Ok, I'm not dumb, but I have been given different definitions from different men of what they are saying a casual relationship is! When I first started posting a profile I was going to say "casual relationship" but my best friend said, no you don't want to say that or the guys will think you are saying you want to just have a friendship relationship but with sex!!! I was like whoooooaaa thats not me!! So what do you all say is the "MAIN definition of a casual relationship????

Well, to me, a casual relationship is one where there is no sex involved...you know, you're getting to know each other as friends first. But everyone will have there own definition I suppose.

Unfortunately, your friend was probably right.
There are LOTS of differences but most guys will probably take it to the lowest common denominator.
"casual" equates to "easily laid" in our world these days.

I see some replies, thanks, and so far it seems everyone pretty much think the same thing, That's why I've stayed away from guys who say they want just a casual relationship. That's just not in my ball park!!!

Unfortunately I have recently had to analyze that very question without the term being used. So- I was crazy about this guy, told me he was looking for someone to spend time with and see where it went. So it went- went to him always having his child and my child together always at his place, him talking to me everyday about how much he liked me, making me feel very special and wanted, knowing I was crazy about him even though he never once left his comfort zone to do something I asked him to do or even to come to my apartment just once! Never. 6 months later, nothing had changed, he was still telling me how much he liked me, yet come to fine out- he was still dating other people and telling all them he wasn't seeing anyone. I think that sums up casual relationship to a tee. I just wish I had seen it sooner.

Someone I can date one or two times a week, talk to, laugh with, go to dinner and dancing, and various other things that we decide to do together. No drama or arguments just enjoyable times when we get together. That's my idea of a casual relationship. But if I found myself in a relationship like that, I'd want more. Go figure.

i think with most guys these days it does not matter how you word it they always think sex is in any type of relationship and are willing to risk a good "friend" relationship for sex. they think if the relationship is good sex will make it better. How about friendly relationship?

I checked, the word "married" ain't there, not even by implication. He assumed she knew what he meant by "casual relationship" and acted accordingly.

i keep seeing alot of people use the term "casual sex" well isn't almost all sex casual?
casual adj. 1. occurring by chance. 2. unpremeditated; not planned. 3. informal;relaxed. 4.without specific purpose; aimless; unconcerned .
so unless your trying to get pregnant or you plan out your times and dates to have sex and how your going to do it then it's casual . it doesn't matter if it's with a friend , spouse , significant other , or a stranger it's still casual at least i would hope so because if you plan out all the details in advance then i'd call it boring

If I saw in a lady's profile that she wanted a casual relationship, I would think that she wanted a not serious relationship. She does not wish to reveal a lot about herself and does not want me to reveal a lot about myself. For me, there is no sex without a serious relationship. We all do what we like and I do not do casual sex, but for me a casual relationship means I have casual relationships with others as well and so does she. I have had sex with only one lady in my life and that lasted for 33 years and 8 months. The last 9 months there was no sex and the relationship was quite casual (though I dated no one else). No pride, no judgment, just me. But what is my opinion against hundreds?

Sounds comfortable, not casual. Do you have a complaint? He wouldn't come to your apartment? Or, you think he was dating other people?
