Understanding John the Baptist's role as Elijah and the voice is vitally important in understanding his role for Israel's last days and the time of "the end" in the 1st century AD.

(Mat 3:3 KJV) For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

The above is from Isaiah:

(Isa 40:3 KJV) The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

(Isa 40:4 KJV) Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:

We know John predicted the wrath to come (which fell on the Jews and Jerusalem) in the war of 66-70 AD:

(Mat 3:7 KJV) But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

John could hardly be warning them of a wrath to come 1970+ years and counting.

What is interesting to note is that the language "make straight in the desert", "every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low" etc., used in Isaiah is that of a military warfare.

The 1st Century Jewish historian and commander in the 66-70 AD war Josephus describes Vespasian’s invasion of Galilee and his approach to besiege Jotapata.

Vespasian commanded some of his troups to, "measure out the camp withal; and after them, such as were to make the road even and straight, and it were anywhere rough and hard pressed to be passed over, to plane it, and to cut down the woods that hindered their march, that the army might not be in distress, or tired with their march." (Josephus - Wars, Book III 6, chapter 6.

(Mal 4:5 KJV) Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

We know, contrary to the futurists and dispensational "theologies" that John the Baptist was the Elijah to come:

(Mat 17:10 KJV) And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?

(Mat 17:11 KJV) And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.

(Mat 17:12 KJV) But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.

This "great day of the Lord" of Malachi/Elijah is the same "great day of his wrath" in Revelation:

(Rev 6:17 KJV) For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

(Mal 3:1 KJV) Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

(Mal 3:2 KJV) But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap:

It is evident that John's ministry as Elijah was an integral part of Israel's last days and the the "time of the end":

(Heb 1:2 KJV) Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.

John as Elijah days are long gone, there will be no other ministry of a supposed Elijah to come.

Jesus stated "That Elias is come already" - any theology that denies this statement of Jesus is built on a foundation of sand and is in direct contradiction to the inspired words of Jesus.

Haven't read -- just posting off the thread title....

Jesus said it: I came to fulfill prophesy ~~

Doesn't get much more clear or authoritative than that.

What is also vitally important in regards to John the Baptist as the one foretold by Malachi is his call to bring the nation to remember the Law of Moses:

(Mal 4:4 KJV) Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.

(Mal 4:5 KJV) Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

John's ministry as Elijah had a "critical" timing to it - to propose that there will be a yet to be ministry of Elijah is to essentially deny what was written in the book of Hebrews:

(Heb 8:13 KJV) In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

The old covenant of Moses was ready to vanish away in the 1st century AD.

The proposed future Elijah can not call the Jews to "Remember the law of Moses my servant" because it has waxed old and vanished, replaced by the new covenant of Messiah.

No person is held accountable to a vanished set of laws or required to remember them.

John's call to repentance and keep the Law of Moses was only valid till it was replaced by the new covenant in the 1st century AD when the old covenant went *poof* with Herod's temple.

This is a significant problem (one of many) for all futurist and dispensational "theologies" that proclaim a future Elijah.

Not only did John call 1st century Israel to repentance he warned of the wrath/judgment to come:

(Mat 3:10 KJV) And now also the ax is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

John's call to repentance according to the "Law of Moses my servant" included penalties for its violation:

(Exo 22:21 KJV) Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

(Exo 22:22 KJV) Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.

(Exo 22:23 KJV) If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;

(Exo 22:24 KJV) And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

Jesus continued John's ministry of warning to the Jewish nation using the Law:

(Mat 23:14 KJV) Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

(Luke 18:5 KJV) Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.

(Luke 18:6 KJV) And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.

John's call to repentance and vengeance for failure to "bring forth fruits" is repeated by Jesus.

(Mat 3:7 KJV) But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

(Mat 3:8 KJV) Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

The wrath to come predicted by John was also proclaimed by Jesus.

(Luke 21:20 KJV) And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

(Luke 21:22 KJV) For these be the days of vengeance, that ALL things which are written may be fulfilled.

It's way beyond time for the futurists and dispensationalists to wake up out of the Christianized myths they've swallowed invented by supposed scholars that deny or contradict the words of the bible.

Keep in mind, its the same ones that brought 'alternative facts " in politics, that also tend to follow alternative facts Christianity.

Any day, now, they will be flying away ! Rapt-uated !
