I'm planning to get my own place again this summer. I'm excited about it. I was having financial problems after the divorce, so I've been living with my cousin for a few months. I'm very grateful to my cousin for taking me in, but it has been a difficult adjustment going from the head of a household, loosing my household, and moving into someone else's basement.
I'm still not as stable as I'd like to be, but it seems like I never am. I know that it would be a lot healthier for both my daughter and I when I get a place of my own again. I'm not looking for anything fancy at all, just a cheap two-bedroom place for us.
Long story short, I was just curious about other people's experiences with divorce and starting a new household with their kids.

Congrats! A step up.
I have no kids, just a dog. But I went from a house (that foreclosed) to renting one room. Its all I can afford. So I went backwards not forwards.

I did the same thing........but of course many years ago. It's never easy........and a little nerve racking. But like everything in life.....it all works out. And ...... It is still a perfect time to buy a home.....interest rates are still very low with all the available homes on the market. Good luck in finding your perfect home. It's always an exciting time
Unfortunately, the dynamics of divorce can adversely affect the ability for one to purchase.

When I was going thru my divorce, my two kids and I ended up living with my parents for about 9 months til I could afford to rent a place on my own.
It was better when that happened. I was able to get my kids back into a good routine and they got all their stuff back.
Good luck to you!

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone!
I think Soonergirl took the words right out of my mouth. I really want to get into a "normal" routine with my daughter, and I know she would like to get her stuff out of storage as much as I would!
