Democrats Drop A Bombshell Report That Exposes Trump’s Planned Devious War On Seniors
By Jason Easley on Mon, Dec 5th, 2016 at 12:43 pm
The first peek at what the incoming Trump administration has planned can be found in HHS nominee Rep. Tom Price's budget plan, and what the new administration is signaling is nothing less than a war on the nation's seniors.
The first peek at what the incoming Trump administration has planned can be found in HHS nominee Rep. Tom Price’s budget plan, and what the new administration is signaling is nothing less than a war on the nation’s seniors.
The report by the Senate Budget Committee Minority Staff provided a great deal of insight into four areas of Prices’s budget that equal a war on seniors:
Sneaking massive benefit cuts through the back door – The Price proposal includes a devious plan that would likely trigger deep cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and other priorities, while avoiding the need for members of Congress to vote directly for the cuts. The Price plan does this by automatically triggering a process to establish caps on spending and debt levels upon approval of a budget resolution, with the threat of sequestration cuts to enforce those limits. This, for the first time, would allow the Republican majority to ram through cuts to Social Security (among other programs) using a special fast-track process that denies Senate Democrats their normal rights to defend these programs and ensure an adequate opportunity for public input. If Republicans were to pass President-Elect Trump’s tax plan, the resulting increase to the deficit, under this plan, could require cuts to Social Security and Medicare of 13.5 percent, meaning the average Social Security beneficiary would lose more than $2,000 a year. [CAP,10/18/16]?
Rigging the budget process to cut earned benefits– Currently, if Congress fails to offset the cost of mandatory spending or new tax breaks, this can trigger across-the-board cuts, or sequestration. However, Social Security is exempt from these cuts, and Medicare is subject to only limited cuts (of 2 or 4 percent, depending on the type of sequestration). Meanwhile, consistent with a previously long-standing bipartisan consensus, most assistance to Americans with the greatest needs is completely protected. By contrast, the Price plan would subject “all programs” to sequestration, “with limited exceptions such as interest payments, Article I judges’ salaries, and intragovernmental payments.” On its face, this could mean that in the future, seniors, the disabled, and others in need could be forced to pay the price, with deep cuts to promised benefits that many earned through a lifetime of hard work.
Unraveling longstanding guarantees to those who rely on Medicare, Social Security, Unemployment Insurance and other Benefits – Price’s proposal calls for a non-amendable fast track process to end longstanding guarantees to our nation’s middle-class workers, seniors, children, the disabled and millions of others who rely on Medicare, Social Security, unemployment insurance, and other benefits. Instead, these Americans would have to fight annually for these benefits in the uncertain appropriations process, with no assurance their hard-earned benefits will be there at the end. Given the Republican Congress’s long record of failure to even consider appropriations bills on time, this could threaten the security of millions who rely on promised benefits. Meanwhile, Price proposes no similar process to eliminate wasteful special interest tax loopholes.
Rigging the budget with a fast-track for billionaire tax breaks – The Price proposal would repeal the Statutory Pay-As-You-Go Act, which imposes fiscal discipline by restricting Congress’s ability to enact deficit-financed tax breaks and direct spending. This would free Congress to hand out massive new breaks for billionaires and large corporations, while driving up the deficit and laying the groundwork for future Republican demands for additional cuts to middle class benefits.
One gets the sense that many Americans went to the polls without the future of Social Security and Medicare in mind. Perhaps, voters took these beloved institutions that help millions of Americans for granted.
Maybe, they made the mistake of believing Donald Trump when he said that he wouldn’t cut the programs, but as Ranking Budget Committee member Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) pointed out while commenting on the report, Trump is a hypocrite, “Donald Trump asked workers and seniors to vote for him because he was the only Republican candidate who would not cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid – programs that are of life-and-death importance for millions of Americans. But instead he has nominated Rep. Tom Price for Secretary of Health and Human Services, who has a long history of wanting to do exactly the opposite of what Trump campaigned on. What hypocrisy. Trump needs to tell the American people that what he said during the campaign were just lies or appoint an HHS secretary who will protect these programs from cuts and do what the president-elect said he would do.”
The Price budget provides insight into the incoming administration’s plans for Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and unemployment insurance. What it looks like the Trump administration is planning for is a destruction of the social safety net while handing massive tax cuts to millionaires, billionaires, and corporations.
The people who need our help the most are about to punished. The nation’s most economically vulnerable are about to face a full-on assault from the Trump administration.

