My mother always made candied apples stuffed with a breakfast sausage and pancakes on the side every Christmas morning. Oh! They were so good. I loved waking up to start my day with that stimulating my taste buds.
My ex hated my cooking and there were too many fights on the holidays. I wound up never making candied apples.
Last Christmas I was separated and made candied apples for my daughter and her boyfriend. I am discovering that it is fun to bring in old traditions and start some new ones.
What kind of Christmas/holiday traditions do you have?

Sad thing about my Christmas is all the traditions stopped. I go visit my mom for Christmas there is no tree, no special dinner...nothing. OK mom u don't have to go all out, but no Christmas dinner? And my family is spread out now. We haven't had all of us together for Christmas in about 20 yrs.
There are 5 of us.
I guess i am a bit bitter and angry when it comes to the holiday season.
I spend Christmas with friends...its just not the same.

My marriage was not pretty, and we did not celebrate holidays or bithdays for some time. When we separated, my daughter asked that we start celebrating and make new traditions and bring in some old ones as well. The first year was awkward, but I did it for her. Even this year I made runny fudge...we are eating it one fingerfull at a time. I am not the best at this, but I anticipate next year will be even better. I am so thankful my daughter nudged me into building our own traditions. Funny what our kids can teach us.
