Sanders Warns Governors About Devastating Budget Cuts
Monday, April 27, 2015
WASHINGTON, April 27 – Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) today warned all 50 governors about the devastating cuts their states will face if the Republican budget plan becomes law.

In a series of letters, Sanders explained what the cuts would mean for working families, the elderly, children, the sick and the poor if the budget blueprint for the next fiscal year is not revised. House and Senate action on a budget resolution is expected shortly.

“The Republican budget moves this country in exactly the wrong direction,” Sanders said. “At a time of massive wealth and income inequality, it gives huge tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires, while making devastating cuts to education, Medicare, affordable housing and prescription drug coverage.”

Sanders added: “Instead of creating jobs, it will lead to the elimination of more than 2 million jobs. Instead of making college more affordable, it will increase the cost of college for millions of Americans. Instead of eliminating hunger in America, it will add to the financial problems of low-income families with children and will create more hunger. This budget is the Robin Hood principle in reverse. It takes from the poor to give to the rich.”

Sanders specifically warned that the Republican budget goal of repealing the Affordable Care Act, combined with huge cuts to Medicaid, will end health insurance coverage for 27 million Americans – including nursing home care.

The letters to governors, and the impact of the Republican budget on each individual state, can be found here.

Our Senator of Burlington, VT is running for President.
I have always liked Bernie's concern for our seniors.
We had Howard Dean but I just didn't care as much for him as I do Bernie.

I just saw, on the local news, that Hilary Clinton won't debate Bernie.
Obama called him a pot smoking socialist. On Conan he did a clip on Bernie saying, "Who is Bernie Sanders?"
At least he's getting publicity.

The reason I like Bernie is because he never forgot the seniors and low income.
On Bernie's first day as mayor, they gave him a parking ticket. When they saw a clunky car in the mayor's parking space, they didn't think it was his. True story, lol.

I was watching/listening to the local news, and I'm often doing something else. I bet this is what I heard:

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is questioning whether Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is "prepared to take on the billionaire class" in her 2016 bid for the White House.

Sanders told Bloomberg his decision on whether to challenge Clinton will depend on how much money he can raise. However, he said he believes his pro-worker message resonates with many voters.

Bernie Sanders Delivers A Body Blow To Wall St With New Bill To Break Up The Big Banks
By: Jason Easley

sanders-republican-principles
Sen. Bernie Sanders is taking on Wall Street directly with a new bill that would break up the nation’s “too big to fail” banks.

At a press conference announcing the bill, Sen. Sanders said:

No single financial institution should be so large that its failure would cause catastrophic risk to millions of Americans or to our nation’s economic well-being. No single financial institution should have holdings so extensive that its failure would send the world economy into crisis. If an institution is too big to fail, it is too big to exist and that is the bottom line.

…..

If the American people are wondering why tens of millions of Americans are being charged interest rates of more than 20 percent on their credit cards, while big banks can receive virtually zero interest loans from the Federal Reserve, the lack of competition in the banking industry is a major reason for that.

If Teddy Roosevelt were alive today, do you know what he would say? He would say break ’em up. And he would be right.

And that’s exactly why we are here today.

The bill that I am introducing today with Congressman Brad Sherman would require regulators at the Financial Stability Oversight Council to establish “Too Big To Fail” list of financial institutions and other huge entities whose failure would pose a catastrophic risk on the United States economy without a taxpayer bailout.

This list must include, but is not limited to JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, and Morgan Stanley.

….

Importantly, under this bill, none of the institutions on the “Too Big to Fail list” would be able to receive a taxpayer bailout from the Federal Reserve; nor could they gamble with the federally insured bank deposits of the American people while they are on this list.

….

Senate Democrats delivered a blow to President Barack Obama today when they blocked debate on a major trade bill that the White House has championed.

On a 52-45 vote, the measure fell short of the 60 votes needed.

The rare filibuster by members of the President's own party speaks to the divisive nature of the bill.

Opposition to the measure, which would allow for quick approval of the 12-country, free-trade agreement known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership, has been building among progressive Democrats for some time.

Many Democrats and some Republicans believe past trade deals have hurt the U.S. economy and led to jobs moving overseas.

Conservative Refuses Obamacare, Blames Obama For Not Being Insured

This one is a perfect example of irresponsibility. Luis Lang of Fort Mill, South Carolina had a series of mini strokes that left him with a partially detached retina and bleeding in his eyes. The self employed moron man eschewed health insurance and prided himself on paying for his own medical bills. Why? Because Obamacare is Socialism don’tcha know?

Without treatment he will go completely blind, but he blames Obama for not being able to get health coverage.

Lang is a self-employed handyman who works with banks and the federal government on maintaining foreclosed properties. He has done well enough that his wife, Mary, hasn’t had to work. They live in a 3,300-square-foot home in the Legacy Park subdivision valued at more than $300,000.

