i used to be pretty anal about reading them but they are usually only words.its merely the intro to the book.its better to open it up and read it.

Arkansasnman, you seem to be addictive, like that morning jolt of caffeine. I get online and the first thing I want to know is, what has he asked us today???

Quote from arkansasnman:
Carpe Diem.......you know it......."Seize the Day" (although I wiki'ed it, and read that the more literal translation is "Harvest the Day").
.......AND......with this philosophy so prevalent throughout the DH community........tell me how this applies to dating.....lol.

I think that Harvest the Day is a better translation for me than Seize the Day. To seize is an aggressive action, it does leave an impression of choosing to serve oneself, rather than to appreciate the life one is living. While to harvest is to bring in the bounty life is giving you this day.

Quote from arkansasnman:

Does that inspire you to get with a man more quickly?
.....or to push a time-table forward?

Nope, if anything it tells me to move more slowly. My life, or the ‘crop’, to continue with the harvest analogy, will with time be fruitful. If I never find that mysterious love that has proven so elusive, my life is still good, even wonderful, and will provide for my needs. This love we all seek is a desire, not a need.

Making the choice to rush into a romance, to seize the intimacy a man offers, before we have taken the time to build a strong foundation, is more likely to cause me heartache than to fulfill the dream.

I think of it more in terms of "mindfulness", being aware of every moment as it is there and enjoying what is there to be enjoyed. Spending all your mental time thinking about the past or wondering about the future doesn't allow you to enjoy your life as it is unfolding. Like Buddha said, life will unfold as it should, don't fight all the time to make it something else. JMHO

I wanna see an original profile.. that would make me contact someone.. but sadly... originality is rare.

Something like "I hate dogs and like to stay in doors.
I'm just like every chick you will ever meet and F**K CARPE DIEM IN IT'S UNLUBED ANUS!!!.. oh.. smokers need not apply.. but I hate kids. Hate 'em. I tried babysitting but got fired after an hour when I gave the screaming brat some brandy to shut it up. Also.. NO FAT DUDES"

Okay....ya gotta help me out.I'm a very linear thinker.

Carpe Diem....life is short.......live like there is no tomorrow.

If that's the case, why would someone be taking their time?

Life is short and time is not be wasted. So, if a woman is looking for a longterm parnter in a monagmous relationship, holding on boinking until there is a real committment is actually living smartly in the short term. That truly is Carpe Diem. I have just had an ephinany.

That's an oxymoron.

Logic is basic here. if a woman wastes her time with jokers that just want to be boinked, she will never meet a longer term goal that she still wants to hit before her life IS over.

No oxymoron whatever.

awwwwwwwww........

I might bring up the validity of the existance of a "long-term" partner if life is short by definition.
