when they think it's Bernie's.

Likewise they "despise" Obama's policies when the interviewer attributes them to Trump.

Reminds me of an experiment I saw on TV once.
Invited a bunch of college students to a bar for free beer,
they were served non-alcoholic beer and started to act drunk.

The ruling-class is once again raping the masses and looting the public till in order to dish lots of money to billionaire one-percenters. And that is capitalism's only real pursuit: getting more and more and more money into the pockets of super-rich capitalists. Of course, that can only happen by increasingly raping the working-class masses.

Senate passes resolution setting stage for $1.5 trillion in tax cuts for the rich
By Gabriel Black
21 October 2017
World Socialist Web Site
https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2017/10/21/budg-o21.html

Excerpts:

Late on Thursday night, the United States Senate passed a budget resolution that paves the way for legislation slashing taxes on corporations and the wealthy, and sets a figure of $1.5 trillion for the amount that will be funneled by the US Treasury into the pockets of the super-rich.

The budget resolution does not have legal effect and is not signed into law by President Trump. Instead, it sets the procedural terms for upcoming tax and budget legislation. The main, if not the only purpose, was to permit tax cuts to be enacted under a procedure known as “reconciliation,” in which filibusters are barred and legislation will require only a bare 51 votes to pass—50 senators and the tie-breaking vote of Vice President Mike Pence.

The House approved its own version of the budget resolution on October 5, including provisions for greater cuts in social spending and requiring the tax cut to be entirely offset by spending cuts. It is expected that the House will now approve the Senate resolution, since the Senate figure permitting tax cuts that add $1.5 trillion to the deficit is far more lucrative for the big financial interests that are the driving force of the legislative action.

Neither the Trump White House nor the Republican congressional leadership have released the full details of their tax cut plan, but it will include a huge cut in the corporate tax rate, from the present 35 percent (which most companies avoid through accounting gimmicks) to 20 percent or even lower, the abolition of the estate tax, and other cuts in taxation on the wealthy. There will be tiny cuts in taxes for many middle income families, although some will actually have to pay more. There will be no benefit for the 47 percent of the population whose earnings are so low that they pay payroll taxes but no income taxes.

The budget resolution is something of a misnomer, since the spending levels it sets out for the next 10 years have no legal significance and will be altered, in whole or in part, when actual appropriations bills are passed by the Republican-controlled Congress. But the language and the figures set down in the bill demonstrate the intentions of political establishment as a whole: to usher in a new wave of draconian cuts to essential services that tens of millions of Americans rely on.

A large part of the budget cuts would come from Medicaid, $1 trillion, and Medicare, $473 billion. Much of the remaining $3.5 trillion in cuts is unspecified. However, Trump’s earlier partial budget gives an insight on a list of possible cuts:

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), otherwise known as Food Stamps, could be cut by roughly $200 billion over a decade—that is a quarter of its budget. The program currently serves 44 million people and was already cut back during the Obama Administration.

Social Security’s Supplemental Security income program, which provides cash benefits to the poor and disabled, could be cut by $72 billion over the decade.

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), otherwise known as Welfare, could be cut by $272 billion over the decade.

Federal employees could have their cost-of-living adjustment eliminated and be forced to pay for more of their retirement, eliminating $63 billion.

The Air Traffic Control system could be privatized for $70 billion.

The Environmental Protection Agency would be cut by about 32 percent.

Funding for the arts, medical research and science would be cut by billions. This could include the National Cancer Institute, the National Science Foundation, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

These sorts of devastating cuts could push destitute and already penniless people into their graves. It would not be an exaggeration to say that large sections of the country would descend into third-world conditions.

What will not be cut is the military. The only item in the budget that will receive a significant increase is the military, which will be boosted by tens of billions of dollars each year.

What if we went line by line through the tax code to find all the handouts for the rich? I wonder where those came from.

