Yes, liberal government should PROHIBT alligators on golf courses. Who's in charge of alligator rights in the country?

If you do not wish to contend with alligators on the golf course then play your golf where that will not be an issue.

Dang y'all we need a special counsel investigation on this. Who told those gators they could be there. No green fees, no cart rentals, etc... . The libs aren't in control of that and we can't have it. How can we tax these gators. What about osha?

They look menacing, lisa. But, in fact, they are rarely dangerous. They have a right to survive, too. They were here on Earth long before us. We have actually encroached upon their habitat . I have a lot of respect for alligators. They are quite the survivors. But you live in New York so you don't have to worry about them.

If your really in New York, you won't have to worry about that.

On a golf course, they just ad the benefit of a moving target. Hit one moving at over 150 yards and you win automatically ...

But they won't venture far from the water.

On land they can out run most humans for about 30 feet. Then that's it, they tucker out.

I lived in Florida before Disney and all that growth, We use to swim in lakes even at night sometimes, fished in them at night and in the moonlight you could see the reflection off their eyes and it was green and eerie, but they liked to be left alone and would sink and pop up somewhere else away from people. Actually in some ways you had more to fear from water moccasins because they had no fear of humans and I've seen them crawl up in small boat before with people in it.

But these places weren't we went to weren't stock full of gators like the St. Johns river and its tributaries.

I wouldn't say that Matt...lol

They are sneaky when hungry, that kid that got taken by one in that Disney lake, is a prime example, sometimes they will stay on the bottom just off shore and wait till something ventures right up at the shore, then lunge out of the water, grab it, then pull it into the deeper water and drown it, the eat it.

Back then, we didn't think about the dangers, we use to hunt rattlers and sell them to Gator Land, when it was the only attraction in Central Fla...for the tourist.

These days, you wouldn't catch me doing that....lol

Yeah you're correct about alligators wanting to avoid people for the most part... but if a human is small enough to be taken as prey ...and it is in the water where the alligator has the advantage....watch out.
But crocodiles are much more dangerous. I respect the reptilians because of how adaptable they are and how well they have flourished throughout the Millennia.

^^^your right, if the human is small, they don't have a fear....and I think crocs are more dangerous too.

I stayed in Orlando after Disney till about 1978, then left the state. I went back and lived in Clermont for a couple of years in the late 80's, built a house right next to a swamp, down by Lake Louisa in the Clermont chain of lakes, with a canal with a boat ramp leading to the lake right across the street.

My ex. was from the North East and a year or so of all those snakes and creatures being around and she wanted to move...lol I agreed because I could see Florida being ruined by too much growth, left and never went back.

Here, its nice, and reminds me of the good old days...

Do the proprietors of the Golf Club not build fences around their golf course?

I can understand a snake being on the course but a big reptiles like an alligator or crocodile should be easy to keep out. I know, in my area, all the golf courses have fences around them... (but it doesn't stop the Kangaroos jumping them, but they aren't going to eat you lol )

my bothers and I used to go golfing with my grandfather now he can barely stand because he had hip surgery a few yrs ago! Grandma died of cancer quite a while ago and his desire to play nearly every day was buried with her

Nowadays maybe once a month he goes and doesn't maybe a home or two but that's it the hip pain settles in!
