I started with Capoeira.

But now up here with another teacher, since it was a while, he is starting me Tai Chi, twice a week before work.

I know Tai Chi, is actually alot harder and more demanding than it looks, but it will help balance and more things.

Shortly before my 48th birthday I was challenged to participate in my son's Tae Kwon Do class.....and still doing it , hopefully get Red belt and maybe if I really work at it, black tag by the end of the year,

local boxing, wing chun, budo taijutsu, takamatsu ryuha kobudo, some fascinating contrasts. For me fighting arts were always as much intellectual interest and sports, health and self defence.

If takamatsu ryuha is getting around the US really worth checking out for the pragmatic kind of traditionalist, it's a little exclusive but has a great history and puts you right back in the samurai age (not with dress ups but you study particular samurai/budo traditions from japan's past, with a bit of history and some of their famous battlefield techniques...it's almost like a re-enactment group without the costumes uber fun and eye opening)

I think we all practice martial arts even when we are young and don't realize it,
of course now with all types of media involved with it, as soon as you can open your eyes you can see examples, we all learn from example.

I believe it also helps to have a predisposition for combat, what your ancestry is and what your parents and immediate family have done.

Some could probably give an example of someone who never had that type of background,
but the truth is it wasn't revealed of wasn't known or kept private for the sake of caution so their children or the grand children would be exposed to violence or that type of environment or someone that did not want that kind of attention brought to themselves or their families out of fear of retribution and safety of their loved ones.

Mixed martial arts is an extreme sport which can be utilized

in the street, just as boxing or wrestling can be utilized in the street.

Actually, there is nothing new about mixed martial arts.

Jujitsu combined kicks and strikes with grappling before it was renamed mixed martial arts.

The now popular mixed martial allows Judo techniques to the throat, knees, etc.

but does not allow karate techniques to the throat, knees, etc.

Pure martial arts are designed exclusively for military combat.

Makahiya is a military science.

The King's College of War offers a complete curriculum !

Hey seeker17, thanks you for your work as a first responder.

Physical and spiritual knowledge is essential in self defense.
Historically and logically, Theology is the master university science.
A martial art system is only as complete as it's Theology.

A comparison of world religion parallels the history of civilization.
The relationship between religious texts and the development of higher education
is categorical and conclusive.

Paris, Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Yale and Princeton were developed
in the theological context of the textus receptus of the KJV Holy Bibles.

Think about it seeker17.
Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness;
and all these things shall be added unto you.

I stuck with each for at least a full year or until I had to move again as a minor, but I stuck with tang soo do for 7 years before having to take a hiatus due to two major spinal surgeries followed by tai chi & kung fu.
