I'm really surprised by the answers here. Like, shocked. For me, I cooked his favorite stuff (called his mom to get her recipes) and gave backrubs and once went all over town getting him gift certificates to play golf at every golf course when we first moved here, so he could figure out which one he liked best. I don't know, I guess we just got lucky that both of us really liked to do things for each other, just to see the other person smile.

If a woman is not interested in having a relationship with you unless you are providing these things, then they're not into you, they're into your wallet. Once you have progressed into a serious long-term relationship, then the number of gifts or value is limitless and should fall within what you would like to give and what you can afford. But you need to know that the relationship is based on the woman wanting YOU first, not the gifts. All of this goes for men or women and includes all the lovely nicities like the massages, little love notes, flowers, candy etc. And it HAS TO BE BALANCED! Both sides should be WANTING to do these things for each other, just because you want to and you care about each other's happiness. Having said all of that, be sure that you are not buying things for a date in order to buy her (or his) affection or love (even subconsciously). This is when you set yourself up to be used and you end up choosing the wrong person for you. A relationship should be built on love, trust, understanding, communication etc...not gifts or spoiling. But once you are in a solid relationship based on these things there should be no limit to the spoiling you can do for EACH OTHER. So spoil away...just do it at the right time, with the right woman.

I've found that the more I act like I don't care, the more they want me. I don't get it, so I stopped playing the head games. If I want to spoil a guy, I will, and, if he starts to treat me like garbage, I show him the door. Life's to short to worry or put up with that shit. Since I'm usually the one doing the spoiling, I haven't really been with a guy that spoils a woman, so I really don't know what that's like. It's nice to see there are some good guys out there, though. Kudos to all you fine gentlemen.
