Dean Koontz's Frankenstein Prodigal Son....
Having a hard time getting through it - it's just kinda blah. Not good, not bad...and has a second book to go with it. Maybe by New Year's I'll have read both LOL.

There's a few more that go along with the first one....2 more I think....It wasn't super exciting, but the writin' was good enuff & Koontz didn't fart around with 200 pages a details on every character.

I have most of John Saul's books. I've loved reading him since the 80's. I've read The Devil's Labyrinth and it's really good. My favorite of his though is Nathaniel. Anything rooted in history grabs me harder.
I changed my mind. I'm putting Girl with the Dragon Tattoo aside to read Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol instead. I can't wait!

Right now I'm into D.J.MacHale-Pendragon-Books. Good reads sci fi, fantasy, coming of age. I guess it is more young adult so fits me perfect.
The Road was a great book cant wait for the movie (I think). Another great one is "One Second after" will have to reread that one soon.

just finishing Patricia Cornwell's "Jack the Ripper: Case Closed" (forensic biography) and just started "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" by Stieg Larsson
I also read Patricia Cornwell's book that you mentioned. I bought it because I thought it was a really interesting topic! It took forever for me to read though because I just didn't have the time for it, so I'm going to read it again sometime.
Currently I am reading Helter Skelter. It's the only book ever to really get under my skin but I read it over and over and always come across something new.

American Adulter by Joe Mercurio, about JFK. I have a new appreciation for JFK after reading this book, though
it is about his promiscuity. He had many physical ailments, of which I was unware, but he may have saved us
from nuclear war when our generals wanted to blast Cuba with nuclear missiles. The author is also a physician.

John Fante - Was a Bad Year
Was a Bad Year by John Fante is a story of fathers and sons. Maybe one of the most beautiful dramatic stories and funny, cruel and romantic where cooprotagonisti are: Baseball, a phenomenal arm, the American dream with the myth of youth explosive, hormonal, crazy and bizarre.

If you like M.H. Clark I'd like you to hook up with Laura Benedict's Isabella Moon (her first novel) and her second Calling Mr. Lonely Heart...the latter is on the strange side, but is good. I've read almost all of M.H.C.'s books, my favorite was Loves Music, Loves to Dance. Lately I've been reading Stuart Woods' Orchid series. Love his works. Happy reading to all of the bookworms out there!

I am reading a most fascinating book called "The End of Overeating," by David Kessler, M.D. According to Dr. Kessler, our overeating is by design of the food industry, so that we are deliberately led to eating more. He discusses how the combination of fat, sugar and salt makes us override our natural tendency to stop eating when we are full. (This explains why there is sugar in the batter for purchased fried chicken, and why sugar is in almost all prepared salad dressings, etc.)
The book is extremely good. If you are wondering why you are overweight even though you don't eat a lot... this is the book for you! MS

It is no fun reading them alone.
They should be read out loud and to someone you enjoy being around
Would any of you like me to read you a story?
Dostoyevski is my second choice but it may take a bit longer.

I read Dean Koontz series "Frankenstein" and even though I'm a huge fan of Koontz in general, (have most of his books in my library) I wasn't impressed with it. But, it's worth reading if you are a fan of him. His writing style seems to vary so much lately (last ten years), hard to ever know when you'll stumble upon another "great" one (Like the Odd Thomas series) so gotta read 'em all!

To gentdragn: Don't forget Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch books. (I love Harry.) Nine Dragons is his latest and I haven't read it yet.
And Martin Cruz Smith's detective, Arkady Renko. (One of his books that is not in that series is one of my faves, too, Stallion Gate, a fictional account of Los Alamos.)
If you've read all those other guys, you've probably read these and if you haven't, you'd like them.
I like Jonathan Kellerman's Alex Delaware books, too, but I think I might like Faye's Peter Decker/Rina Lazarus novels even better.

Countrygirl 2610: War and Peace is a wonderful book. You might want to start with Anna Karenina, though, then tackle War and Peace. The thing about the Russian writers is that there are so many, many characters to keep in your head but they're very well worth the read.
