Was a dairy farmer my self for a long time, a Farmall 544D was my favorit tractor at the time and my own 1st tractor and I still have it. Retired now and have added others I did not have when I was an attive farmer. But back then had a 706,& 766 But though a lighter weight class the 544 D was set to have the beans of the 706 & I liked it better, the 766 had the weight needed for some of the farming equipment. But I could work the 544 for 14 hours on a bit less than 15 gal of disel the 766 would have ben closer to 40 gal

Why not throw a new paint job on the old treasures so that they at least give the impression being useful.

Naw ... Gazzer ... I don't think paint on an old walker would help since the wood is probably all dried and cracked by now ....... Personally, as far as usefulness goes ... A chrome package wouldn't even help productivity at this point.

I have a couple of old rare trucks but the are just rusting away...I have a 62 Ford unibody long bed with a 62 experimental 390 in it, did not know how rare that engine was until I tried to get a new timing chain and gear for it, was only put in a few police cruisers, and of course the truck itself is extremely rare, the styleside as was the proper name, only built a few in 61 & 62. Was known as the drugstore cowboy truck as it would warp if taken off road with its one piece design.

Quote from stargazzer:
Haveing some trubbles with stuck motors lately, 1st one I soked with kerocine a few months back, today I re-filled it with Blaster before I try pulling it again, It's a Budda motor in a Oliver crawler, 2nd one is a 1944 chevy 235 I found stuck recently so today I also put blaster in the sparkpug holes & also blew in air & poured a good quantity of Blaster down the carb. Hopeing it to may turn over the next time I try to pull it. 3rd I have a 2 cilinder JD combine motor stuck, I have not goten to it yet as just bought it, was said it was running 5 years ago But now the crank will not turn it over, will likely give it the blaster treatment as well when I get to it. I hate stuck motors But most seem to move over in time though I totaly failed to get my Molin R un-stuck
are you sure the 44 chevy truck hhas a 235 i bet orignal was a 216 six cyl.

Yes it does, I think the front two are slightly differant but I'm shure they are time period correct. But they all need to be replaced now about $1600 + just to do that!!

What does snow and gardens have to do with old tractors?

The snow is good for the ground because it retards the growth of bacteria in the soil.