Do you people NEVER get tired of voting against your best interests? I'm not on expensive drugs...but I know folks who are and can't afford their drugs...there are probably a few in this group. Do you read? Do you know that the Republicans only represent the corporations and 1%? PLEASE read this article and then fact check it.
Senate Republicans blocked an effort by Bernie Sanders to lower drug costs and allow for the import of lower-cost drugs into the United States. With the GOP, it is ALWAYS profits over people. The Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins discusses this.

Transcription of the above video:
The 21st Century Cures Act, as we have discussed in the past, is a horrible piece of legislation that is essentially going to defend the FDA and allow pharmaceutical companies to ram through any drug they want without adequate testing. As this bill has already passed the House, it’s currently making its way through the Senate.
Senator Bernie Sanders, earlier this week, introduced an amendment to this bill that would have forced pharmaceutical companies to negotiate drug prices with the federal government as well as allowed the importation of low-cost drugs from overseas, from Canada, from Mexico, if we have to. Anywhere where the same drug costs less, the United States can import that drug and sell it to American consumers at a very reduced price. This measure, this amendment by Bernie Sanders was defeated by Senate Republicans because apparently Senate Republicans believe that American public is not entitled to low-cost prescription drugs. The federal government has no business negotiating drug prices for Medicare or Medicaid or anything like that. The only instance where the government is allowed to negotiate drug prices is with the VA, which is great, but we need it for the rest of us too.
Here’s the thing that most people do not understand about pharmaceutical drug pricing. It takes less than two years for a pharmaceutical company to make back 100% of the money that they spent creating a new drug. Less than two years. Most of that is less than two years from the sales just in the United States. The United States pays higher drug prices than almost every other industrialized country in the world. In fact, I do not know of any country that pays drug prices as high as we pay in the United States. We may very well be the highest.
The reason for that, again, is because as Bernie Sanders tried to fix, we don’t let us import lower-cost drugs, and we don’t let the government negotiate drug prices. Simple as that. Big Pharma is legally allowed to price-gouge United States citizens, and the government said, ‘You know what? That’s just fine with us.’ Republicans love it. Democrats, most of them apparently seem to love it too.
Less than two years, that’s the point, to make their money back. Here’s the real kicker. Most of that research and development money that drug companies spend to develop a new drug, it actually comes from the federal government, from taxpayers. You’re paying for your drugs twice. You’re paying to make them, and then you’re paying to use them. That’s the American way. That’s what Republicans think it’s just fine for Big Pharma because Big Pharma makes a killing off of these drugs. Unfortunately, many of them are drugs that people have to have to survive. Diabetes medications, heart medications, anti-psychotic medications. God knows a lot of us need those right now. We’re paying twice. Big Pharma’s reaping all the benefits.
The reason we’re paying such high cost for drugs is because we allow direct-to-consumer advertising. One of only two countries that actually allow that. Big Pharma, instead of spending billions and billions on research and development, they’re spending billions on advertising. That’s the money they’re trying to recoup. That’s why we’re paying such higher costs on top of the not being able to negotiate drug prices and all the other things. The main one is that advertising money that they have to get back.
It would stand to reason that if we, like every other country in the world with the exception of I think it’s New Zealand, outlawed direct-to-consumer marketing of pharmaceuticals, that advertising budget would disappear. We wouldn’t have to recoup those costs. Maybe we could get lower-cost drugs here in the United States.
The bottom line, and Bernie Sanders knows this and that’s why he’s trying to do these things, they’re about a million different options we have to lower the cost of drugs in the United States. Every time we’ve tried, it is the Republicans and a handful of corporate shill Democrats who block it because for those guys, it is always profits over people.
Wake up!

Every time we’ve tried, it is the Republicans and a handful of corporate shill Democrats who block it because for those guys, it is always profits over people.
Wake up!