But he has never bought insurance. Instead, he says, he prided himself on paying his own medical bills. [source]

Maybe if he hadn’t been so obstinate, he would have coverage and wouldn’t have depleted his savings. When he finally decided to sign up, it was past the deadline for the year 2015, so it’s all Obama’s fault and not his own. What is it that conservatives are so fond of saying? It was something along the lines of not wanting to pay for someone else’s medical treatments because they refused to get their own coverage. Funny how when a conservative needs something, they feel they should be first in line while others are undeserving and/or lazy.

“(My husband) should be at the front of the line because he doesn’t work and because he has medical issues,” said his wife, Mary Lang. “We call it the Not Fair Health Care Act.”

Lang found he was a month too late to enroll for 2015, and he now earns too little to get a federal subsidy to buy a private policy.

Lang and his wife blame President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats for passing a flawed law – although not even private insurers allow people to forgo payments when they’re healthy and cash in benefits after they’re sick. [source]

So now Lang is reaching out to reporters to get publicity, and to bash the PPACA that he should have signed up for long ago. Not to mention he has set up an online fundraiser so that others will pay for the medical treatments he needs instead of him being “responsible” enough to have his own insurance. In other words, he is one of those moochers that “wants others to pay his bills while he sits on his ass.”

Editor’s note: What Mr. Lang has proven here is not that he is irresponsible (although he was), he’s proven that the social safety net that he despises so exists for a reason. Sometimes people make patently stupid decisions. Sometimes they make a decision that seemed perfectly reasonable at the time but turned out to be wrong. Sometimes they make all the right choices and STILL find themselves in a desperate situation. Should we tell them to take a hike and ignore their plea for help? Conservatives would, and do, say “Yes!”

And then they’ll tell you how much they love Jaaaayzus!

But don't forget, the US trains are for the common people,
We are supposed to fund the oil companies, politicians, pharmaceuticals.

Why would we want to conserve the environment, improve peoples lives, and get with the program!
The governmental disorganization needs a tune up.One idea,

Former Reagan, Bush Adviser: Fox News is ‘Brainwashing’ Conservatives
(Video) May 26, 2015 By Allen Clifton

I’ve made my feelings clear on what I think about Fox News. It was actually just a few days ago that I was talking with a friend of mine about how much better off this nation would be right now if the network didn’t exist. It’s not a coincidence that we’ve become more and more divided as the influence that America’s most watched conservative entertainment network has in this country grows. It would be one thing if Fox News just delivered right-wing slanted news, but they don’t stop there. You see, a large part of everything they broadcast is based upon propaganda, sensationalized nonsense and fear which has nothing to do with real news. They basically operate with a simple formula of telling people that they’re the only trustworthy “news” entity and anything and everyone that might contradict what they say is part of the “liberal conspiracy” against them. But the truth is, Fox News isn’t really news, it’s just conservative entertainment presented under the guise that they’re a legitimate news channel. Well, former Reagan and Bush adviser Bruce Bartlett had some rather choice words for many conservatives and Fox News itself. During an interview on Sunday with CNN’s Brian Stelter, Bartlett accused conservatives of being “brainwashed” by media entities like Fox News and the rest of the conservative media. “Many conservatives live in a bubble where they watch only Fox News on television, they listen only to conservative talk radio Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, many of the same people,” Bartlett said. “When they go onto the Internet, they look at conservative websites like National Review, Newsmax, World Net Daily.” “And so, they are completely in a universe in which they are hearing the same exact ideas, the same arguments, the same limited amount of data repeated over and over and over again. And that’s brainwashing,” he continued. Everything he said is spot-on, because that’s exactly what’s happening. Many Republican voters have been brainwashed by the conservative media into only trusting right-wing media sources, and they’re often told that any source that’s not specifically deemed “conservative” is all a part of a giant liberal conspiracy against the truth. This clearly creates a bubble where they’re being fed the same rhetoric and the same propaganda over and over again without any sort of diversity as to where they’re getting information. It’s confirmation bias at its best. To be fair, many liberals are guilty of the exact same thing. I spend a good portion of my time trying to correct the lies liberals are being told by the left’s versions of Fox News-style media tactics. But it’s always nice to see someone linked to the Republican party call out “their side” like this. It probably won’t make a difference with many of the conservatives who come across his remarks, but at least they can’t accuse a former adviser to both Reagan and Bush of being “liberally biased.” Watch his comments below via CNN: The following two tabs change content below. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott Thinks Obama’s Invading One Day, Begs Him For Help The Next

