Not all freed men and women assumed the surname of their slaves owner.
Not all mixed breed slaves were the progeny of the potential slave owner they shared a like surname with.
Famous Example(confirmed by DNA):
Thomas Jefferson's surviving quadroon children born of his enslaved mulatto sister-in-law were born with Sally's surname Jenning.
However, Sally wasn't a child of a slaveholder Hemming. She was a mulatto child of a black slave woman using the surname of a former slave owner and her new owner, Thomas Jefferson's father-in-law, John Wayles. Following Martha Wayles Jefferson's death, Thomas Jefferson became the owner of Sally and her mother.
Sally (Henning Wayles Jefferson) never carried the surname of "her" slave owner, she used the name of one of her mother's slave owners just as her mother did.

and if pertaining to your name you kept from being married and divorced [or whatever], did your ex have history of slavery within his family?

What about the streets and things up north, named after people up there who had slaves...it seems to me, that important people of the original 13 colonies owned slaves previous to the South ever really coming to being.
I guess we an start changing those street signs and etc. too. Why stop halfway.???
But here's a question, if a street was named after some semi famous black person years ago, and he got his name from his family taking the name of a famous white person who was instrumental in the forming of this country and later became a President or high up person after we became a country, but this person had owned slaves at some point.
Should those street names be changed too?

In 20 years white people will become the minority in America. They will be minority because of their financial status & their economic power. They are not minority because they are small in numbers. They are actually large in numbers.
If people worked hard to get to the top, then they deserved to be leaders. I don't have a problem with minority being leaders of America.
