I think most everyone would marry someone who was extremely wealthy, so let's take financial gain off the table...
So except for money, can you see yourself marrying someone for any reason(s) OTHER THAN love? And it DOES happen. Besides cultures that have arranged marriages, there are those marriages from felt obligation, unplanned pregnancy etc.. I even know of one because of a deathbed promise.
So would you, could you enter a loveless marriage... under what conditions if any? Pro's and con's of not loving your spouse (minus the obvious of course)?

Survivability, status, economics, political alliance, sex, money, avoiding loneliness, and cover (to hide ethnicity, homosexuality, etc), are among the reasons many have married. The popular notion that marriage should have something to do with love is quite recent...since the late 19th Century. The notion existed before then, but was not very widespread / popular until then.
Why I marry, or don't, is no one else's business.
I could marry someone I like, but don't love, for companionship, or whatever, but money would not be the reason. Love may grow over time, or not. Whether it did, or not, I would have the companionship, sex, hobby buddy, etc. That could be worthwhile, though not ideal. Something is better than nothing. If it came down to a choice between marrying someone I don't quite love yet, or being alone, I would marry a good friend.

Lets replace love with....In love, because there is a difference.
You can be in a relation and over time learn to love someone....but that could be the same love you have for a dog or cat or brother or friend.
Its love, but not the kind of love most associate marriages and relations too.
So if its not...In love...we are back to square one in a sense.
To answer: First off I wouldn't marry a rich women for her money if I didn't like her...and couldn't fall in love with her.
Next...I've always figured I don't want to marry unless there is real in love from both people, she has her shit together, and we are compatible enough in the key area's.
However since I left my first marriage and the relation since just showed mostly women with too many issues and too much b.s. and lies.
Its possible to re evaluate everything and to have companionship in my older years...I might consider marrying or life partnering with a woman, where all the ingredients are there, except in love....if she had her shit together, was truly honest, had something to bring to the table financially too, and the compatibilities are there.
But I don't know...I just said its possible.

Actually that is not funny. A Chinese brochure on a women's finishing school in Beijing China values a green card at $500,000. I believe I understand where they get that figure. Greencards are given out for US Investment of around $1 million dollars in say a car wash in Detroit. With that you get a green card for yourself and your wife plus one child. Most Chinese only have one child. Problem is, who wants to have a car wash in downtown Detroit?
It's just better to find a US Citizen and marry him. So the course is on how to dress and makeup and of course how to f**k his brains out so he will marry you in short order.

I don't mind sharing what I would, or would not, do for information purposes, but not as a justification of the feeling some have to dictate whether I should marry for this, or that, reason. Some post questions about such things for information, to satisfy curiosity, and I can speak to that for them. Others pose such topics as a way of pushing their ideas upon others...saying that others should only marry for love, date only within their race, vote for Republicans, or whatever.. I don't bend to such BS.
I do as I do, whether others like it, or not. I may explain why I do it, but will not change regarding whether I do it, or not. Most people who allegedly marry for love do not even know what love is. Love is not some giddy feeling of butterflies in your tummy-or wherever-when you see someone. It is not enjoying having sex with them. It IS caring for them enough to sacrifice for them. What are you willing to give up for the sake of having your loved one or making him / her happy, safe, etc? If you can't miss a favorite TV show episode, so that your loved one can watch something he / she wants, you don't love him / her very much. If you would jump in front of your loved one, as a terrorist fires a bullet at him, or her, and so die to protect him / her, then you love him / her quite a damned bit. The fact that more than half of all marriages-and a greater percentage of engagements / etc-end in divorces / other separations suggests that very few people actually do marry for love these days. Some know they are marrying for something other than love, and others do not. Some tell themselves they are in love, when they are not.
