OMG I remember filling the car with pillows and blankets and a bag of popcorn. What fun that was. Before the movie stated all the kids would be at the playground in front of the big screen. Oh, and in highschool groups of kids would hide in the trunk and wait until dark to climb out to watch the movie.

Was the mill on a river? What a waste of good river front if they put a research center there.
...No river..They had a lake beside the mill...It was Cannon Mill...Made towels, sheets....Then it was Fieldcrest-cannon, and they tried to get a union in..That failed, so they finally shut down...Guy named Murdoch bought it, tore it down...

A wonderful restaurant in the mall during teen years. Ambience, amber glow lights, dark inside, and as 3 of us teen gals came to age and got driver's licenses and wanted to feel all grown up..or coming into our own...we would go there dressed up and have the best char-broiled or open flame cooked burgers ever made and feel so special. I miss that time of life and the place. It closed. I don't know what is in its place so many years after.
P.s. if I go into a book store..new or used, don't look for me to exit for 3 hours.

I'm with ya on that! Borders even had a cafe so you could order a capicino and get cozy in a chair to look over the books before you made a decision to buy.  gosh I miss that.

As a child....Climbing trees and sitting on a "y" branch awhile..hearing branches squeak as they rubbed during wind gusts and feeling so delighted and relaxed in nature..while also feeling the independent feeling of being alone and safe though out of parental sight.

I really miss golf. I fell in love with it when my friend got clubs for Christmas when I was ten. I got my own when I was eleven. I played everywhere-everyway until I was 18 - got a hole-in-one when I was 17 -was shooting almost scratch by then - got my highschool letter. Then, the music and the politics and the assassinations and war - it didn't fit in anymore. Played off and on, rarely - through the years. Totally different now - so expensive. Maybe I'll play again - maybe in my twilight years.

me too... copa vanilla egg creams in those paper cup dispensers that also poured in Coke in them too/ i recall as a kid they were like 5 or 10cents cents and a bag of chips weer 5 cents too/ a dime went a long way then reality kicked in since ..only at a fountain they could be made like that...memory lane should be the title of this thread...JMO

I miss sidewalks! The city planners are forcing us to use wheeled transportation for every little thing by not planning for sidewalks. They encouraged people to get out and walk and socialize in the neighborhood.

Life, you can check out state parks that have equestrian centers. They usually let you take the horses out for a minimal charge for a few hours and this time of year would be beautiful for a ride.
