Today not much.
But yesterday I cut, split (mad-ax) stacked cord+ of fire wood. Does that count.
Getting ready to start my running season again.
Or is it triathlons this year.
I'm still enjoying some couch time. Can't worry about it.

New doc today, hope to get my right arm right before it shrivels any more, then my usual workout plus 400 crunches. It is horrible to look in the mirror and see such a difference. I just really noticed it today for the first time, it is close to two months since my accident.

Had many accidents in my life but only my horses breaking bones have ever set me back like this. Going back for MRI, as it seems to be rotator cup damage Only certain ways it hurts but can not do weights at all with it. My salmon and halibut exercise may be in trouble this summer

Yesterday I did ten rounds of : 15 flights of stairs (brisk walk every other step) and 10 push-ups when I reached the top. After 150 flights of stairs and 100 push-ups, I was tired! Slept like a log last night.
Today I'm going to do a Prowler sled workout. Thing is god awful! But it burns serious calories and is amazing for conditioning.

Hey there fellow Dher's
Angel from NYC.
Looking for some insight, I had a Slight Herniated disc last summer with sever muscle spams,.....
Was out of work, and exercise for that period of time with the exception of swimming.
Can anyone recommend, an exercise to get rid of some mid section accumulation, that wont lead to further back injury??
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Im just hesitant to do as much as I was doing prier to the injury, and i'm frustrated, because I miss a good workout.
Thank you.

If by mid-section accumulation you mean mid-section fat, you'll have to both exercise and diet for it to get smaller. Your mid-section gets smaller when your bodyweight goes down. And for that to happen, it's more about exercising your major muscle groups(pushing muscles, pulling muscles and lower body) than it is exercising your abs. It sounds like you have to avoid exercises that put downward compression on your back. So if your back can take it, chest presses, back rows, and leg presses should be a part of your program, along with whatever smaller exercises you wish to include. And eating less calories. Others here might be able to suggest other big exercises. Good luck.

I did some cycling earlier in the week on my mountain bike. It needs the front changer adjusting. I was getting chain rub in certain gear ratios. I hate that. The car failed to start at work, so I employed the bike as a means of transporting the battery home 4.6 miles (in a rucksack) for a recharge. I used to cycle an average of 250 miles per week on a road bike for several years up until 2007, so this modest reacquaintance with relatively gentle cycling was interesting. My seat area and legs were a bit stiff the next day.

Hey R, what do you do your inverted row pull-ups on?
If I had access to a TRX, I'd use that. But I don't feel like paying over $200 for one and I'm no longer training clients in a gym (freelance). So now I do workouts at a park that has jungle gym equipment. I like using the parallel hand walking dip bars for inverted rows. Works well.

Oh ok. Do you know of simple in-home ways to do them? Sounds like a good pulling calisthenics-type movement(that isn't as hard as pull-ups) to include with push-ups(or knee push-ups) and squats or jump squats for a balanced, at-home, minimalist type workout for those who might only want to or be able to do such a workout.
How come you're no longer freelance training? No time?

No what I meant was that I am just doing freelance personal training now. No longer working in a gym. Knee tuck push-ups are great. Especially on a BOSU ball. If I want to torture myself, I'll do 30 rep squat jump sets. It's killer just to get to 20 straight, and the last ten are BRUTAL. Then following that up with plyometric clapping push-ups is even "better" Haha

Still beset yesterday by mild car strife and bereft of four wheeled transport to work, I set out to tackle the 4.6 mile journey on foot. It was quite enjoyable and took about 63 minutes. I walked two miles during the course of workular duties, and then walked homeward to a local garage where my shining steed was receiving remedial attention in the form of a new starter motor. By this time I'd covered around 10 miles on foot and the ol' legs were starting to ache as if they'd been beaten with cricket bats (loss of condition due to injury layoff). It was character building though I suppose..

Yep full squat rack. So clients can do squats, pull-ups, and overhead press. As well as using DB's for lunges, and push-ups from the floor. I also have stairs right outside my door which works well to keep the HR up between sets.
However, if I'm training a client 3x a week, I usually try to do two of those sessions outdoors or in the workout room at my apartment complex. I can hook up battle ropes in there, have people do hill sprints on the treadmill, and other calisthenics and plyometric exercises. I'm a huge fan of using both body weight training and free weight training to be well rounded.

Yep it's a good set up. Plus one benefit to having people train in my apartment is that I can write off a percentage of my rent every month as a business expense. Definitely helps come tax season.
The only thing I don;t have is an adjustable roll away bench. That would come in handy for bench press. However, I have people do weighted push-ups instead which I find to be a more functional exercise because of the core stability involved.

The staircase that leads up to my apartment is really long.
So I went up and down it ten times leaving a stair in between each stride on the way up to mirror a lunge. Then I did 5 pull-ups immediately after. Did this ten rounds for a total of 100 flights of staiirs and 50 pull-ups. But it's more like 150-175 regular flights of stairs because of how long the damn thing is..LOL
Took 45 minutes total.

What speed do you run Dixie in minutes per mile? Just interested. I think covering ground on foot at any speed is good. I did a bit of running last year interspersed with the walking (before injury struck) and was doing around 8 minute miling.
Just checking my diary I did a two mile out and back course in bare feet on a smooth tarmac road on 28th August 2014 in 08:02, 07:27, which averages out at 07:45 per mile. Not as fast as I could run in the 1980's when I was a tad younger, but interesting, nonetheless for the shoeless aspect.
