ok DH..it's been a loooonnnggg horrible summer, and quite frankly I've needed a break, but I'm back! (for now)
There was a committee meeting in Ill today regarding the future of football in Los Angeles. While no vote was set, it gave the teams mentioned an opportunity to share stadium plans with owners. It also gave the cities of Oakland, San Diego and St Louis an opportunity to do the same. While St Louis, and SD presented stadium plans to the committee, Oakland did not. I have no clue what this means exactly, other than we can assume that Oakland really isn't committed to keeping the Raiders in Northern California.
I was curious what your thoughts on football in Los Angeles......clearly I'm sure you can guess my decision.

I vote for the Rams cause that would mean a guaranteed yearly 49ers trip to LA since they're in the same division

In my opinion, the Rams NEVER should have left L.A. But the problem is not the team, the problem is the fans of L.A. In almost every sport, they come late, they leave early, and just don't seem to care about their team.
San Diego leaving S. D. just seems wrong. They have been a part of the San Diego area for over 50 years. Their fans are supportive, they have the coolest uniforms and a pretty good history of competitive football. Yes, they started their history in L.A., but who even remembers that?
The Raiders in any location other than Oakland? Didn't Al try that before? It didn't seem right then, it doesn't seem right now. The Raiders, and their fans, have always seemed the antithesis of the typical Los Angeles fan. The Raider fans are awesome. They are rabid fans and Oakland is always one of the most colorful places to play. Ken Stabler and John Matusak as a part of the Los Angeles Raiders Hall of Fame? Please. Someone please hook little Al up to some 220 till he gets back in his right mind.

Time my friend, you are partly right about fans in LA. We do arrive late and leave early (well THEY do, I don't!). But fans here only care when teams are winning. With so much to do with our disposable income here, if a team isn't winning, people spend it doing something else. Pretty sad actually. Now I don't mean ALL fans, there are the rare fans (like me) who will still show up and show support win or lose. (don't forget I'm also a Kings/Clippers fan).
The Chargers spent their first years in LA, but you are correct, hardly anyone remembers that! The Rams former owner (she was bat-shit crazy) isn't around any more, so yes I agree, they never should have left.
Since the Raiders and Chargers are both in the AFC West, how would the NFL handle that? Realign the divisions and/or conferences again? The Raiders belong in the AFC. Period. I think Mark (Davis) would fight to stay in the AFC. The city of Oakland doesn't seem interested in keeping them, the A's, who are the primary tenant in the O.co doesn't share the vision of two stadiums on the site. We sure the hell both need our own stadiums. Hopefully when I go up next week, I'll have more answers than questions.
Jose, I travel to the bay area all the time for games, Santa Clara isn't all that far.....

Fuhgeddabouit now take away a second team from St Louis...that's unfair to those fans for giving support over 20 yrs...
Look both NY metro teams play in NJ and kept their team names..as NY jets and Giants as well both teams share a stadium..
Oakland did not support a new stadium for As and shoulda for raiders or have made a stadium for both or at least have made a stadium for raiders and 49ers since they're separated by a bridge...metro NYC is separated by hudson river and the lincoln and holland tunnels and GWB and tappenzee bridges. Their fans come from NY, NJ and long island and Ct...
When there was no AFL giants fans came from all of new England states until pats and bills came into existence. ..
It's hard to merge 49ers and raiders into the same park or maybe it's not since it's a football stadium..
Raiders and chargers and 49ers deserve the best for its fans and politicians should respect that..California is a wide state and if you take east coast several teams from philly down to carolina have their own stadiums for football only, then raiders should have their own place to call home too...imo it's about taxes and non football fans that kill anything..

Hi SoCal Time brings up a good point about L.A fans no matter what the sport You've got to have a winner, and You've got to have a certain amount of star power in the lineup otherwise fans lose interest there's just too much else to do out there.

Once upon a time I had the privilege of watching Kofax vs. Gibson in Dodger Stadium in a classic pitching duel. Many Dodger fans didn't show up until the 3rd inning. In the 7th inning both pitchers had no hitters going. In the top of the 8th inning Dodger fans started leaving the stadium by the thousands. Both pitchers lost their no hitters in the 8th inning but they both pitched complete games with the Dodgers winning that game 1-0.
Maybe, as some of you have said, Los Angeles has a problem supporting their sports teams from start to finish like a classic game I witnessed from start to finish. Or maybe, with Los Angeles spread out for hundreds of miles in all directions, and with all the freeway traffic, their sports fans arrive late and leave early at games because they have long distances to drive, I don't know. I'm just glad I don't live in that area!

