the closer it gets the more depressed i get.... He overdosed , i dont do drugs tried to help him get off them .... just feeling really lost these days no drive to do anything ....

I sure understand that no drive to do anything feeling. It must be especially hard when the anniversary is around the holidays. They're hard enough without that added to it.

It will be one year on Feb.22,2013 of next year for me. But at least I can see my old fellow in dreams and sense him from time to time

So sorry for your loss, my husband died of cancer at age 33, my suggestion to you, after experience would be: you're concentrating on how he died, don't let his death or how he died be in vain, talk to people (kids, teenagers especially) about the dangers of drugs, turn the negative into something positive.
I'm sure he was a good person without drugs, you've already learnt the permanent effects drugs can do, so, maybe you could help some teenagers out, it might make you feel better to some degree just knowing you helped save one child from drugs.
