Writing is a great form of not only self expression but also of self therapy. Since we are all little more than a sum of our parts I find that almost all writing is derived from experience on one hand or lack or experience on the other.

Alas a missing Muse ..... They are ever fleeting and no one has hold or them. Sadly this happens often but sometimes the lack their of can bring insights into pain and emptiness that few view in the real world.

I am going through a divorce, and when things are really bad, one of the most therapeutic things I can do is stop at a bookstore, library, etc., and read some books of poetry. sometimes the poems describe exactly what I am feeling, but even if they don't, the sheer beauty of the words, the imagery, the messages conveyed just fill me up with their beauty.

I have also written poetry. I think when things get better, I'll go back to writing my own poems again. but now, I need to heal my own bruises by reading other poets' works.

Poetry on high is a hallmark in the theatre of the heart. It’s words house the hopes and the dreams, the heartaches and heartbreaks of the living experience. Each unique combination or words declares the divinity or the mundanity of the minds eye. Each and every poem holds not only the joys and the jubilations but also the agonies and the ecstasies of the poet. It attempts to define all that is divine within the soul and spirit of a dreamer who has sets pen to paper. Through out history poetry has chronicled the destiny and the diversity of all mankind: sweet, wonderful, romantic, painful poetry. It is the earthly manifestation of all that is majestic within in this universe. It is the earthly manifestation of all that is divine on the stage of life. In this Cathedral of Humanity stands poetry, a hallmark on high in the theatre of the heart

Well since some if not many of you do write, I cordially invite you to post some of your work here. I will start it off with a simple piece that I call: Theatre of the Heart.

Poetry is a theatre of the heart
It is a hallmark on high
The poet's words
House the hopes
House the dreams
House the all the heartaches and the heartbreaks of the author
In poetry we declare the divinity and or the mundanity of the mind’s eye
It holds the joys and the jubilations
The hopes and the dreams
The prayers, the pains and the platitudes of the dreamer who has set pen to paper
Poetry sets forth to define all that is divine within the poet
It sets forth to detail the destiny and or the diversity of all mankind
Sweet, wonderful, romantic, painful poetry
In essence it is the earthly manifestation of all that is majestic
In essence it is the earthly manifestation of all that is divine
In essence poetry is a theatre of the heart
A stage upon which we act out all that is good
All that is noteworthy
All that is nefarious or nonsensical
In the Theatre of the heart
In the Cathedral of Humanity

Now that is interesting because getting a divorce turned me into a Poet.

I became a Poet within days after I left my ex. Not to kill the time or help me through it. Just something I found neat to do. See I was sharing my writings with people over the Internet and enjoying their comments. Three months after walking out on Ex, a publisher saw some of my work and called me up. But for a few years I kept telling publishers and readers I wasn't good enough to have a book.

That is how I became a Poet. Which amusingly enough I hated poetry growing up and never read any of it. Some folks say I am a pretty good Poet.

LOL.. I put one on a blog to see what people do.

I will say this for people who like writing Poetry. Keep writing and never think your not good enough to one day be published. If someone thinks you are good enough, trust what they say.

However, if anyone, especially a love one or a friend says your Poetry is not that good or your not good enough to be published. Ignore them and never show them another piece of your work. Family and friends are most often what causes writers blocks in writers of all kinds.

Luck to all of the Writers out there. And do keep reading out there, it helps encourage writers to continue what they enjoy doing.

It is my own work though inspired by actual person.

NOTE: Poetry. The true essence of feelings from one's heart and
created by their soul. Though poetry don't have to come in the
form of a poem...but any writing could become poetic. I have
written since 1977 and have not only have I authored numerous

I wish those of you whom might be inspired writings to never
give up the dream of being published, for it's a part of yourselves.

ANOTHER DAY

Close your eyes and drift away,
to another place in time,
Take yourself to another day.
Where birds soar into the sunshine.

I know a place not unlike this,
Where I was alone with you,
When we had our first kiss.
Under a sky of blue.

It happened so long ago,
our hearts beating so.
Your face seemed to glow,
and our love began to show.

It was a love pure and true,
Like the plains where grew grass,
Where the sun shined through.
It was true love that last.

Throughout the many years,
the smiles and the tears.
Now We have grown old together,
Never judging the heart of the other.

Yeah..I write...not as much as I would like to lately though. Hear is one of mine. One of the few I will give to the world wide web

Road not taken

In the darkness
in the bliss
taking a path
chosen by a kiss.

Road not taken
hot summer heat
a new ruler is chosen
fire at his feet.

Beware the deeds of ego and spite
be wherry the lost smile and shadows at night.

Alternet endings
things we don't see
shads of gray
in between reality

The hand not shaken
the pat on the back
the threat not given
the plan of attack

Sleep in a void of clocks mismatched hour
Pierced from the thorns of twin sided flower

Look through the tear in you're mind but beware
knowledge and power must handle with care

Actions choose wisely
all cut their paths
by sharp splintered toungs
and harts made of glass

Are you hear are you there
road not taken
does it disappear?
Does it pull you near?
whisper in you're ear?
watch you through the mirror?

Here's a couple of mine that others have liked:

First a limerick I wrote while driving through the mountains of Wyoming on I-80...

I am so overcome with emotion,
That I'd love to hang onto the notion,
That you feel love for me,
And in time we will see,
That we drank from the same sweet love potion.

I was thinking of the same girl when I wrote this one...

What can I do?

My heart I would gladly give to you,
But it was always yours anyway.
The first time I laid eyes on you,
It became all yours that day.

