If the pedal went to the floor, and you are certain there is no fluid leak and or loss, that pretty much leaves the master cylinder as the culprit.
However, in rare circumstances, I have run into ABS units doing the very same things. Electrically passing the tests, and never setting the ABS light on. But mechanically stuck, and bypassing the fluid back into the master cylinder.
This is a job best left to a good repair shop, because with either part, there will need to be what is called an ABS system bleed procedure done. With a good scan tool.

yeah sounds like either popped the master cylinder seals or the caliper pistons to me but I'm not very familiar with the ABS system so could be there too. When pads and discs are worn to death you can pop caliper pistons but if they haven't been grinding and are fairly good condition then I'd look at the master cylinder.
I get an occasional spongey pedal but I know my rear discs and pads need changing.

ah it was the lines, were they leaking up back in the undercarriage where you couldn't see it easily I guess?
it is a closed system except for the abs, so it had to let go somewhere.
ABS is tricky though, it was a good call to look there for a loss in pressure...but not that much I should think. Not all the way to the floor without a leak being obvious in the engine bay.

actually the line was blown near the back of the drivers door. don't know too much about it, just know the pedal went to the floor, and every time I pushed it, it went to floor,

9 out of 10 it's on the left side, above the fuel tank.

That area is where all the brake lines come together into the ABS block. It is an ugly repair to do. We just did one last year on the same year truck as yours.
We had to take out all the body bolts on the drivers side of the truck, and raise the body off the frame between 4-6 inches to access the brake lines. Marked every one, took multiple pictures, so that we didn't cross any lines putting it all back.
Can't remember if we also dropped out the fuel tank, but that does sound familiar. Of course, after going through that ordeal, we replaced the standard brake lines with stainless steel ones.
This repair isn't going to be cheap.

How true. Too bad they put the ABS unit under the driver's door, what a mess removing rotted lines there. I'm sorry for your loss of $700.

Sounds about right for your area. It would probably be more here in the Chicago zone. Got to love that road salt and calcium chloride every winter, eh?
That stuff took out my p/s lines 2 years ago, and the a/c lines in my father's truck this year.
One has to be very careful in making these repairs. You just touch something else close by in the general vicinity, and it might also let loose at the same time.
I guess this is another way for them to get us out of the service department, and into the showroom instead.

I thought you said there were no leaks anywhere ? How could you blow multiple lines and not spill ?

Copper Nickel, so much nicer to work with than stainless, and only 12 cents more.
