My Great grand parents immigrated here from Ireland to New York, and I never forgot why they came here. My father raised us to be proud Americans and nothing was handed to us either. I served in WWII and would do it all over again. Give her a credit. For a person living in US for less than 10 years (assuming green card duration is 10 years, and the person entered the country legally; I can be wrong, of course, about the legal entrance part) Marcas is doing great. The attitude ruins it, not the English.
