Friday, shut down. All Alfred Angelo stores, offices empty.

Brides didn't know until they went to pick up their dress.

Usually, the deposit when you order is half, or more, of the price of the dress.

I wonder where the consumer falls in the waiting line for bankruptcy. Do they have priority over employees or suppliers ?

The naked marriage idea is probably not such a good idea given the physical condition of most brides and grooms today, and I am talking about the young people. Scares me how many bridal gowns are size 16 and above and mens suits are over size 50 in US sizing.

Interesting question on who owns the inventory. It is usually not the customer, as smart suppliers, when they see trouble on the horizon, wont deliver without UCC filings. Employees have some preference in unpaid wages, but not much, and in the end, how much cash is there to make any payments?

The article I read said basically all the employees left on Thursday taking their personal stuff with them, so who other than lawyers are still there to handle any business? Answer.... not much.

Good luck.

All they can do is submit a statement of loss to the bankruptcy court. If there is any money or assets left over after settling with those who have priority claims, they'll get them. Guess what? There won't be any.

Is this a sign that the number of people getting married now-a-days is on the decline?

I read an article about this situation. Apparently a lot of women are donating their gowns to help women who don't have the funds to "start all over" and buy another dress. Very heart warming.

I read the same article about this that you did, it also went on to say that brides who haven't gotten their dresses yet, they will be mailed to them upon completion at promised time as if they were still going to go to the store and pick them up.

Why make a thread about non-news and then purposely leave out the main reason of the article, as if you're? trying to drum up controversy trying to make people think that the dress shop just closed their doors and told all those brides " tough shit".

I don't think so. That brand opened a bunch of stores nationwide all at once, about 10 yrs ago. The dresses used to be bought at independent stores selling several brands.

Bad business model.

You don't think so? I don't think you know how to think. It went bankrupt. All claims now have to be settled by a bankruptcy court or judge. This is a slow process and could take years!

I'm more shocked they aren't just making their groom waste more money on them, since any other time they don't care about how much money they gouge out of us....

well I remember that we had 2 flooring companies go bankrupt shortly after I did business with them. the one store, We bought several packages of tile flooring on a credit card. they had to special order them. About a week after picking up my order, they closed.
My carpeting was paid for by my insurance company. 2 months later, they shut their doors!

Marriage has been on steady decline, since bitter a** broads started burning their bras and claiming they wanted "Equality".

Ironically, divorce rates have inversely reacted to this trend, by INCRESING because the same bitter, bra burning broads weren't satisfied with "Equality" and started using the courts to "defeat the oppressive patriarchy".....

As more and more men see the other men around them being stripped of everything they have ever worked for, they got smart and began avoiding marriage altogether.

=======================================

Believe it when you see it. Exactly who is going to mail them? Unless they have money to bring them back, they apparently laid off all the employees on Thursday. The bankruptcy lawyers aren't going to do it.

Bankruptcy can be extremely nasty and people get hurt emotionally and financially.

And then you have various classes of customers. For example, some dresses and gowns are at the stores ready to be picked up. Some are at the store ready for final fitting. Some are still at the manufacturer and the manufacturer is not going to deliver to anyone without getting paid. And then you have payment status. Some customers have paid in full and have dresses ready to pick up. Some only have paid deposits. The number of variations is amazingly large.

Assuming there is a bankruptcy filed, the only way they expedite delivery of anything is if other creditors, the secured ones, waive their rights to priority with respect to customer claims. I would suggest, based on my experience, it would take quite a while, think months, to hammer out the agreement necessary to present to the judge to get that done.

There are some other things that can be done to help, but dont hold thy breath.

Seems to me this is why guys RENT the tux! The place goes belly up? They go somewhere else and curse the clowns that cheated them. It's just a whole lot cheaper than buying a tux he knows he'll only wear once.

http://www.pewsocialtrends.org/2010/11/18/the-decline-of-marriage-and-rise-of-new-families/

As quoted: "The survey also finds striking differences by generation. In 1960, two-thirds (68%) of all twenty-somethings were married. In 2008, just 26% were. How many of today’s youth will eventually marry is an open question. For now, the survey finds that the young are much more inclined than their elders to view cohabitation without marriage and other new family forms — such as same sex marriage and interracial marriage — in a positive light."

http://www.randalolson.com/2015/06/15/144-years-of-marriage-and-divorce-in-1-chart/

Marriages & Divorces per capita

1960 - 7.5 marriages/1000 people - 2.6 divorces/1000 people. Effective Divorce % of about 32%

2010 - 7.0 marriages/1000 people - 3.1 divorces/1000 people. Effective Divorce % of about 45%

And it is a well-known FACT, that almost 70% of ALL divorces are filed by the WOMAN.

http://www.aarp.org/research/topics/life/info-2014/divorce.html

So, we can clearly see my statements are VALID and ACCURATE....

Or do I need to find FACTS of how DIVORCE FAVORS WOMEN, too?

Would you also like statistics on how many married women keep a "Plan B" man on the side?

Or how women are MORE ABUSIVE than men are?

I didn't think you couldn't, I just asked for them.

The CDC statistics show the marriage rate dropped from 8.2 to 6.9 from 2000-2014. That's 1.3 marriages less per 1000 people.

I don't think the difference is big enough to write diatribes insulting women.

I think the take away from Enigmaboi's emotional outburst is women are getting divorced or avoiding marriage because of guys like him.

I wonder if this is a sign, that more and more people are not getting married enough anymore, or just bad management in a particular wedding company ???

Just in case its the first possibility, I advise all to dump their diamond stocks....
