I'm sorry this happened. Be thankful she wasnt home...could have been so much worse. Most things can be replaced. I know it hurts that someone would do such a thing but like it was mentioned you can't blame yourself...if they wanted in they were gonna do it.
It was done on Thanksgiving because they counted on the person being gone...made their job easier. It could have even been an acquaintance or someone who overheard her say she wouldn't be home. Again I'm very sorry this happened.

The best thing you can do now is to just be there for her. Maybe purchase new dead bolts for the place and comfort her. Be the moma, I'm sure you are a great one of those, and if your not a bleeding liberal, buy her a hand gun, be sure to teach her how to use it.

Romie sorry to hear about that my ex wife had the same problem happen to her but she did lock the door and someone broke in and took only her lap top when the police and locksmith showed up they said they got in with a knife when she locked the door she did not let it click and that is the trick to it the knife is there key they just slip it in and work the arm back in.So now she has a dead bolt and new door lock. It will get better.

Thank you everyone for even more kind words, Samantha is doing much better this evening, spent the whole day with her and noticed shes a little scared to be alone, can't say I blame her, I spent a good day at the Police Station also aand family or not, I'm throing the book at my nephew and his friends for what they did, just taking Samanthas secure feeling away in her own home is enough to really piss me off, bad thing always happen to good people and my nephew better hope he learns a lesson from this one, because the next person he robs my just take a gun to his head.
God Bless all of you for looking out for my little girl.
Hugs Romie

Romie,
I have a nephew who has stolen from me several times. It took a couple of events before his mom finally kicked him out.
I recommend pressing any applicable charges, but then that is based on my own experiences.

Romie, I am really sorry this happend to your daughter, but it isn't your fault. Locks only keep our honest people. I have renters insurance for that very thing. Didn't think I would need it until a friend got robbed and I have had it ever since. I hope they find who did it.

romie, I heard this on the news. A lot of people were robbed in that area on Thanksgiving. You are very lucky you and your daughter were not hurt. It is so NOT YOUR FAULT. I am new to this site, but its so easy to see how you all support eachother. Thats why I put myself out there to you guys. He's a kid, don't pay any attention to that asswipe. You take care of yourself and your daughter. My prayer and thoughts are with you. The police will get those SOB's.

I can relate a little bit. When I came home from the hospital from having my daughter I walk in to find I had been robbed, the timing couldn't of been better huh?? well so not only do I have a brand new baby and all alone and have the post partum blues all my shit was gone, well I found one friend to watch my daughter, while me and a baseball bat went out for justice............... well needless to say I recovered most of my things all on my own - without the law - only because people had talked and bragged - well right to there front doors I went. So I really hate thieves - especially lying thieves. it will get better with time.

Hi Romie I am sorry to hear what happened to your daughter, and you it sounds like you handled it very well. Sometimes words do not help. Just give your young lady a big hug And tell her you love her, which I'm sure she knows and everything will be all right. And happy belated birthday