May 27, 2015
Allen Clifton

It’s not really a big secret that Republicans are absolute hypocrites when it comes to many things. They’re the “small government, fiscally conservative Americans” who haven’t had a president from their party balance the budget in over 50 years (no, not even the “conservative icon” Ronald Reagan) and Republicans are huge fans of expanding government whenever it suits their ideology. But it’s their anti-government rhetoric that always fascinates me the most. Many conservatives don’t just dislike the government, they hate the government. Living in Texas, I’ve encountered plenty of conservatives who really believe the federal government is behind practically everything negative. They’re almost always the loudest and proudest to declare that they don’t need the federal government because it’s useless and inefficient; ironically, this is often said by many people living off Social Security and Medicare. But all that rhetoric seems to go right out the window the moment disaster strikes. When unfortunate events happen, suddenly the Republicans running these states and the conservatives living in them are huge fans of the federal government. Whether a hurricane strikes South Carolina, tornadoes rip up Alabama or floods wash away big parts of Texas and Oklahoma – Republicans are always there with their hand out asking for help and money from the federal government. You know, the very same federal government they constantly vilify and bash. So it wasn’t a big surprise when Texas Governor Greg Abbott almost instantly went begging to the Obama administration for help following the worst floods his state has ever experienced. You know, the same governor who recently ordered the Texas Guard to monitor the activity of the U.S. military out of suspicion that the very same Obama administration might be preparing an invasion of his state. Amazing, isn’t it? Abbott perpetuates this idea (as do most Republicans) that President Obama is some underhanded, anti-American shady character who’s so untrustworthy that he might be planning to invade Texas and declare martial law – then goes groveling to that same individual for all the help he can get following historic flooding in his state. We all know that this is nothing new. Republicans often like to brag about how much they don’t need the federal government, then go running to it nearly every time they need to be bailed out on something. And the most amazing part of all of this is, if President Obama said “no,” Republicans in Texas would be throwing a fit right now. The same Republicans who’ve based a large part of their careers on saying “we don’t need the federal government to do anything for us.” Sadly, no matter how much help the president sends Texas to help it recover from these devastating floods, nothing is going to change. Republicans in this state will still try to vilify the federal government and many of the conservatives in the state will still insist that “they don’t need the government to do anything for them.” That is, until the next disaster strikes, then they’ll be some of the first people looking to the federal government to come in and bail them out of whatever mess their state might be in. Just a quick note,
If you have to tell the people to trust you, you've already lost your credibility, as far as,
Underhanded politicians only looking out for their own good, having lost the concept of the word Constituents,
I thought that was a prerequisite to getting into public office .

OBAMA TO INVADE TEXAS…WITH TEMPORARY HOUSING, CLEAN WATER, FOOD AND CASH (VIDEO)

Floods of (ahem) biblical proportions have ravaged Texas this week, sparking questions about Texas’ refusal to install a floodplain management plan or offer funding for flood prevention infrastructure to its cities and towns.

One thing is clear, and that’s that Texas will need some serious help.

In the wake of the “Jade Helm” controversy, you know, the one where the President is gearing up for an invasion of real estate already under his purview, the President has shown that he has no hard feelings. Regardless of the stupidity exhibited by Texas Republicans and fueled by ignorance, POTUS is committed to making sure the people of Texas in need of relief will be taken care of.

As with Hurricane Sandy and the tornadoes that swept through Oklahoma, the President has pledged to do whatever he can, as swiftly as he can, to put people hurting from natural disaster back on their feet.

FEMA is already on the ground, and the President is ready for the expected “significant requests” he expects from Governor Abbott.

FEMA can be expected to help those misplaced when their homes were lost, as well as people in need of food and clean water.

Don’t worry, Texans. We won’t call you lazy for needing a helping hand.

I really don't understand this.

I have had to produce identification to cast my vote since I voted for Ronald Reagan. And, that form of identification has been my driver's license. They have asked for it--each and every time I vote. They also compare my signature with my license--What's the biggie???-

BTW--I do not vote along party lines--

My feelings, Hillary was thrown under the bus for a black man. I don't see her as a good candidate as a woman--A real woman would have thrown Bill out to hang by now--

In all honesty--We do not need another Bush or another Clinton.

And, Jeb was a great governor--At least he knew how to deal with hurricanes.

Did you even read past the first phases at the top of the meme? The reason I use so many info-graphs/memes is because there is little reading. BTW, I'm for voter ID. What a hypocrit this man is IMHO.

Not a hypocrite--I see him as a man that was a truly great governor--He really was--He knew how to ask for federal assistance--before it was too late--

And, as a man who was born into politics. Like it or not--I do believe his family did what they thought was right.

May surprise you--I voted for Gore--I hated that my state couldn't get their chad's right-

But, after September 11th--I was so thankful that Bush had won.

TAKE ANY KIND OF POLITICS OUT OF IT--

There are many nations that hate us--for religious reasons or just cause we have TRUE freedom--in the best sense of the meaning of freedom--

I will give my driver's license any day to vote--Cause I love my country and have no agenda-
