Sorry this is not a thread about "TRUMP TAKES A LEAK" "DEMOCRATS OUTRAGED"
No this is just an opinion piece by yours truly.
This latest leak about the Manchester bombing has to be the last straw. I know that democrats want to believe that this administration is out of control and the leaks are coming from republicans within his inner circle.
Republicans want to believe that this is part of the deep state in the intelligence community that wants to undermine a Trump presidency at all costs. I suppose either theory is plausible.
Leaking info like this that makes other countries not want to share intelligence with us has to be rooted out and stopped in its tracks. And, news organizations need to be responsible with this type of information. It is shameful that they needed to be first to get this out, and anyone that thinks it wasn't done to embarrass this president is fooling only themselves.
There is a big difference in being a whistle blower and a leaker. That difference has been muddied over the last decade. If anything being leaked hurts the current administration it is hailed by the opposition as a patriot coming forward and condemned by the current occupants as treason.
Anyway,. that is my rant for the day. Say something nice about Obamacare and I can fire up another rant pretty easily.

I pretty much agree with everything you said, except that I don't think the evidence is in yet to support your assumption that this latest leak is all about making Trump look bad.
I'm old-style conservative. That means I go by facts and by logic, and by the law as written (not as reinterpreted by every eager pontificator). And I wait for evidence before condemning, because jumping to conclusions interferes with accurate problem solving.
Leaking secrets is against the law, and allowing laws to be ignored, is bad for the country no matter who does it or why.
As for who else to go after, that gets complicated. Each case has to be analyzed separately. With regards to the Press, it's extra tricky, because there are at least equally important fundamental principles of the United States involved with deciding whether or not the people publishing leaked secrets should be prosecuted. If a person in power is abusing that power behind the scenes, and someone leaks that they have done so, the leaker is still on the hook for their act. However, the people reporting what was leaked, are revealing actual abuse of the law, and drawing the attention of the authorities to the need to act to stop it going further. So in that kind of case, maintaining freedom of the press at some sacrifice of informational security, actually supports Constitutional government.
Blaming this on remaining Democratic appointees needs to wait until evidence exists to prove it. Otherwise you aren't supporting law and order, you are simply scapegoating, and that's bad for the country as well, since it leaves the real lawbreakers in place.

OP, I, for one, do not think a government that bills itself as being “By the people, of the people, and for the people”, and as being a democratic republic, has any right to keep secrets from its own people. Today, virtually everything the Federal Government does is classified and withheld from the people in the name of “national security”, and federal whistleblowers are routinely imprisoned or murdered (like Seth Rich for example), and Freedom of Information laws and laws designed to protect whistleblowers are routinely ignored.
To make matters worse, the Federal Government has a official policy of lying to the American people: our Federal Government has a long standing policy of lying to the American people. Only they don’t call it lying, they have an official name for it, they call it “disinformation”, it is part of a psy-op operation that the CIA has had going against the American people for some time now: “We’ll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false” (Edgar Casey, director of CIA from 1981 to 1987, stated during an early meeting of the CIA). This disinformation program is part of the Federal Government’s phy-op operation against its own people. and the Major News Media is in collusion with their disinformation campaign (in fact, during a Project Veritos leak the other day, a Major News Media executive was secretly recorded explaining to Veritos that their job is not to report the news, but to form public opinion, and CIA agents are even on their payroll. And it was the CIA, by the way, that coined the phrase: “Conspiracy Theory” as a dismissive term intended to shut down discussion on something they want to keep hidden and don’t want to talk about.
The Federal Government has made it a crime for YOU to lie to them, but THEY have an official policy of lying to you. What a joke. Who is the master and who is the slave here? Do you really believe that the Federal Government is there to serve and protect you? Modern Federal Laws, some of which are classified and secret from the people, name, not the Muslims, but Conservatives, Christians, Constitutionalists, Veterans, anti-abortionists, anti-man-made-global warmists, and anti-New World Order Americans, as the terrorists. In other words, they name the American people as their enemy, and they have created fusion centers to spy on them and concentration camps in which to imprison them when they get ready to turn American sovereignty over to a One World Government controlled by Illuminate elites. They are naming us as their enemy. That means they are out enemy. And only a fool trusts their enemy. Today, we cannot trust our now all powerful, Godless, Lawless, Federal Government.
The “fight against terrorism”--what a joke that phrase is--is not compromised by how they make their bombs. If they gave a continental damn about fighting terrorism, they would NOT be deliberately bringing Muslim terrorists into Europe and America by the millions, and we would not be training, funding, and financially supporting them (the Manchester bomber, for example, was attending school on a scholarship paid for my taxpayers), and we would not be ignoring them when reported by authorities and by the populace, as also was the case with the Manchester bomber. And we would not be creating Muslim proxy armies like Al Quetta and ISIS and funding and training them. What we would be doing is rounding up all the Muslim immigrants and deporting every last one of them.
I do not want the Federal Government keeping any secrets from me. If they cannot do what they do in the open and in the light of day, then I do not want them doing it.

Yup. Dub-ya said a lot of really stupid things on many many occasions but at least he never fuked over our allies.

WikiLeaks may have finally done what many small and anti-government advocates have only dreamed of. They exposed the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for what it is: a bloated government bureaucracy that has grown much too large to be restrained.
According to the document dump released by Julian Assange’s whistleblower hub, this list of highly confidential information regarding the CIA emerged from the agency’s Center For Cyber Intelligence in Langley, revealing details on the agency’s “global covert hacking program.”
The CIA’s hacking effort has been so powerful and effective, the leaks show, that it includes the weaponization of exploits used against products such as the iPhone, Android phones, Samsung TVs, and Microsoft Windows. This means any of these devices can be used as spying mechanisms at any given time.
Once government has total control over every basic aspect of our lives, those within government see no boundaries. Why? Because the burden of self-censorship or even personal responsibility doesn’t lie with the individual any longer. Once the government employee crosses over, stepping into a world where he’s protected by an invisible authority, he is no longer a person who is led by the same morals that guided him before he assumed this position — he’s now a bureaucrat. And as such, he now knows he will no longer have to be accountable for his actions.
What does that have to do with the latest revelations on the CIA? When a lack of personal responsibility meets the always ravaging needs of the monopolistic State, the individual loses any sovereignty he has over his own life. The government worker becomes a thirsty member of the State, always looking for ways to undermine freedom while the so-called private individual becomes just another government enabler under its control.
The CIA has been careless with the tools it uses to spy on all of us, and whether or not we are guilty of committing crimes, it is clear that it has been equally careless with what it’s extracted from us over the years. This invites abuse from inside, which is what we saw happening within the National Security Agency (NSA) after Edward Snowden revealed the massive spying program sweeping our personal data (while also giving malicious elements outside of the CIA the same access to our personal communications).
We only have ourselves to blame for how out of control the CIA has become, and that’s because we have forgotten — or perhaps never known — that the government’s monopoly over our lives is granted, not warranted. Will the CIA leaks be the straw that broke the camel’s back?
Somehow, I highly doubt it.
