I will never forget this one lady camping. She was squatting and fell on her turd!! That poor woman! She was a good sport about it though. Every gave a hard time about it all in fun. We ended up cutting a hole in a camping chair just for her the rest of the trip.
When I was just out of high school, a bunch of us went out to the woods on a little drinking trip, and were going to camp out. One of the girls went off into the woods in the dark to pee, and we heard BLOOD CURDLING SCREAMS...so we all went running into the woods with flashlights...she had squatted on the remains of a deer carcass. Poor gal was traumatized the rest of the trip.

I use the thermarest right up until I invite a lady friend along. Then it's a full sized air mattress but I'm a kayaker and not a backpacker so I gan afford the extra weight and bulk.

Thermarest actually makes a device to connect two matresses together. Then you just zip the sleeping bags together, and make all the "bouncy bouncy" you want!

I'm a Kayacker too. The best Kayacking trip I ever did was the Escalante River. The last river in the lower 48 to be discoverd by white men. It took me 6 days to get to Lake Powell. 110 miles. There were 4 of us. 2 of my buddys and my buddys wife. She was the tuffest one there by far. It was the funnest, scariest, craziest trip I have been on. My one buddy started to cry, I was a little freaked out, and my other buddy, was really freaked out. "Landslides going into the river". My friend Jennifer was definately the tuffest one there! She even did this trip while it was that time of the month!

I'm strictly a coastal flatwater kayaker. Been to Mt Zion in Utah. Most beautiful day hiking I've ever seen.

My profile pic is in Zion Nat'l Park going up to Angels landing! I spent 6 months in Zion. Can't say that I have heard of Mt. Zion though! The Subway in Zion has to be one of my favorite hikes. If you cruise right through it, it take 2 days. I think they only allow 25 people a day to hike that hike. The Narrows is a wet hike and you need a wet or dry suit. But definatley worth it!
I've never been someone that likes to camp in a campground. Sure I'll do it. I just don't like neighbors or a lame old campground host that tells you to shut up at 10:00pm.
Since I have lived in Zion, Bryce Canyon, and the Grand Tetons. I can tell you that there are plenty of ladies that love to campout, and backpack. There are the ladies that aren't going to cry if they break a nail, or have a butterfly land on them. But from all of my camping out, there are ladies that should never go camping. Just like there are guys that should never go to a Avon party!!

Sorry, I meant Zion Canyon. Beautiful. Hiked Angels Landing, pretty much everything except the Narrows. We just ran out of time.
Awesome place!

Really there are so many place to go in Zion, Cougar Draw, Left Fork, Right fork, The Markaguant, Kolob Terrace, The subway, The west rim, and so many other places. One could spend a whole lifetime and not see it all. I would'nt be able to say how many miles I have hiked in that park. I can say its one of my favorite places though. If one has never been to southern Utah, it would be hard to explain the sheer magnitude, vastness, solitude, diversity, wilderness and the lay of the land that is southern Utah. Zion is'nt even the biggest Nat'l Park in Utah. The Grandstaircase, by it's self is 1.8 million arces alone!
Woman can be funny in the wild. I remeber a lady that was so upset that there were squirels running around the Lodge at Bryce Canyon. Hello...... It's called wildlife!! Another lady got pissed off and called up the front desk and told them to turn off the thunder and lightning that was going around the park! Another lady told the park service to wash the black streaks going down the cliff faces in Zion. It's desert varnish. Another lady got pissed off that a tree that got struck by lighting was'nt clean up and taken away.
Hahahahaha it's all good different strokes for different folks right!!

Some people can only experience nature on a television screen.
My last ex was from Maine, and we used to go to Acadia Ntnl Park every year with friends. We would always hike to the top of Cadillac Mtn.
It was amazing to see all the fat folks at the top...IN THE PARKING LOT...wearing their "I climbed Cadillac Mountain" t-shirts....YEA! You "CLIMBED IT, alright! In your SUV on a PAVED ROAD!

Some people should'nt experience nature. "It can KILL". Some people don't have something called "Common Sense". Astonishing, I know but it happens every years somewhere in the world. There was a German guy that was taking a picture of his family. He could'nt get them all in the picture so he kept backing up to get them in the picture. He backed right off of a 500 ft cliff and died while his family just watched him. Sad but true!!!!

Many years ago I "climbed" Pikes Peak that way. NEVER again. Being the passenger, I was on the down cliff side of the car. Imagine being so close to the edge of the road that when you looked down out your window, you couldn't see the road, just a sheer drop.
Next time I "climb" Pikes Peak, or any similar Peak, it will be on my own 2 feet.