I mean...really. Not the tax rate. Not the "fair share" that everyone else pays. I mean the money a company gets for cutting the lawn with a government approved electric lawnmower, or the environmental credit a CEO gets for tea bagging a squirrel's nuts.

I'll bet 80% of the free stuff is from Democrats.

Don't give up on the youth of America.
Some are really smart and see through the media filter.

Others come around later.
I used to be very liberal when it was more moderate and about the environment and smoking weed.

All the rhetoric about riots with Antifa has pushed me over the fence.

If I had a nickel for every fervent right-winger I've encountered over the years on a message board who claimed that he used to be a liberal, when he very clearly never was, I'd be closing in on Warren Buffet type of wealth.

Liberalism has never in your entire lifetime, nor mine, been this far right-wing. Never!

Don't be such a chump, dude. These kinds of "studies" are nothing but a fraud. There are just as many Republican students who would cheer for a Bernie Sanders tax plan if they were led to believe it was Trump's. This kind of thing is nothing but a political stunt.

No, you're just a lying sack of shit, exactly like everyone else I've run across who has claimed to be a formal liberal but is now a fervent right-winger. The proof is in your own idiotic comment where you said, "I used to be very liberal when it was more moderate." Liberalism has never in your lifetime, nor mine, been this far right-wing.

If Obama had done anything at all the least bit leftist during his 8 years in power; if Hillary had not been the right-wing, warmongering darling of Wall Street and the Pentagon, the Democrats would never have lost to a buffoon like Trump. They were giddy that Trump won the GOP nomination, believing they had an easy road to a President Hitlery. But increasingly the people of the world have learned important lessons about the inherent right-wing character of liberalism and they are abandoning liberalism. With nowhere else for the left to turn, their abandonment of liberalism has opened the door for the far right. But that is only a temporary occurrence. The continued warnings being issued by the ruling-class, from Bush to Trump, about the "evils of socialism" prove that they know the true score and they are very, very worried.

Why is the far-right benefiting from the crisis of capitalism?
28 September 2017
World Socialist Web Site
https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2017/09/28/pers-s28.html

Sunday’s election in Germany saw the rise of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) and collapse of the official left party, the Social Democratic Party. With more than 90 deputies in the incoming parliament, the entry of the AfD will mark the first time since the end of the Third Reich that outright fascists and racists participate in the national legislature.

Far from an exception, the electoral triumph of the neo-fascist party in Germany is part of a pattern being repeated again and again throughout Europe and internationally.
In Britain, the far-right, anti-immigrant UK Independence Party (UKIP) emerged as the leading political force in last year’s referendum vote to exit the European Union. In France, National Front leader Marine Le Pen made it to the runoff in this year’s presidential election and captured 34 percent of the vote, doubling the result obtained by her father in 2002. The neo-fascist Freedom Party is expected to enter the national government following next month’s elections in Austria.

In the United States, the fascistic billionaire real estate speculator and TV personality Donald Trump won the 2016 election, bringing to power the most right-wing government in American history.

These developments raise a critical question: Why has the decade following the greatest crisis of world capitalism since the 1930s, which nearly brought down the entire financial system and ushered in policies of brutal austerity and militarism internationally, seen a steady strengthening of far-right parties? Why have the social democratic and labor parties and the Democratic Party in the US not only failed to win support as a result of the gutting of social programs and impoverishment of broad sections of the working class, but suffered defeat after defeat?

For the past decade—and beyond that, the past four decades, particularly since the dissolution of the Soviet Union—there has been a complete dissociation of what is presented as left politics from any opposition to capitalism. The British Labour Party, the Australian Labor Party, the French Socialist Party, the German Social Democratic Party, the Democratic Party have all abandoned any orientation to the working class or concern with the social issues workers face. They have substituted an orientation to racial and gender identity for class questions, a false and reactionary basis for politics.

Continued ...

The most reactionary political forces have exploited the vacuum created by the absence of any challenge to the capitalist system to come forward as the representatives of the masses. They have worked to divert social discontent along right-wing, nationalist channels. Their populist posturing is completely cynical. These same forces demand even more savage social cuts and bigger tax windfalls for the corporate elite.