A federal judge in Michigan has officially stopped the recount demanded by Jill Stein. This means there is absolutely no chance of Hillary gaining enough electoral votes to reverse the decision made by the American people on November 8th.
Not that the recounts were doing her any favors before the one in Michigan was halted. In fact, Trump gained 100+ votes out of it! Can’t say I’m sad to see that, considering Stein alleged that there was fraud occurring.
This will be the 3rd official loss for Hillary Clinton. First, in 2008 when Barack Obama beat her out for the Democratic Presidential Nomination. Second, November 8, 2016 where she lost to bombastic businessman Donald Trump. Finally, December 8, 2016, the day the Michigan recount was stopped

WAKE UP
Hey, White Working Class, Donald Trump Is Already Screwing You Over
The Carrier deal was a sham. Ivanka’s moving her shoe production out of China—and into Ethiopia. Wake up, people. You’ve been played.

So Merry Christmas, Trump voters. Your guns are safe. They always were. Instead, while Trump is entertaining you by hiring white generals named “Mad Dog” to make you feel powerful again, the Republicans in Congress fully intend to take away every program that saved your parents and grandparents from the Great Depression.
Sure, they’re coming for “Obamacare” first. And you’re happy about that because you think that’s just free insurance for black “Obama phone” users and so-called illegals. But it’s not. It’s the access to insurance covering 20 million people, including millions of people like you; including 400,000 of you in very-not-black Kentucky. It’s covering disabled kids and people with pre-existing conditions, many who are too sick to get insurance without it. And Ryan and his friends want to cancel it, and then take three years to replace it, probably with Ryan’s favorite thing: vouchers.
But that’s not all. Ryan is also coming for Medicare. He wants to privatize that, too, and not for your mom and dad—they vote in midterms. He’s going to privatize it for you. So when you retire, working stiff in your forties or fifties, you’re going to get a handful of vouchers, instead of Medicare. And he’s also coming for Medicaid, to turn it into a block grant. That’s not a problem for me, since my blue state will keep caring for our poor. Your state—with its Republican governor and legislature? Not so much. Your emergency rooms are going to fill up with the sick, and your bankruptcy courts will fill up with their cases when they can’t pay the bills. And your rural hospitals are going to close.
You’ve turned your country over the top tenth of 1 percent. Talk about “establishment.” Their interest is not in helping you. It’s in further enriching themselves, by privatizing every public program—Social Security can’t be far behind—dropping the corporate and top income tax brackets as close to zero as possible, and making you pay, for everything from privatized roads owned by multinational corporations to elementary school. They’re into taking land, including our public lands and parks, or using another Trump favorite—public domain—to drill and frack, endangering your water just as surely as they poisoned Flint’s. And when they can’t steal any more from the Native Americans—who have shown they still have some fight left—they’ll come for your farms.
In Michigan, Republicans have already gotten started. They voted to further gut unions’ ability to bargain for decent health care and retirement through the use of strikes, and congressional Republicans have already voted to strip the “buy American” clause out of a bill to repair the nation’s water infrastructure.
As for black Trump supporters, don’t be fooled. Remember when Trump said he didn’t want black people counting his money, only Jewish people? Well look at his appointments. He didn’t even respect neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson enough to insist that he take over Health and Human Services. Instead, he’s tossing the black guy in the “urban” chair.
So good luck, Trump voters. I hope at some point you realize what’s happening and fight back. Your choices, unfortunately, do affect us all, and they will until we wake up and junk the Electoral College, which puts rural states’ zeal for Christian rule ahead of blue states’ desire for good government.
Until then, all I can do is try to warn you, and then wish you good luck.

Donald Trump pulled off one of the greatest political feats in modern history by defeating Hillary Clinton and the vaunted Clinton machine.
The election was a complete repudiation of Barack Obama: his fantasy world of political correctness, the politicization of the Justice Department and the I.R.S., an out-of-control E.P.A., his neutering of the military, his nonsupport of the police and his fixation on things like transgender bathrooms. Since he became president, his party has lost 63 House seats, 10 Senate seats and 14 governorships.
