The Harris PollĀ® of 2,250 adults surveyed online between November 13 and 18, 2013 by Harris Interactive.

"The survey finds that 42% of Americans believe in ghosts, 36% each believe in creationism and UFOs, 29% believe in astrology, 26% believe in witches and 24% believe in reincarnation - (that they were once another person)"

I lived in a haunted house. Chairs would spin around, shadows would move, we would hear voices. One time a bunch of friends and I were listening to a CD and it started skipping. Our names were coming out of the stereo, Julie Julie Julie, Tony Tony Tony, Chris Chris Chris. Seriously, we attempted to stop the CD and it wouldn't stop. We disconnected the CD player, turned off the stereo, we finally pulled the plug on the power to get it to stop. Freaked us all completely out!
Oh, and I've seen at least 2 UFO'S.

I do paranormal investigation, so I've had my fair share of experiences and have interesting audio and video samples of different things. It's not anywhere near what you see on TV. Most of the time it's quiet and seems like nothing is going on, or you don't really get an idea of what WAS going on until later when you find things on your recorder you never heard or saw. If you do a 6-hour investigation, which is about average, and you run 4 video cameras and 2 audio recorders yet besides you now have 30 hours of time you get to sit down and go through all that stuff to see if you found anything - the boredom factor is WAY higher than they ever let you believe on TV. I have me some of those folks and they are friends. Typically when Ghost Hunters does an investigation they take over a site for a whole week. The stuff you see in the maybe 25 - 30 minutes of actual program you see (not counting flashbacks of what you just saw before the commercials so it makes the show seem longer) is everything they were able to get in a whole week, and sometimes they actually get nothing.

When you do get something, or you are able to find out what is happening in someone's home that has them so scared they want to leave it is a very rewarding feeling. There are very real risks involved that have nothing to do with "ghosts". You have to know how to protect yourself - paranormal investigators have gotten sick and died from kicking up mold spores or being exposed to dry bat poop dust in attics, basements or whatever, there can be electrical hazards, uncovered openings in floors, changes in floor elevation that make you fall, sharp objects you don't see, etc.

Anyway that's a quick overview of what the actual reality is behind the stuff you see on TV!

Wow, that's interesting.

I stayed in a motel room for a couple of months that had a connecting room door to another room and when no one was staying in that other room something was defiantly banging around on the other side. When someone would stay in that room it would be quiet. One night I was on my way to run out the door it got so obnoxious.
I just know it had to be an unrested spirit. That motel has since been demolished. I'm hoping the persons spirit is free now.

The motel my parents stayed at, someone died and they just let him lay on the bed, curtains and door open.

I prefer newer motel/hotels now.