It is not that the masses of workers support racist and fascistic policies. The votes for these parties have largely been protest votes against the established parties, which have provided no progressive outlet for social discontent. Moreover, the masses know full well that the “left” parties are directly implicated in imposing the austerity measures demanded by the banks and corporations.

In Britain, the Labour Party under Tony Blair and then Gordon Brown continued and expanded the policy of social cuts and anti-strike “reforms” launched by Margaret Thatcher and her Tory successor John Major.

In France, the Socialist Party government of Francois Hollande imposed the first round of labor “reforms” attacking workers’ rights and protections, cut taxes for the wealthy and put in place a permanent state of emergency. His successor, Emmanuel Macron, who has imposed a more far-reaching labor law “reform” by decree and is demanding deeper social cuts, was a minister in Hollande’s government.

In Germany, it was the Social Democratic-Green Party coalition government of 1998-2005 that began the destruction of the post-World War II welfare state with its Agenda 2010 and Hartz laws. In this election, the Social Democratic Party, far from offering an alternative to the AfD, sought to outdo the neo-fascists in calling for military rearmament, sharper attacks on immigrants and the strengthening of the police. The SPD focused its attacks not on the far-right, but on what it called “left-wing extremism.”
The model for the imposition of savage austerity by the “left” is the Syriza government in Greece, which came to power in 2015 promising to defy the European Union’s austerity diktats and promptly rubber-stamped the austerity regime. Next it overrode a popular referendum vote against the cuts and imposed measures more brutal than those of the previous conservative and social democratic governments.

In the US, the Democratic Obama administration, which came to power promising “change you can believe in,” expanded the bailout of Wall Street, attacked social services and health care and oversaw the biggest transfer of wealth from the bottom to the top in US history.

Now, the Democrats have abandoned any defense of immigrants from Trump’s onslaught, remaining silent on his new and expanded travel ban. They have declared their readiness to work with Trump on economic policies, including tax cuts for the rich and new attacks on health care.

As the White House threatens nuclear genocide against North Korea and war against Iran, the Democratic Party is focused obsessively on its McCarthyite campaign against Russia. In this it is allied with the dominant factions of the military/intelligence “deep state,” which demand that Trump pursue a more aggressive policy against Moscow.

Despite mass demonstrations in the US and around the world that greeted Trump’s inauguration (which the Democrats worked to suppress and channel behind their war-mongering anti-Russia crusade), the political initiative today rests with the most right-wing forces in and around the Republican Party.

Trump and his former White House adviser Stephen Bannon of Breitbart News are working in tandem to create a base for a fascist movement in America.

This week, in a campaign speech for the far-right Christian fundamentalist Roy Moore, who won Tuesday’s Republican primary for a US Senate seat from Alabama, Bannon gave a fascistic speech in which he appealed to the social grievances of workers and other oppressed layers. The multi-millionaire former Goldman Sachs investment banker denounced the “corporatist, donor, consultant, K Street lobbyist, influence peddler, politician class” and the “economic hate crimes done to working men and women in this country.”

“They’ve gutted this country,” he declared. “They’ve gutted the manufacturing jobs and shipped them overseas.” He linked the opioid addiction crisis to “factories and jobs shipped to China and workers left behind in total despair.”

To the extent that the working class remains subordinated to the Democrats and the two-party system in the US—and to the social democratic and “left” nationalist parties in Europe, Asia and Latin America—there is a real danger of the rise of fascism.
The growth of the far-right demonstrates that the separation of the fight against Trump from the mobilization of the working class in opposition to capitalism is bankrupt. In every country, the same issues are posed with enormous urgency.

Nothing short of a revolutionary socialist movement of the working class can stop the growth of the right wing. One hundred years after the October Revolution in Russia, the perspective that guided that historic event must be revived. The Bolsheviks insisted that the only answer to the imperialist war and the social crisis was a direct assault on capitalism.

