I had that happen to me also. My dogs dug some of them out for me. Others I have left because the only thing I know to do for them is hire someone to grind them out. The ones my dogs removed for me were only about a foot to a foot and a half. The others are about three feet. You could try planting a vine around the stumps or bushes to hide them. Good luck.

Find a company that will grind them down to the ground level. Kill the middle of the stumps with poison *ask company that grinds trees* Much easier than to have it yanked out of the yard that might disrupt sewer/water/cable/phone lines.

I have wetted the stump down, poured a bunch of molasses over it and then covered the complete stump with compost. In about 8 months it's about gone.

I like the flower arrangement idea. but if you dig them you need
to get licensed people because they may have wrapped their roots
into the lines coming into your house. like utah said.

Dig down below and around the roots and if there are any big ones cut them below surface level, then pull it with a truck. It may lean over and not come out, now you can dig under it and cut whatever big roots are holding it in.

That looks small; what is the biggest trunk? 6-8" maybe? Start digging, cutting, and then hook up the chain; should only take a couple hours and you will be able to pull it with your economy car or motorcycle.

a aquarter stick of dynamite under medium stumps and exploded will do the trick, for large stumps, use more dynamite, check local laws first lol

Tree stump removal is and always has been a challenge.
If you do not mind the roots then just go to your local rent-all and rent a stump grinder for a day.

If you have an affinity for digging then dig around all the roots and pull it out.
If you have a little ammonium perclorate around just get your local neighborhood pedophile to pour it around the stump. (eliminates two problems at once).
Got a horse and chain? Pull it out.
Chemically, you can drill deep holes with an auger bit 1/3 to a dozen will do then fill the holes with diesel and light it on fire to burn it out.
Finally, you can go to your hardware store and get some ammonium nitrate or sodium nitrate and pour it on the stump tops. (Hint-cut the stump down as far as you can) in a year or so it will rot away.

If you dont want to pay to have them ground down which I have done just to some close to my house in the front yard. The way I'm doing it with some out back is drill big holes in them and fill them with ice cream salt to make them rot much faster.

this was my suggestion to.. it will rot slowly, and look good till it does..

we actually made planters from a tree that was cut down and had heart rot. cut 1 ft sections and placed boards on bottom to hold in soil. also place on top of bricks to ensure that it drained well. gave it too rope handles to make it a bit easier to drag.

and planted it full of stuff..

go to a local farm store or garden shop and get a bottle of stump remover
or can of the same and drill 1/2 inch hole in middle of small stumps say 6 " ones and figure if stump is larger about 6" all over the top of the stump as deep as you can . then pour in the material from the containers and then lay a burlap sack on top and roofing nail it down to keep the top wet. now the speed trick find some moss and collect enough to cover the burlap sack grind it with milk and pour it over the stump so that it drips ovr the edges and slowly colors the sides of the stump. come back and check it in a month and you should have about an inch wall left behind the bark that kick in flat and the in about another month it will be all covered with a nice crop of moss. and you can spend the time you would have digging the thing out watching the foot ball games, and still getting your honey due list done the milk & moss trick I learned seeing MOM nature in the woods getting rid of stumps and covering bare rocks. the milk I use is to make the moss spoors stick to the surface So there go enjoy your honey due list.

Don't get stumped, you'll figure something out. We always chainsawed the stumps down, or turned them in to planters. You want it to be low enough to mow right? Well if you dig around it a bit, you just need enough clearance to get your chainsaw in there!

Down at deercamp we use to take our left over coals from the campfire or bbq pit and place them around the base of the stump and it was burned to ground level by morning. Of course these were dry stumps.

I had one from a pine tree that was about 18 inches across. We drilled holes in the top flat part and poured muratic acid on it. It disolved it in about 3 months. The acid cost about $10 for a gallon and just turned it to mulch. The grass grew over it and problem solved. If you dont know about muratic acid it is used for pools and concrete cleaning. You keep a running water hose with you for safety as it neutralizes it in case of an accident and dont breath the fumes. It can be purchased at pool supplies or janitorial supplies. Good for removing grease on driveway.

You can drill a hole in the center use a large wing bit 1- 1 1/2 should do with an extender so you can get down to the base then from the outside at an angle drill three holes evenly around the stump for air then pour charcole ligher fluid in the holes light it and have fun it will burn from the center out slow pricess depending on the dryness and wood type and age but its permanent and no ferri circles afterwords

Hi,
Drill or cut holes in the stump. Pour liquid bleach in the holes. Keep adding bleach regularly till they have rotted out.
It does take time if you don't have the money. They make something called Stump Rot too. More money than bleach. Be prepared to add soil or mulch to the sink hole later. Even ground down a sink hole will develop years later as the underground roots rot. A total dig out is big work.
Good luck.
