Since no one really seems to be talking about the FDA nominee, I figured I'd start a topic to see what people think of the guy, or if they even know who he is. Personally, I think he's a horrible choice because of his current ties to pharmaceutical companies.
What are your thoughts on the guy? Good pick? Or more of the same?

I read a little about him early on but didn't go that deep
really.
Just enough to see that yeah, another pick that's totally wrong.
I'm surprised the word "Kleptocracy" doesn't come up
more often.
I mean seriously.
Every member he's chosen will either
undermine the department they've been
tasked to run, or screw the people they're
supposed to protect.

He is a tool of big pharma having ties to at least 25 of our largest pharmaceutical companies.He wants to relax the standards for new drugs giving the industry carte blanche.We'll soon begin seeing new phen-phens and thalidomides on the market with him in charge.The last thing the drug industry needs is someone who puts money first.

A little bit about Scott Gottlieb...
"Newly-released financial disclosure documents show that Dr. Scott Gottlieb, President Trump’s nominee to the lead the Food and Drug Administration, has received significant payments from the opioid industry — while attacking*attempts to*deter*the explosion of opioid pill mills.
The FDA has some of the most*significant authority in the federal government to oversee*manufacturers*of prescription painkillers. Gottlieb is set to appear for his confirmation hearing*before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee*at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
Gottlieb’s disclosure statements, required under federal law, show that since the beginning of 2016*he has received almost $45,000*in speaking fees from firms involved in the manufacture and distribution of*opioids.
“Our country is in desperate need of an FDA commissioner who will take on the opioid lobby, not one who has a track record of working for it,” said Dr. Andrew Kolodny, the Co-Director of Opioid Policy Research at Brandeis University, reacting to*this information."

I wish. I don't think that'll ever happen though. Maybe if our government is overthrown, but so long as we continue this shit show, I think the FDA is here to stay.
It's not like this nomination is anything unusual. Most people involved with the FDA are already involved with the pharmaceutical industry, I just wish people would pay attention to these types of things, especially all those who though Trump was going to drain the swamp.