Today, as then, the working class must seize the wealth of the financial elite and use it to dramatically reduce social inequality. The major industries and banks must be placed under public ownership and democratic control to provide good-paying jobs, education, housing, health care and a secure retirement for all.

Doubling down on your lie doesn't make it true, moron-dude. The Democrats have never in your lifetime, nor mine, been so far right-wing as they are today. And that's true of all factions of liberalism from the labor unions, to the non-existent anti-war movement, to tax cuts for the rich, to school privatization, and more. In fact, today, the Democrats and liberalism attack Trump from the right.

The Russians are coming! The Russians are coming!
12 June 2017
World Socialist Web Site
https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2017/06/12/pers-j12.html

Excerpts:

The World Socialist Web Site has repeatedly explained the political issues in the anti-Russian campaign, which represents an effort by the most powerful sections of the military-intelligence apparatus, backed by the Democratic Party and the bulk of the corporate media, to force the Trump White House to adhere to the foreign policy offensive against Moscow embarked on during the second term of the Obama administration, particularly since the 2014 US-backed ultra-right coup in Ukraine.

Those factions of the ruling class and intelligence agencies leading the anti-Russia campaign are particularly incensed that Russian intervention in Syria stymied plans to escalate the proxy civil war in that country into a full-fledged regime-change operation. They want to see Assad in Syria meet the same fate as Gaddafi in Libya and Saddam Hussein in Iraq. Their fanatical hatred of Putin indicates that they have similar ambitions in mind for the Russian president.

Of what does the “undermining” of US democracy by alleged Russian hacking consist? No vote totals were altered. No ballots were discarded, as in Florida in 2000 when the antidemocratic campaign was spearheaded by the US Supreme Court. Instead, truthful information was supplied anonymously to WikiLeaks, which published the material, showing that the Democratic National Committee had worked to sabotage the campaign of Bernie Sanders, and that Hillary Clinton had cozied up to Wall Street audiences and reassured them that a new Clinton administration would be in the pocket of the big financial interests.

These revelations certainly damaged Clinton, but only because they confirmed what the American people already thought of her: that she was a corrupt stooge of the financial oligarchy.

As for intervening in the elections of other countries, this is a practice the American ruling class has perfected through much practice. One case deserves special mention: the intervention of US political operatives, directed from the White House, in the 1996 Russian election, for the purpose of ensuring the reelection of Boris Yeltsin. At the start of the campaign, Yeltsin was polling in the single digits and facing growing popular opposition. A July 1996 Time magazine cover, showing Yeltsin holding an American flag, summed up the campaign: “Yanks to the Rescue: The Secret Story of How American Advisers Helped Yeltsin Win.”

Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 election because she ran as the candidate of Wall Street and the military-intelligence apparatus and made no appeal to working-class discontent. This was after eight years during which Obama had intensified the economic stagnation, wage cutting and austerity that had been going on for decades, while overseeing a further growth in social inequality. This right-wing orientation has continued to guide the Democratic Party in the first months of the Trump administration.

The Democrats are not fighting Trump over his assault on health care, his attacks on immigrants, his militaristic bullying around the world, or even his status as a minority president who can claim no mandate after losing the popular vote. Instead, they have chosen to attack Trump, the most right-wing president in US history, from the right, denouncing him as insufficiently committed to a military confrontation with Russia.

Quote from cherisays:
I really hope condork is on a watch list..

About 20 years ago, when I first started debating politics on the Internet, I quickly took over the political chat rooms.

Every night the same scenario would play out. I would begin by selecting one of a host of chat rooms discussing politics only to find that the right-wing was beating the living shit out of a few liberals. It would be maybe 20 to 25 right-wingers, many of whom were just high-fiving the comments of their right-wing buddies, vs. 3 or 4 befuddled, p*ssy liberals.

