anyone have any suggestions. preferably free.
something like microsoft streets and trips.
i have programs in my phone. but that can be time consuming. would rather use the pc.
i'm looking for something that can help me plan trips. so i know what i'm looking at when i'm riding the motorcycle. such as miles for the entire trip or stops between and where i'm going to need gas at. stuff like that.

those two are only good from point A to point B. they can't do multiple stops.
that's why i asked.
microsoft. i can put in multiple stops.

OBVIOUSLY you have NEVER utilized "Google Earth..!!!
NOT only point A to Poinr B..
BUT..
you can zoom in on your route..
or ANYWHER on EARTH to see EXACTLY
what you'd be seeing were you there..!!
It IS a big download ( apprx 80 MB )..
BUT..
Once you LEARN and ADJUST your settings..
There is NOT much you cannot do with Google Earth
that you cannot do where you ther in person EXCEPT
maybe physically touch something/someone..!!

I figured YOU,
more then most,
would know THAT.
( and ALREAY have utilized it for "other" things )..
Download the program..
then open it..
DO SETTINGS THEN...
( at top and at box in lower left TWO places )
Just put in your route..
then just glide along and
find where you'd like to go,
stop, visit, see, etc., etc.,
( designate as such )
you never need to leave your house..!!

i'd like to go from a to b to c to d and back to a.
microsoft i can put multiple points and bring myself around from start to start. making a complete loop.
so far all i can see in google is a to b. and then i have to start a new a to b.
i've used google earth for years but if you can show me how to plan the route from point A back to point A complete cirle.
P.S. i'm not a software guru. i prefer plain and simple.
we all have our things we're good at. but just becuase we can do one thing doesn't mean we're capable of all aspects for that one thing.
i HATE figuring out software. i prefer plain and simple. my brain has stimulating areas. motorcycles is one. software is NOT. that's my dumb area.

Google Maps Has Become a Real Trip Planner
The frustration of multiple destinations is over now,
if you use Google Maps. ( Google Earth )
With the addition of multiple destinations,
Google has not only caught up with Yahoo Maps
but significantly beat it.
The killer feature may not be obvious at first glance,
BUT IT IS EXACTLY what you describe..

you all specified google earth at first. and it's not capable. according to google searcgh query. neither is mapquest.
google maps will works for my basic needs. THANKS.

There is a NEW update for Google Earth
( a HUGE download )
It now has the privacy options on street view and
a bit of different access variations for use..
but has ALL the old stuff AND the new stuff
plus an "add-on" type widget for mapping/routing
with Google Maps..!!
( at top in toolbar far right map type of icon... )
The new update has to be manually done as "automated"
updates seem to stall a lot..
