I spent most of my life working to support a big family and because of that I had to live in cities and larger towns.
Now that I have that behind me I'm buying 5 acres in the mountains and going to build an 800 sq.ft. cabin in the woods.
Just enough room to live as simple a life as I can.
Does anyone else have that kind of plans?
What would be your dreams?

Yeah I found a guy to cut the timber I need to make room for the house and driveway he keeps half and I get the other half. then the well gets drilled and and the bulldozer comes in and clears the pad for the house & a garden area.
Then septic system goes in.
Kind of like the military hurry up and wait.

Well yeah but if you want to shoot them at least you can without the cops coming around.
They frown on that in the cities.

Someone asked me once "when is the last time I went to the shooting range". I said I've never been in my life. I can shoot from my yard.

I have actually been looking at property all day today. I was considering taking an international vacation but I decided that property might be a better choice in the long run. After that it will deciding how to builad the home I want and what materials to use. The only thing I know for sure is I want a home that is Eco friendly and off the grid completely. What state are you buying your property in?

I'd like to have a small cabin when I retire.... some place in the Pacific Northwest close to Puget Sound or the Pacific Ocean such as on Whidbey Island (Washington) or on the Oregon Coast.

I have been looking at 20 acres lots in Montana for anywhere between 20 and 30 thousand. Thinking that's where my purchase is going to be.

Yeah they dip a ways down into the negatives, but I long for that! I can't stand the 80° winter weather here.

Florida sucked like that for me. At least in Arkansas there's 4 seasons. Here in Minnesota we have four degrees of winter.

Go the other way myself, got toy storage with plenty of power for my freezers where I was born in a now hell hole called Orlando, and a small motor home here and in Alaska + two cabins-just play and enjoy life on both ends of the continent.

Got my piece of land cleared, started on the fence and will wait untill spring to drill a water well. I'm trying to build it without any mortgage. I know it will take a while but it will be a peace of mind.

I love living in the sticks