I would start off in the chat room by making a few far-left comments that seemingly stunned the right-wing participants. They wouldn't respond at all. At that point, I would pick out the most aggressive right-winger in the room and begin to attack his political comments. Of course, he was then forced to respond. Within just a few minutes I would be the target of the right-wingers in the room and I would begin to take them down.

However, as the right began to take it on the chin, something very interesting and at the time unexpected happened. Instead of liberals joining in the fun of attacking the right and winning the political debate, they would quickly go silent and soon thereafter exit the room. The next to exit the room would be the high-fiver right-wingers who no longer were having very much fun. The room would be left with me and a tiny gaggle of the most fervent right-wingers. After a spell I would move on to another chat room and begin the whole process again.

There were a host of techniques being used to get me out of the political chat room, including invites by supposedly sexy women to join them in private chat rooms, to my postings not hitting the chat rooms, to just blatantly being thrown out of the rooms. I took it all in good fun. In fact, it became a running joke between my wife and I after I had been literally shut down for the night by the chat rooms that the NSA had decided to put an end to my fun for the evening. It was a joke. I was a nobody just having a little chat-room fun. Clearly, the NSA has better things to do than f**k with a nobody playing around for an hour or two on a political chat room.

Then one day, as I walked out of the house to go for a run, there was a car parked in front of the house with two men dressed in suits. Always being one to go for the joke first, I ducked back inside the garage, opened the door to the kitchen and with a slight smile on my face told my wife, "Hey, the NSA is outside." She laughed.

But as I exited the garage, those two men sitting in the car with their windows closed were both staring at me with their mouths hanging open. At that point, I finally began to give the situation a proper analysis. We lived in the very back of a subdivision. Nobody came back there except the handful of people who lived there. What the hell was that car doing back there and parked in front of my house? How could those people in the car with their windows up have possibly heard what I had said? Unless they had some type of listening device that people working for the NSA might have. And why did they look so stunned after I made the little NSA joke to my wife? Unless, of course, I accidentally had been exactly correct with that joke and they were, in fact, the NSA?

Yeah, no doubt I'm on a watch list or two. But they've shut me down from all the major message boards. The chat rooms long ago became garbage. They could shut me down completely from here, too, if they wanted to. So, for now, they appear content to let me screw around on a little bit on a dating site with a bunch of their BFFs while keep watching me.

Regina, I saw this same story on Louder with Crowder. Too funny.

College is the destination location to transform your mind into something resembling roadkill. At least for the people unfortunate enough to find themselves featured on a Campus Reform “student on the street” video.

Question: is there a “witness protection” kind of program for people who get busted as dumbasses? Asking for all these young scholars, who totally love Donald Trump’s Tax Plan.

After watching student after student expressed their disapproval of the plan, we then asked those same students what they thought of Senator Bernie Sanders’ new tax plan.
Immediately, they expressed excitement and support after hearing the details of the plan.
The only problem for them? There was no tax plan for Senator Sanders. The plan they loved was actually President Trump’s.

I myself only found the World Socialist Web Site after somebody posted one of their articles to a message board. That's also how I found Information Clearinghouse. The criminal US ruling-elite isn't going to lead you to those kinds of sites. They want us all plugged into CNN and Fox News.

Reminds me of 10 or so years ago, when Hannity was doing a "man on the street" segment. A POLITICAL SCIENCE MAJOR didn't know an election was coming up, let alone who was running.

Now, that Man on the Street segment was hysterical! You could always count on getting a good laugh when that was on. Those truly were fun times - before everybody became so uptight. WIsh Sean would lighten up a bit on his show nowadays and do that segment for some fun, but he's on a mission to educate the American people, I guess...not laugh at them.

It would be pretty hard to convince many students (who are generally of above-Republican intelligence) that massive tax cuts for the wealthy is Bernie's tax plan.

Your lies continue to be pathetic, OP.

What the heck... Despite knowing exactly what I was going to see, I did. I guess I'm just that bored.

