I try not to ask much of any human..
specially us vets here..
But this short " look back "...
is worth it...
It is nearly impossible to say it any better than in this video.
Take a moment to view it and
remember those from our families and relatives
who walked this path besides ourselves.
Currahee to ALL who served...

Currahee! Im not sure I would be who I am today without having enlisted and gone to Vietnam. At times it seemed like too much but I got through it and so did you.Having those jump wings on my chest and having that Eagle on my shoulder gave me confidence all through my later life.
If I could I would do it again.So would you!

Freedom Is Not Free

I watched the flag pass by one day.
It fluttered in the breeze.
A young Marine saluted it,
and then he stood at ease.
I looked at him in uniform
So young, so tall, so proud,
He'd stand out in any crowd.
I thought how many men like him
Had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign soil?
How many mothers' tears?
How many pilots' planes shot down?
How many died at sea?
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?
No, freedom isn't free.
I heard the sound of TAPS one night,
When everything was still
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill.
I wondered just how many times
That TAPS had meant "Amen,"
When a flag had draped a coffin
Of a brother or a friend.
I thought of all the children,
Of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and husbands
With interrupted lives.
I thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea
Of unmarked graves in Arlington.
No, freedom isn't free.

I have had three people phone me this morning to wish me a Happy Vets Day....... Yes I was very surprised..
I read everything ( almost) you guys write and am always wondereing **Why** Why must we have wars? Of course the answer is logical -or illogical depends on how yu feel.. Sheesh enough of that from me..

My nephew asked the question earlier today"whats the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day'? I replied that 1 is to honor those that had paid the ultimate sacrifice and the other is to honor all veterans.

LOL Richard yu dont need to make phone calls , seems to me like the neighbours / friends keep yu busy with some gabbing.. Not so me tho..

Actually they like to drop in or we run in to each other at the store or the VFW. Like I said I make about three calls a week but I get some calling me also. Im just not a big phone person.
