Who is your pick to win the Master's this Year? Tiger is slated to play, but he only has even odds to make the cut, has not been playing well lately, and has not won a Major since 2008. Who is your favorite pick to win the Green Jacket this year? Rory? Phil? Bubba? Ricky? Sergio? Lee? Ian?

My pick to win a major has always been some player who has never before won a major. Hmmm... who is currently regarded as the best player who has yet to win a major?

Dave, I don't bet golf but I have always liked Phil as my favorite player.
Phil is a good choice to win this year. My other favorite players in the field are Bubba Watson and Ernie Els. Phil lives near me, but the hearsay is he is quietly moving to Florida.
Opinions on who is the best player never to win a major vary depending on who you speak to. The 2 best players never to win a major (in my opinion) are Sergio Garcia and Lee Westwood.

Will this year's Masters be won by an unknown player or a known veteran?
The first Major of the year for the Women, The ANA Inspiration (formerly the Nabisco Dinah Shore), was played this past week at Mission Hills. I attended the Tournament on Saturday with my youngest daughter, who is a golfer. The final round was very dramatic. Leading the beginning of the final round was Sei Young Kim (ahead by three strokes), a rookie player who fell apart her last 9 holes and ended up tied for 4th place. Two veterans tied at the end of the fourth round and played three sudden death holes. Stacy Lewis, already a 7 year veteran 11 career victories, was beat by a Brittany Lincicome, a 10 year LPGA veteran who won by not going for the par 5 in two, which gave her her first previous ANA Inspiration win. It was an exciting final round, especially the back 9 holes. During the Masters, don't they say the tournament begins on the 10th hole on Sunday?

@ Dave, Since you follow golf more than anyone else on this forum maybe you can answer this question: I read an article today that said Bubba is the most disliked golfer among all of his peers. What is that all about?
Just in case you are interested here are the currents odds for the top 10 to win the Masters:
Jordan Spieth 8 to 1
Rory Mcllory 8 to 1
Bubba Watson 10 to 1
Dustin Johnson 12 to 1
Jason Day 12 to 1
Jimmy Walker 18 to 1
Adam Scott 20 to 1
Henrik Stenson 20 to 1
Phil Mickelson 20 to 1
Tiger Woods 20 to 1

Adam Scott 20 to 1
Henrik Stenson 20 to 1
Phil Mickelson 20 to 1
Tiger Woods 20 to 1
Two notes on the players above. Rory is going for the Career Grand Slam this Masters because he has won all the majors except the Masters, so his is someone to watch. Jason Day is great player who I would put in the top 5 to win the Masters this year.
Most golf fans I know like Bubba. I imitated his driving swing when he won the Masters a few years ago, and it dramatically improved my drives. His swing was like a baseball batter with his body and outside foot moving away from the direction of the ball flight as he completes his swing. He has since changed his swing to be more conventional. The first Masters he won he was incredible. He slammed drive of 320 and 340 yards over many hazards and landed in the center of fairways having what I call a "g-string width." I read the article about the ESPN survey today and it was a surprise to me. The survey asked which player would you least help in a fight in a parking lot. I'm sure some would think he did not need help since he is very tall and has big shoulders and hands and would not need much help in a fight. He is more likely to be joking around in the parking lot. He has had arguments with his caddy in the past.

Is Tiger's Game Back? Can you eliminate the chipping yips quickly? See part of an article on Yahoo sports today....
Hank Haney, Tiger's former coach, said: "When you have the yips, you have issues. This isn't going away. This isn't just a turn of the switch."
Phil Mickelson doesn't agree. Adding to the sense of optimism around Tiger at Augusta this week, Phil said on Tuesday that a player's short game was actually the easiest thing to fix and that Tiger would be fine.
"He hit a few good chips, he hit them close, all of a sudden your confidence is back," Mickelson said. "It's just not that hard of a thing to get right."
Here's his full explanation, which should only fuel the "Tiger is back" hype:
But I do believe that the easiest fix is short game. I think that's the easiest thing to fix, and so his short game has always been astoundingly good. He's won numerous tournaments because of his short game. I just don't think it's a hard thing to get back. He hit a few good chips, he hit them close, all of a sudden your confidence is back. It's just not that hard of a thing to get right. Whereas when your golf swing goes south and the ball is flying everywhere, that could take a little while.
He seems to be striking the ball very well. He played in front of me today, and I saw him hit some shots and it looked impressive. His speed is up, the ball is flying long and straight, and it looks like he's swinging free without any type of manipulation. It looks really good.
Bullish stuff from Lefty!

