I know there is some in this group that do not like Ted Cruz and that has caused some hard feelings between members here. This article is one reason I like Cruz as much as I do.How many people in congress would have the balls to propose a Bill like this one?
Semper Fi !!!
(Gateway Pundit) – US Senator Ted Cruz has proposed an amendment to the constitution along with House Representative Ron DeSantis to put a cap on terms that members of Congress may serve, the lawmakers said in a joint press release.
The proposed amendment will limit US senators to two six-year terms and members of the US House of Representatives to three two-year terms.
From U.S. Senator Ted Cruz:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) today proposed an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to impose term limits on members of Congress. The amendment would limit U.S. senators to two six-year terms and members of the U.S. House of Representatives to three two-year terms.
“D.C. is broken,” said Sen. Cruz. “The American people resoundingly agreed on Election Day, and President-elect Donald Trump has committed to putting government back to work for the American people. It is well past time to put an end to the cronyism and deceit that has transformed Washington into a graveyard of good intentions.”
Cruz continued: “The time is now for Congress, with the overwhelming support of the American people, to submit this constitutional amendment to the states for speedy ratification. With control of a decisive majority of the states, the House of Representatives, and the Senate, we have a responsibility to answer the voters’ call-to-action. We must deliver.”
“Term limits are the first step towards reforming Capitol Hill,” said Rep. DeSantis. “Eliminating the political elite and infusing Washington with new blood will restore the citizen legislature that our Founding Fathers envisioned. The American people have called for increased accountability and we must deliver. Senator Cruz has been instrumental in efforts to hold Congress accountable, and I look forward to working with him to implement term limits.”
“President Trump, Speaker Ryan and huge majorities of the American people are demanding term limits,” said U.S. Term Limits President Philip Blumel. “Congress must listen and pass the Cruz-DeSantis amendment immediately.
The enduring concept of a citizen legislature, of limiting unruly influence and abuse of power, and of promoting integrity and unclouded judgment in Washington through congressional term limits is a priority strongly supported by the American people. According to an October Rasmussen survey, 74 percent of Americans support establishing term limits for all members of Congress, while only 13 percent oppose term limits.
In December, Sen. Cruz and Rep. DeSantis published an op-ed in the Washington Post announcing their intention to introduce a term limits amendment in the 115th Congress.
The amendment was cosponsored in the Senate by Sens. Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Mike Lee (R-Utah), and David Perdue (R-Ga.)

i still like cruz!
i just feel strongly about citizenship and how it applies to eligibility.
i have had an inkling that the donald would nominate cruz for supreme court. now thats
where he fits. although i guess i should look into that more closely and see how
citizenship applies to members of the supreme court.
hmmmmmm....that may be my next project!

I'm thinking Cruz would have made a not-so-good president, but a great Supreme Court justice.

I think Cruz would have made one hell of a good president but not in this time frame.

I always thought only the PRESIDENT had to be a natural born citizen. I don't think this applies to the Court, but it may be the politically correct thing to do whether it is actually the law or not.

patriot that i am, i would NEVER vote for or recognize a non US citizen or one who holds
dual citizenship as a president of these USA. that would mean a complete end to our
constitution and an end to these united states, which IS 'their' ultimate goal.
why would any of you, especially those of you who have served to protect and defend these
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and our constitution, allow a non citizen or one who has dual
citizenship at the time of his/her birth, to be POTUS???

I'm no Cruz fan but I'll give him some credit. He just put his trouble with Trump aside and very strongly supports Gorsuch for the Supreme Court. That goes a long way with me.

I think that after they've seen Trump act so swiftly and courageously, they are not going to be the ones to oppose him a little bit.
Have we forgotten the Primaries? Trump NEVER attacked one of the candidates unprovoked. He even defended some. However, if, and when, one attacked him, he destroyed them singlehandedly. The smart ones will figure out the game soon enough. The stupid ones, we don't need hanging around much longer anyway.
Sorta back on topic. I like Cruz, but he's NOT qualified as a NBC to be President. Same for Rubio. Both are very gifted. The fact that they passed the vetting process by Preibus has me concerned.
Just because OBummer got away with it doesn't make it lawful. Two wrongs don't make it right. OBummer had the entire Socialist state and federal government staff of moles covering for him. Obummer's days are coming round to catch up with him. Real soon! We couldn't prosecute OBummer with our own imposter at the helm. Nobody wants to recognize this. Not one MSM or Democrat accused Rubio or Cruz on NBC. We have to ask WHY? It would have backfired on their Prince.
We can't impeach OBummer now. Awe, too bad. But we can lock him up for fraud, murder, and any number of other items. The list is endless. Our history books will record 8 years without a President.