I've always supported Realignment in both conferences; Dallas playing in the East is Insane, Carolina should be in the East and Possibly Dallas or St. Louis if the Rams stay put in the West. As for the AFC; the ravens should be in the East, Miami in the South and Indy in the North. But the best example of L.A. Sports is when fans left during the World Series vs. Oakland and Kirk Gibson blasts a Home Run being the Hero and the Dodgers winning the Title. A take it or leave it attitude has settled in on L.A., just wondering if they're still stinging from not only the Giants but the Angels winning Titles also??

Hello socal, you're back...
When the 49ers were building the stadium in Santa Clara, Al was given the opportunity to "go in" on the deal, but much like the O.co, the Raiders would have been secondary tenants. He turned it down. The deal for Carson, at least, would have the appearance of both teams.
The stadium at Santa Clara is for sure a football stadium, so I'm not sure what you mean.
The Raiders (since moving back to Oakland) have always been the second tenant for O.co, so the Raiders building the A's a stadium doesn't make sense. Yes we need our own home.

MetLife is for football only as is 49ers park and if they had shared they your raiders would not play each other yearly plus diff conferences...that's what i meant but maybe in near future be that other tenant...like jets were in old giants stadium now but are co tenants...but of course there is pride and history as part of equation..
If you have a team it has to be supported with up to date amenities like giants and jets share esp have a training facility close by is important too

Agreed! The Raiders current training facility (outside of camp at Napa) is part of the HQ facility. The stadium deal in Carson (Raiders/Chargers) will have 3 locker rooms, one for each team and the third for the visiting team. I thought that was a pretty good idea. I like that the stadium will be neutral colors, with various items being able to "change colors" for whoever is the home team that week.
We'll see.

I disagree. There will be football here in LA, the only thing that hasn't been decided is which 2 teams. From the rumors I've heard, it'll most likely be the Raiders/Chargers. I think the actual vote is slated for between October- December, we'll have an answer for sure by the SB

If they do get a team I think it should be the Rams. I am old school I would hate to see the Chargers leave SD and I think the Raiders are perfect for Oakland... At the end of the day tho I do not think LA should get a team if there is a more deserving city that would support the team because they had 2 teams already and did not seem to support them.

There is football in LA......UCLA and USC bring you some of the best football in the USA. The players, coaches and "owners" actually have loyalty to their team and their team's location. They are not spoiled millionaires playing for spoiled Billionaires, who try to hold a city's sports team hostage for a huge ransom. I had season tickets to the Raiders for the first two years they left Oakland and went back to LA. They totally mismanaged their season tickets, and had no loyalty or integrity with their LA fans. They were truly Raiders and Pirates when I delt with them as a season ticket holder. I would only accept an expansion team in LA, if it were up to me. I am not sure that LA may not be good city for a NFL Football team. Look at the history of NFL teams in LA and OC, and don't repeat past mistakes. Aren't most folks in LA soccer and baseball fans?

LA will have a team because their media market is just too big not to be a part of the NFL again. We don't know which team it will be yet but stand by for news as Paul Harvey use to say.

All 3 have been interested all along Silly, but only 2 will be accepted.
I have a feeling the Rams will be one of them because their owner bought land last yr, has the resources to build a stadium and is willing to rent/share the stadium. IMO who the 2nd team is remains to be seen.

How did the NFL leave the Raiders homeless? They don't have a lease in place to play in O.co this year.

THAT will never happen......for more reasons than I can share here. Mark has made it pretty clear he doesn't want to be a second tenant (like we are in Oakland)....
How did the NFL leave the Raiders homeless? They don't have a lease in place to play in O.co this year.
Mark?? Call Jose, josita...lol...socal Jose has been quiet since week 3 of the season and has been trolling...right josita..lol

St. Louis always has been, and always will be, a baseball town!
The many Cardinals fans I know who live in the St. Louis area never had any interest in the Rams while they played in St. Louis, even during their championship years.

Yeah that was kind of dirty of the league. What did the league expect, for the Raiders to renew their lease and still be interested in moving to LA?

The owner of the A's doesn't want to share...it's more complicated than I care to go into, and some of it is information I can't share...Davis' first choice is to stay in Oakland, but the City of Oakland and the County of Alameda can't even agree on what color to paint a double yellow lines...so yeah, it's gonna be interesting. Things might get crazy in the next few weeks.

I have heard on MLB network the O.co stadium has a serious issue. The sewage system there
tends to have issues during game days. Sounds like what happened at Wrigley field
during last opening day. yuck!