Jordan Spieth was eight under par on Thursday, finishing three strokes above anyone else. Raymond Floyd said today on the golf channel that he is a rare individual at 21 who had both the physical and mental age above their actual age....like Rory and Tiger did at age 21. Typically the Masters gets harder each day with harder pin placements and harder greens. The big questions for today are who will make the cut and how high will it be. There are lots of players who will start today at 4 and 5 under par. Rory and Tiger must score well or risk missing the cut. Additionally there are thunderstorms predicted for 4 o5 5 PM. This may delay the cut for some players to Saturday, and favor players starting later with rain softening up the greens. Agusta is a little piece of heaven on earth, but can break your heart and spirit if you are not at your mental and physical best.
Congrats to Tom Watson, who at age 65 scored a -1 on Thursday, while Tiger was even and Rory was -1. Old guys rule?

Today is moving day at the Masters. There should be some dramatic moves in the leaderboard and the course should play harder than Thursday and Friday. This means faster greens and tougher pin placements, chipping and pitching and putting (short game) become more important. Phil moved up Friday's Leaderboard with a flurry of birdies on the last 9 holes and he is known for his short game. The Augusta National members are known for wanting a tough test of golf, and will the members play catch up for the weekday course conditions? Tiger appears to have his short game under control, but cracks (mental and physical) in his game (as well as the other players) will appear and widen. Will Jordan be able to adjust his game and will his lead widen or narrow?

10: Do you know that this was Phil's 10th second finish. Phil really did a great push the last two rounds, and would have been right there if Spieth had a major collapse. Justin Rose also rose to the challenge of a Thursday lead from Spieth that turned out to be unbeatable.
Everyone had been looking for the next Jack, then the next Tiger. Will Spieth be then next Golf Super Hero? Spieth said his idol is Arnold Palmer, who was also a gentleman and a great person. I have met many pro golf players over the years as a spectator, and I was always most impressed by Arnie and Jack as good people that felt they owed golf and it's fans a lot, and gave what they could back to the fans. A few good/great players had an entitled attitude, and it was obvious they were only there for the taking. I won't name them. Many think Spieth has the qualities that the industry has been looking for. Golf's attendance has been going down 5% each of the last two years, and many courses have been closing.
Who are your golf Superheros?

big giant kudos to young mr spieth, and his caddy.
heres to hoping he can continue to be consistent. kind of a breath of fresh air for golf. it was great when rory came along and started winning, pumping some excitement into the game. but with every generation it takes more than just one or two. if ricky and patrick can continue to improve then your looking at possibly four tops in the world. with these 4 golf may just have exactly what it needs for a bright future. thoughts?

heres to hoping he can continue to be consistent. kind of a breath of fresh air for golf. it was great when rory came along and started winning, pumping some excitement into the game. but with every generation it takes more than just one or two. if ricky and patrick can continue to improve then your looking at possibly four tops in the world. with these 4 golf may just have exactly what it needs for a bright future. thoughts?
Tater:
I agree.

The same thing is happening to me. DateHookup.dating need to address this issue. I am hoping they are not receiving advertising income from this and it will never go away? If it is they are shooting a double bogie on sponsoring this type of advertising.

It appears there's a new sheriff in town in Dallas named Spieth and Tony Romo is now only a deputy after losing a lot of serious money on various golf courses in the Dallas area to Spieth before Spieth turned pro. When Spieth was asked how much he has won from Romo his answer was "I don't know, I can't count that high". At last report Romo and Spieth are still buddies however.
