Thanks, shorterthanshort, pop and lotsafun. I've mainly been lurking, just joined a week or 2 ago. I went to Final Friday last night here in Wichita with some friends then after went to the Brickyard. Everyone looked like they were in their 20's, which got me thinking, "I know where the boys are, but where are the men."

Men, feel free to jump in any time.....
I had a thought, women I need your thoughts too. Men like cars, guns, hunting, fishing, sports. That's probably where we'd find the men, at those events, but do men go to those events alone? I wouldn't. So, do men volunteer for things like Habitat for Humanity? I don't mind using a hammer, and that's somewhere I'd go alone. Any other ideas? Men?

Coffee shop. Good idea. I was in Panera buying some bagels, to do a little marketing to our referral sources, and noticed some men sitting in there reading the paper. Are they there on weekends???? Hmmm, I'll let you know.

Ahhh, that explains it. The single men come out once a year during the festivals? I missed that boat. Our Riverfest just ended. Darn. LOL. Just kidding. Do men go to those places without dates? Some of us are at grocery stores, home improvement stores, golf course, pool hall (that's me), car shows, ball games. Men don't usually feel the need to go WITH somebody to these places.

There is a greet brewpub in my area, and I do see men my age there. I also make it a point to sit
near men alone in church......hmmmm, two quite different spots! Tons of them at the local coffee hangout,
and best of all, try the GOLF COURSE!

I would observe her mannerisms for a few seconds or minutes....sizing her up in a way. If I'm not turned off after that, I'd try to think of some ice breaker to say to her.

Nothing works better than a smile and a nice HELLO. That is the hardest part --walking over and saying HI---after that just chat or if it is not working--just say something nice and excuse yourself. Be polite at all times.

To answer the question asked here--I don't work a normal job--never have had the usual hours--so I don't get to go out. I wouldn't know where to start looking. But the people here are nice--I enjoy this conversing with people from all over the US.

We have a big flea market and auction on Thursday nights just outside of town. The last time I went my girlfriend introduced me to a really nice guy. We exchanged phone numbers, he came over to look at my antiques. And I found out he was MARRIED. Drat. I haven't gone back over there since.

Yes, It does, I've been told that Lowes is the best place to chat up a man. You go in. You're looking for a thing-a-mabob but for the life of you you just don't know where to find it and you aren't sure what size you need and "do you think you could take a moment to look for this with me and maybe you will know the size I'm looking for". There you go. First conversation and done politely with eye contact and a smile. No need to check for a wedding band. Half the married men don't bother to wear them.
It's worth a try or as I said in another thread a couple of days ago. You can get up at 6am and go check out the 80 y/o men having coffee at McDonalds.....
My answer to your question is that your guess is as good as mine. However, I must add, i feel dating web sites opened up a can of worms for womens' chances of meeting men in the real world because, like us, they have fallen into the "cyber space chasm".

Wimsy, I have to agree with you on this one.
I look at these men's profiles, men in their 50's and 60's looking for "women" from 25 to 35 and I wonder, "Man, what are you looking for in a 25 y/o girl, a daughter or worse a granddaughter or even worse "arm candy"?
If a girl that age is looking for men in their 60's you can bet she is checking out his bank account first and then his financial statement.

i wonder sometimes where you all are.but,as far as where we are.we're every where.i'm in the super market,gas stations,movies,auto repair shops,home depot stores,doing my lawn,and just driving alone,have a peek over at me sometimes,give a wink,a smile,hell!even signal me to pull over for an exchange of phone numbers.i will be flaterd,and think to myself,wow!this is some woman.a woman in control.

Welcome to the new people!! Those places are all good places and I know you have seen me mention PWP and probably think it is for the younger generation, but I go to 3 different chapters dances here in my area and have gone to some on my travels and would like to say most of their dances are open to the public (dont have to be a member) and I would say that 90% of the people there are from 50 to 75 yrs old and single. so Ladies if you like to dance get some of your single lady friends and check one of them out! if none in your area and would like to start one let me know and I will get you the name of international person that will help you get one started. They are really fun, they have what they call mixer dances where the ladies go down one side of dance floor and gents down the other and when you get to the front of the dance floor the guy that is there you dance back up the floor with him(slow dance) and then go get in line again, usually get a different person each time. Just a thought

This may be slightly off topic...might have been covered in some other thread...but my guess is, without statistical backing, that more women over 60 are looking to marry than are men over 60. So, not only are we looking for available people in this age range, but obviously we are looking for people with similar goals as it pertains to a relationship. JMO
