay in the military once they has signed up and maybe made it through basic but no farther.
Example: My son is currently an MTI at Lackland AFB in San Antonio. He has had to inform guys or gals they will not be able to remain in the military because of a discovered medical condition they didn't know they had prior to enlisting and sometimes not till after weeks of basic training.
Point being they were WILLING and passionate about wanting to server our country and have been devastated to not be able to continue. They come from a family that has proudly served for decades and they wish to continue and honor their family and country in the the same way. They too signed their name on that "blank check" that included their willingness to die for our country. They need to know they deserve to be recognized as well even if they could not continue they were willing and committed.
Graduation Ceremony, my son leading his flight across.
oops, didn't mean for the second pic to be so big.
