sad thing mickey--rude awakenings happen with a snap of the finger--in your case you awaiting till time just before you become 62 is sometimes because we thought everything is great after we retire--it's not as each retirement is different from another--why because i was dealing with senoirs selling their homes to downsize and move to any state more specific to live in retirementville for the better rest of their lives--worst thing for many seniors who worked hard was wanting top $$$ for their homes or assets needing liquidation, instead for just stupid greedy reason some did not take less to sell in that home state or home of choice quicker--worst senerio the stress built up for that extra buck would build up so much and could kill you.... and in my 20 yrs experience i've seen a handful of people not make it there to retirementville--and left spouses behind from the stress levels it creates--in your case get the best advice possible even if it's at an H & R tax center computerized software gives many a great answer as do trusted advisors for such matters ...

PPK;
I wish I had an answer for you but I don't. As we speak, I am in a fight with a county here in Wisconsin, I am in the crosshairs of two insurance companies that are fighting with each other, and paying medical bills for tests that I was required to have...oh screw it. It's very complicated. Lets just say I've aged 10 years in the last 4 months and leave it at that.
By the way, I didn't mean to offend anyone with my earlier posts. I just need to blow off some steam and this looked like a good place to do it.
Thanks
Hodag

Packmom--I was on the same when I was married to my last husband--drawing from my good hubby who passed away from cancer.----I still got the same amount.Of course, I had a lot more money to play with then, but was not worth being married to him who was paranoid and abusive--I'd rather live alone and have what I have now--than be in a miserable marriage.
I guess probably everyone knows what I mean--It takes 2 to make it work--and I was only one--hugsss to allll---Pat.

I have heard the State of Mo is a good place to retire to. ???
Another way to add to your income is to take in a grandchild. You can get ADC if one of the parents are "absent." Or apply to be a child care provider or assistant to an elderly relative through the state where you live. Taxes are not taken out because you are considered self employed, and at a lower earnings rate, taxes may not be a problem.
