For someone who is a political intern, is disturbs me that you don't know these laws exist.

A person involving themselves in politics should have knowledge of most, if not all laws, seeing how they represent the people regarding the laws that are written or repealed.

A private citizen, with no affiliation to the career of politics, should not possess a greater understanding of the law.

Quote from enigmaathand:
Ms Holland, you are full of it. I have yet, to see half of what you say be true, and I watch my friends go through divorce all the time.

Let's see, in the last 10 years, I have witnessed:

My friend, Dave, was thrown out of HIS own house by the Warren City Police Department, when he and his wife separated. Fortunately, he went in front of the now former MALE family court judge amd was able to keep his house, in the divorce.

I have two female friends, that are both involved with other men, as we speak. They are both legally married, still. So, they are cheating, essentially. They have both cheated on their respective husbands with me, as one-night stands as well. Bith of them are purposely waiting until after the ten year marl, of their marriages, to file. This way, they don't just get alimony, but they can also take 50% of the ex husbands retirement, pensions, Social Security, 401k, etc......

What I thought about doing, since Ohio repealed their "Adultery" laws, is showing up to each divorce hearing, to testify against them. Wouldn't matter. The family judge, in my area is a MAN-HATING, FEMINISM-SUPPORTING WOMAN, so we all know what will happen to these two men.....

That is because you are not in the courtroom with them right? You are basing your info on assumptions without knowing the particulars.

What most people don't understand is that rarely do judges decide who gets what. It is the two parties through mediators and lawyers that work out the agreement. The papers are drawn up, signed, judges reivews and signs.

Now why do you suppose that happens? Because it is way to expensive for the parties to be able to afford lawyer fees in a long drawn out fight.

Just because a judge signs off does not mean he decided on who gets what. But yet people are screaming about the judge being unfair.

You should really check your laws, before you open you cum dumpster.

Under Ohio Law, the JUDGE DOES determine the division of assets during the divorce. Even though my house was paid off, before I'll ever be married, a WOMAN can still be awarded MY house that SHE has invested NOTHING into. She can be awarded MY car, that she has invested NOTHING into.

While the divorce laws CAN vary between the States, here in Ohio, if you are MALE and get divorced you had better be prepared to lose ALL your assets and your money in alimony/child support.

I wouldn't marry in this state WITH a prenuptial agreement, that is how Feminist and Sexist this state is, towards men.

I dont have time for pettiness. If we cant come to a mature adult decision on who gets what I let her keep it all. Easier than constantly bickering and fighting over shit thats only going to be a constant reminder of yet another failed relationship anyway.

Quote from ms_holland:
I have seen not just on here but out in society, folks fuss about the way they have been taken advantage of financially when it comes to divorce.

What are your thoughts when you hear people complain about this?

My thoughts are

1. If a person is concerned about his/her finances, then marriage MAY not be the best arrangement for such a person.

2. It depends on WHY the marriage failed. I feel that if someone has committed adultery, then that person should be disqualified from any financial settlement during a divorce. That's like rewarding a child for bad behavior.

3. A simply leave as you came prenup should have beenbe considered, though just a few years ago, a judge (I forget where) set new legal precedent by dishonoring a prenup that a couple had in place and awarding the wife millions of dollars. So prenups aren't necessarily as secure as one may think.