The way you smile when you look at me,
Makes this old heart go pitter patter.
You make me want to sing with joy,
When you show me that my feelings matter.

I love the way your perfume will linger,
Long after you’ve gone away.
I cherish each moment we spend together,
And always for more I pray.

The sound of your voice is music to me,
It’s the sweetest that I’ll ever hear.
The way it echoes all through my soul,
Just fills me so full of cheer.

I’m glad God chose to let us meet,
It was the best thing that he could do.
You’ve made my life worth living again,
Now what can I do for you?

I'm a prose man. I have to look at poetry as something I have to get through to get a grade in a Lit. class. I don't know why. I've tried and tried and follow all the rules such as reading them aloud and nothing clicks. My hat is off to you poets but my poetry benefit starts with limericks and ends with deep reading Shakespeare's sonnets. Even then I still fall really short in understanding most of them. My favorite author is Anne Bradstreet. Sadly not because her poetry sends chills up my spine but because she was America's first successful woman feminist. So to you folks whose minds are geared to gain pleasure and insight from poetry, my hat is forever off to you.

I think that writing poetry is a good way to reflect on the past as well as looking to the future. Its just how you write it that reflects your feelings as well as what you are thinking.

In the darkest of night the moon shines bright as the ocean waves crash apone the shores.
I see it in this poem that the moon light is hope & the night is the darkest part of a persons mind & the ocean is someones soul as well as the anger crashing apone the walls around the heart.

I also think that when a person writes poetry its a way of talking with out really saying anything.

I write poetry and short fiction. Poetry's a good outlet for strong emotions, either positive or negative. My most recent effort is called "Thirteen Reasons Why He Never Called You Back." Made me feel a LOT better.

Of course he still had to get a restraining order...

Do Dumb ditties count?

A little tired, but not so wired
As in my younger years;
I’ve also found that you can’t drown
Your troubles and your fears.
So, though I feel no wiser and I’m not half as cute
There’s a new adventure down this road
I can’t hang up my boots!

I write. It took me a really long time to realize that I'm not a bad person just because my 'art' is dark. They say in most writing there is 'some part' of the writer that is revealed. I think we all have a darker side. Mine just finds it's way to the keyboard. And it's funny as hell.

I wouldn't call myself a poet, but I do like to write short stories. Here's a little something that came into my head this morning, I hope it's not to morbid.

Spiraling Into Madness

I saw a face one day
whose it was I couldn't say
The face was familiar to me
but again, I couldn't quite see
I tried and tried to think
Who could it be
Then I looked a little closer
And guess what? It was me.

Just thought I would inject a little humor here.
Have a good day everyone who reads this.

I am a writer. my first love is poetry, but in order to sell my works I had to learn to write articles, stories, ect. and I included a poem in the middle of some of my articles.
I have been published 30 times since 1998. I was diagnoised w/cancer in 2004, had major surgery(my first surgery at age 60) five years 8 mo. later I am still here by the grace of God. I lived to see my husband die, 18 mo. later, my only child died...both of them had cancer. So it's me and my pets.
If you are called to write, I urge you to do so. Life is short, and what you write may make a great difference in someone's life.

Most of my life was spent on working with numbers...bookkeeping, tax returns, ect. but I had always written poetry from my heart for self expression. At age 56 (with over 150 poems written) I decided to self-teach on writing other genres, had no pc at the time so took advantage of library books...18 mo. later I sold my 1st two written pieces to the same publisher...one article and one poem. My now deceased husband was on the phone later that night. I overheard him telling one of his relatives "You should have seen Martha when she got her ck. from the mailbox. She acted like a 13 yr. old." When he hung the phone up I said "Tom, you were wrong...I never got that excited when I was 13!"
I had only 8 rejections before that sale and after 14 publications our county daily paper did a featured interview of me for the top front page. I was the featured story...Pres. Bush was on the lower half of the page. Felt good? You better believe that it did. I always urge anyone with an interest in writing to keep it up, and don't give up. The reward comes from self expression, then when you witness your writing being a blessing to a reader...wow1

I write poetry...have since I was 11. I used to have awful dreams...the kind where you woke up retching and crying. After a few years of counseling I finally had a therpist tell me everytime I woke up from a nightmare no matter the time to write it out of my mind. And it worked. I sleep alot better now days. LOL. I do still write mostly about sad stuff or dark thoughts but mainly of what I see in people around me. I have finally began to write about more happier stuff. And well....not sure if I should add this but I write erotica......very very good erotica. lol

As I look out of my window and watch the midnight rain
I try to think of things that will better ease my pain
The beautiful blue that is in the sky
Is a wonderful man to whom we said goodbye
He is no longer hurting he is no longer in pain
I will always dream of him here on Oakwood Lane
The flowers are in bloom amidst the midnight air
I don't foresee a near reunion
For life is so unfair
I will forever miss him and never will forget
the times we shared in happiness
For his love I was able to get
As I look on and try to smile
thinking of the days
Forever I will love him
And be back with him in a while.

This is the poem I wrote and read at my fiance's (Ryan's) funeral. I read it into music so that the poem had background music. If you guys could let me know what you think of this poem. I have plenty more where that came from and they are not all sad

Ariel's Birth

I gave birth to my little girl today
just a little before noon
Her daddy is so happy
he wants another one soon
As I hear her cry in the nurse's arms
I can't wait to hold and keep her warm
As I feel a tear fall down my face
I smile at her daddy's warm embrace
I cannot wait to take her home
and give her lots of love
For she is mine a gift from God,
A gift from up above