I like camping "rough style" -- in a tent. Sure, you can have a few amenities to improve your comfort level, provided you have the room, such as an air mattress, battery-operated lamps, etc. I have no problem with a pop-up camper, or even a travel trailer, but when you start getting into the RV's, that's no longer camping. You might just as well stay home then.
In my experience, most womens' idea of camping is the Hyatt Regency.
I wrote this on Page 1. I felt it bore repeating, seeing as several of the women who have responded in this thread up to this point have echoed these same words.
Damn, do I know how to call 'em, or what!

^^^^ THAT would be very cool! Thunder and I have talked about camping that way. He's been breaking me in slowly! Before we went the first time he told me that makeup attracts bears, LOL!!!! I told him then it's a good thing I wear very little makeup ~ I'll attract only little, itty bitty bears! I think I did ok! Maybe this spring we'll go for really roughing it.
EDIT: WOW, I type REALLY slowly on my laptop! My response was to moral's hiking!
Lass, I read Moral's post and I was thinking...
State College really isn't that far away.
I am really proud of chatte from our camping experiences this past year. I was so
proud in fact that I broke down and got her a ceiling tent fan that also doubles as
a light. (Hanging my head in shame at allowing such an amenity) She hung in there when
the weather was not the best and only showed trepidation when "Boris" The King of The
Daddy Long Leg Spiders arrived with twenty others of his kin. She became an expert
at gathering perfect kindling and makes the best damn camper's coffee that I've
ever tasted. Any meal that we prepared was absolutely delicious whether it was my
Spiedies or her London Broil and we had our share of "smores" as well.
I can't wait for the Spring to arrive so that we can get at it again and I think
that a trip like Moral's is definitely in order.
Chatte is soft in ALL the right places BUT...
is a tough Lass when it comes to hanging out in the elements.
Sorry Lads...She's All Mine!

Screw camping...it's the equivelant of being homeless. It's so much fun to haul all your shit to a pre-determined destination just to haul it back and clean it up.
It's fun when you're 16.

I don't know about the other women , but I Love camping , been doing it since I was very young Where else can you be so close to nature and be able to pee in the woods without anyone telling on you To me camping is not staying in a cabin or in an RV , it is laying in the tent and listening to the crickets at night and waking up to the birds in the morning

If they have an RV with electricity and runnig water...lol
This is only my opinion. If girls liked campimg the way we do they would have to be tomboyish(just made that word up) u know what i mean.
We men like nice litle delicate things that need us to take care of them not some 220lbs built woman that can bench press you.
By the way i think all women are the most precious thing on this earth..

I would like to try it once...none of my profiles ever professed loving camping. I was born and raised in Vegas so I believe in Marriott, Best Western, Super 8 and hotels on the Strip. My grandparents had a cabin with TV, VCR, radio, power, water heater, running water, satellite dish, fireplace and heaters. That was roughing it. Now, I have heard it's fun to pitch a tent. I would love to try it once for a night. See how it is. I mean it would be a comedy of errors since I hate sticky so the smores adventure would be very interesting. I also thought there were microwave ovens you can plug into a cigarette lighter in your car and zap your food. Cook over a fire?? You have go to be kidding??? LOL!! I have never done that. I am willing to try this once and see how it goes. But put that as a fav in a profile? No way. I have left that under the category "for a man with a video camera that wants to make a buck on America's Funniest Home Video" when he dares to take me out of city limits and attempt this feat!

Of course I do....I LOVE camping.
As long as we get to sleep in a romantic Bed & Breakfast with fireplace...featherbed...feather comforter...feather pillows...get served breakfast...go to eat dinner in a 5 star inn nearby.
Then we can rough it out in between breakfast & dinner on the trails nearby....find a hidden waterfall and make out....even go down on ....errr...a small hill.
Camp by the brook for a couple of hours while we catch our lunch...cook in banana leaves and feed it to each other.
Did I mention taking a million and fifteen pictures of everything?
Yeah...of course I Love Camping. What's not to like.
Now take me camping.

I do really like it BUT, only in cool, to cold weather.
I use to winter camp in Colorado all the time with my X.. I even have a espresso
maker. We would go to the Rec/Cnt daily to relax our muscles (from skiing all day) in the jacuzzi, and shower dailY.
Look at what I would wake up to.
Love It.

THAT type of camping hiking Moral is speaking of is quite awesome...
I did that with my ex we were close to the Olympic Mountains in Washington, and we carried a gun strapped to our leg due to the so called "critters" bear and mountain lions BUT I NEVER got to see one while hiking to make a camp...
Those critters so to speak were on my property I lived in the mountain woods rather cool...to go the bathroom outside on your own property
I'm sure you'd love that experience next!

You're "near" the outdoors in your own house, too. If you consider an RV 'camping', you might just as well stay home.
