Just curious...why? Have you tried 'tablature'? There are tab sites all over the internet. It may seem slow at first, but not nearly as slow as learning to read music.

This book I located at the local library-has full information, compared to other books-I personally have to re-learn,jog memory so to speak,to read music over all with many instruments.Has a web sight on it,www.maran.com-I glanced at the sight and it is offering sale of computer video-guitar learning-which includes music reading--Might be able to order book not sure.If you can not find what you need,I can always scan information, from book and send to you.Through e-mail.I have been looking for a good book. Not many in a good teaching format. This one looks good, yet just got it today.

Tab is for people who say, "I want to play music, I'm just too lazy to learn to read it".
This..^^^^^..and most that have no ear

I am making progress from use of the book I last posted information on.I see the most important issue is in memorization.
This scale is a priority to understand, each letter is a starting cord, that will be replaced with a beat sign-so when we see the note,we know the beat and cord to play.each line and each space has a cord and beat-to go with it.

Then we have the family cords,to understand, after we come to the understanding of the basic reading of music and all meanings of the symbols used.Again a constant memorization of information needed to know-then it is putting a puzzle together. And or creating your own puzzle etc...

I have my 2 regular guitars and my resonator guitar)Dobro) tuned to DGBDGB. There are alot of different tunings used besides EADGBE. Depends on what you are playing. I play slide a lot so the tuning comes out as a D chord

There are hundreds of free websites...
Just Google your guitar qeastion....and it will lead you to what your looking to find or learn.
I'm surprised that someone would even ask this qeastion almost...
but I still remember how hard it was for me to pick up or learn ..when I started
Or first picked up a guitar around the age 7.
My family was poor as shit.
And never looked at it could advance their children or their lives...so this moved a milestone for me..thousands of miles further away.
An older neighbor would sit with me ..and kept trying to teach me how to form a c-chord with my hands...the mans idea first had no logics to me.
So I kept finding dozens of qeastions in my mind.
That kept me from just following his intructions.
By not realizing he was
Actually giving me the key and first piece to an enormous jigsaw puzzle that laid behind the door behind it.
After a few attempts of help from the man ..I became discouraged.
..and would just walk around my yard beating my thumb up and down on its open strings ..as if I were playing the drums.
From all my years of trying to learn..from reading books ..asking anyone one and everyone that owned or mentioned guitars ..answers to my constant dozens of qeustions..to playing with people , watching videos , others peoples styles of play ,too listening to music and learning tab , notes , scales , and theory ..just so I could notate them. I studied guitar and instrument science based on how guitars are built and designed for different sound functions..Iv learned real sound is measured in nodes..and music is measured with notes..
I grew up as a carpenters son so I was forced to learn how to read a ruler at an early age.
I admit I have studied for miles and miles further than the most average player...yet I still have hundreds of more miles to learn.
I've used electronic gaudgets to advance Mr quicker , and utilize the internet ever since its becoming ..it has hundreds of teaching tools ...that did not even exist till I were about 30 years old.
The first milestone I learned that most don't teach or express ..I've found after almost a lifetime of playing is none of these tools or teachers never lean towards the science of your bodies and minds athletics.
A man who can not curl his fingers and has no calouses is a man who is not prepared to learn real music.
Like an athlete he must prepare himself ..like a soldier before battle ..you must first train them to be in shape , then release them as a weapon.
Their are some teachings that do stress on athletics ..but not as much as they do the music.
....I might return later and finish my ramble ..that never shared my most intended point.
SME things can't be taught in just one text...is all really.

Music is music. There is no such thing as guitar music.
You can study music theory all you want, and it may even help you learn to play guitar, but, it is not necessary. It is good to know music as it can help you learn to play anything you want to play.
You should already know how to read tab. But even that is monotonous. Today, there is someone with a video on Youtube to teach you any song you want to learn to play.
Learn your notes on a guitar, strings, scales, chords, and the techniques of playing.
Get your timing down, because if you don't have the feel for timing, all the music books in the world won't help you.
