Situation: The Twins have 2 on with 1 out and the batter strikes out, but it takes the pitcher 8 pitches to accomplish this feat. The next batter comes up and hits a 3 run homer on the 1st pitch which causes me to wonder if this big inning would have occurred if that previous Twins batter had not caused that opposing pitcher to work so hard to get him out.

Anytime a hitter can take a pitcher deep into the count it's advantage offense.
With so many pitchers in today's game on a maximum pitch count it's also advantage offense if hitters can foul off a lot of two strike pitches in the early innings of a game.

The Twinkies ought to be better this year if Sano has the big year and our Korean boy figures out how to hit. A lot of the balls that were homers in Korea will be just long outs in the US.

I'm surprised we have anyone on the team that can show that much discipline. Usually they try to hit into the dp.
To the point, the more pitches the pitcher must throw, the better it is for the batting team. There must be some advantage if the pitcher is throwing a lot to 1st though he obviously isn't throwing as hard. There may be an extra advantage if the pitcher throws relief as they aren't used to throwing that many pitches in an outing.

HA Driver! You're Korean boy should get a one way ticket to Rochester or Chattanooga to figure out how to hit in the US! It's amazing that this guy hit 101 HR in his last two seasons in Korea! He's a huge, major bust here, a guaranteed out which isn't good for a DH.
