Look who borrowed to improve their roads and bridges.
China Hit by First Moody's Downgrade Since 1989 on Debt Risk

For roughly the past 10 years, China’s growth has come by way of two areas — investment in infrastructure, commercial and residential real estate and exports of manufactured goods.

With regard to the former, since 2008, China has embarked on a building spree unlike anything witnessed in world history. In fact, more concrete was poured in China from 2011 to 2013 than all concrete poured in the United States during the 20th Century. The building of roads, tunnels, bridges and high-rise buildings has put a lot of people to work and kept factories humming with construction-related materials.

Regarding exports, it is apparent that China has been very successful in manufacturing products of all kinds and selling them in the world’s most important consumer markets, such as the United States and the EU.

Herc, their supply and demand is over. Sri Lanka has them beat in price for goods. Too costly now for them.

On the export side, China is also getting squeezed — the cost of manufacturing in China is going up. The cost of labor and inputs have all risen, making it increasingly difficult to compete against places like Vietnam and Sri Lanka. To address this, Chinese factories have been heavily investing in automation and robotics to offset the rising cost of labor.

At the same time, global demand for manufactured goods has been less than the global increase in manufacturing productivity, leading to a glut of supply and not enough demand to absorb all of the built-up capacity within China.

Realizing that China’s go-go days of growth may be behind it and that it’s mountain of debt casts a shadow on its future prospects, its policymakers are looking to revive its fortunes through the One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative. In fact, OBOR is the centerpiece of President Xi Jinping’s blueprint for China’s economic future.

I agree! I've seen this cycle several times in my life. Remember Japan for one?

YES!

It's about frigging time! Getting so tired of all that crap coming out of China! Waste several hours a week having to warranty or replace poor quality stuff from China!

And this Silk Road BS!? LOL! Yeah right! Anyone dumb enough to get on that train deserves what they get!

It's like I was saying... I purchased a 10 pack of light bulbs by accident on eBay one night from someone in China for less than what it cost for a two pack here in the USA... Didn't realize the item was shipping out of China before I clicked the buy it now... It was only $5 anyway so it's not like I was paying a lot of attention to the seller and such... Seemed too good to be true.

I'll give them credit for the fact that they did arrive as promised, but how the h3ll did they make any money!? I think the 10 pack cost less than $5.00 and included shipping! Now you know they had to pay for the eBay fees, the PayPal fees, the shipping cost, the packaging cost, the person to list and package the item and then the cost of the bulbs themselves! How in the h3ll can they do that!? It literally defies all logic!

When I got the package it was wrapped in some sort of recycled plastic that smelled like $hit... Probably was $hit at one time.

HA HA, I did that too Stellar, the package smelled like a cow manure package, China all over it. They use so much pesticides on the dog food they were sending ingredients over here killing our pets, remember that? Dog foods in the USA did not have to disclose the ingredients came from China full of pesticides.

Probably the same exact light bulbs you buy here in the USA as a 2 pack! You just bought direct. Here in the USA you have 10 different markups to pay on the same product.

Most of the time you get a quality product but sometimes not so much. It is a gamble. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose!

Good one.

Hey, cutting the paris accord means we won't be buying their coal either, they buy from us. WOO HOO.

Already, walmart and Amazon are opening distribution centers in Mobile Alabama and going to employ over 1200 so far, by the end of the year.