Shockingly, the liar with the microphone completely misrepresented the Trump tax plan. Not a single mention of tax cuts for the wealthy and big multinational corporations, when that is the whole point of Trump's plan? How did I know to expect that? lol

To present what he did as a complete tax plan to be judged is obviously a lie.

I mean, I could come up with a plan that eliminates all tax for the wealthy, cuts middle-class income taxes by 1%, creates a sales tax of 100% on everything the middle class buys, and leaves the deficit to spiral up 400%, and then interview people saying "Lobo's tax plan cuts your income taxes by 1% - Now that you've heard that, what do you think of it?" Would you also claim that is a reasonable presentation of the question?

Bernie thought that he could divide the Democrats and win the Democrat vote.

Well, he succeeded to a degree, and ended up gifting the Republicans a victory.

Hillary proves she was right again, "We are stronger when we are together"!

Why Bernie ran as a democrat, or Why Bernie was allowed to run as a Democrat, is the real question here for true Democrats.

Bernie may caucus with the Democrats most of the time, but he clearly defines himself as a an "Independent Socialist Democrat" which is not the thrust of the Democrat party.

I believe that the DNC rules must change, in that you have to be a carded Democrat and Registered to the Democrat Party to be allowed to run as a Democrat!

If you claim to be an Independent, then you should have to run as an Independent!

Just my thoughts!

Open challenge for all of you right-wing minions... Erm, "conservatives" of DH:

Post a link to the document that details this "Trump Tax Plan". Not a patchwork quilts of tweets about putting Hillary in jail and declaring China a currency manipulator and whatever else he's lied about. The complete itemized list he is proposing to Congress. That is what "Tax Plan" means. Not random thought bubbles.

The #1 thing you should look for is how would the capital gains tax and inheritance tax change? (Since that's where the wealthy get their money - Wage income taxes don't affect them.)

#2 - How much revenue will be lost by those cuts (increasing the deficit), and what tax will be increased to compensate?

#3 - If tax-avoiding corporations are allowed to lock in the profits they have hidden in offshore accounts to avoid paying their US taxes over the past bunch of years, via a "tax holiday"... What will be done to prevent them from just starting the same process over again? Why would any corporation pay US tax when they can stash the money overseas for a few years until some Republican Congress hands them a get-out-of-jail-free card?

Everybody who earns money should have the same right to the money they earn. You shouldn't have any right to somebody else's earnings, and nobody should have the right to some of yours.

It is clear to me that Donald Trump and Steve Bannon are trying to Hijack the Republican party, and are succeeding at it! Trying to hijack the party and send them far out on some kind of Right-Wing Nationalistic, Tribalistic, lunatic fringe.

The 2016 election also clearly demonstrates to me that Bernie Sanders tried to Hijack the Democrat party- and he succeeded with that too. The only difference between him and Trump, is Bernie was trying to take out party out on some kind of extreme Socialistic lunatic fringe on the left.

Well, for the first time in political history, both parties were hijacked, and look at the fine mess we are in today in Washington.

Look at the in-fighting in both parties.

The ones doing most of the fighting are those out on both sides of the lunatic fringe!

Be careful what you ask for- You may just get it!

In short, all you have to do is ask yourself if Donald Trump get's richer and personally benefits from his tax plan by millions of dollars to understand his clear motives in asking for such a plan?

I think that's Trump's motive for pretty much everything he does - That and getting people to praise him.

Why do you think Mar-a-lago doubled their membership fee right after Trump became Pres?

Why do you think Trump responded like this when asked about conflict of interest between his governing and personal profits? (And why was he obviously well-prepared to talk about how the President can legally exploit those loopholes?)

That's what you think!

I've never desired to be rich. And I know others who are happy with what they have and are happy to make do.

I've had the good times and the bad, and money was not the significant factor.

I can say that I have always managed to have most everything I ever wanted.

If I missed out on anything, it wasn't something money could buy anyway!

No one has been able to verify what Donald Trump does with his salary.

He said, he was going to donate his salary. True that! But, that is the last anyone has heard about his salary.
