I am asking another question just because i get curious
Here online, there can be interaction with any number of people
through emails or the message boards,
and all you have to do is email or post a message
It's much harder to interact with that amount of people off line
or in "real life"
so you actually get to know more people online
(at least you do by their comments they make)
I don't think online can be considered dating at all
it's just another way to MEET people
the dating begins once you jump from online to the real world...
until you start meeting face to face
.......i don't think you can call it dating.
Anyone want to jump in this thread and comment?

I think its true that online dating is much easier then regular dating. Only because of the fact that i dont have a lot of free time to venture out and meet new people in person. But i guess that wouldnt be considered online dating if you dont have any intensions of meeting anyone either. So i guess it differs from person to person.
For me its easier to communicate with people via email, chat rooms/forums then it is in person a lot of times!

For me I can get "turned down" just as fast online as in person .. Makes absolutely no difference... :o)

I think sometimes it's easier to talk about things when you're "chatting or emailing" rather than face to face, at least until you get to know them and feel comfortable. I've met a few people that I've chatted with, and it's definately better to chat a while and get to know them before meeting in person... it doesn't feel as if you're going out with a stranger at that point... you should have talked alot and know a lot about that person...
That's very different from regular dating where you're sitting across from a perfect stranger asking questions and trying not to be so nervous that you stumble over your words and sound like an idiot.

If people are honest on their profiles you know enough about them from the profile you have something to start a conversation with. So you have an "inside" track you don't always have when you meet on a regular date.

In the old days in the real world, people grew up together, went to school together, worked together...and usually met that someone in their community. With the fragmentation of today's world, on line becomes the village and tribe. So yes, this method is easier than regular dating. One gets to know others without pressure. We chat back and forth and get to know someone as friends first. And sane folks know the best mate is usually your best friend first! This form reduces pressure and is more relaxed.

I agree with what most people have said. Its easier and if their profile is true, you know more about them and if they are compatiable with you before you contact them. Also one important thing, you know they are availible (at least should be) if they created a profile on a online dating sight. Too many times I've striked up a conversation with someone in public only to find out very shortly that we really don't have anything incommon, and then had to come up with a polite way to get out of the situation.....

Well, I have seen posts from people on here that say they are married and only have a profile and come on here for the forum discussions. I think they should leave and go on a site for married people.

My opinion, I seriously think there is no difference at all. Online, people can be fake, lie, etc. In person, they still can lie and be fake. Either way, anyone can tell you ANYTHING, in person or online, it doesn't matter. Only thing I feel is different online versus in person is people can post a picture that is NOT them whereas; in person, they cannot just run the bathroom and take off a mask!
I just don't understand a online relationship where people date online/get engaged and still have yet to meet in person! Seriously, whether people admit it or not, most are attracted mostly to appearances. So you get engaged, you finally meet a week before the wedding and cannot look at the person without heaving, you just wasted all that time LOL

I must be rare then because I am on here to hopefully meet someone and don't think is worth the risk to say something,put a fake pic or anything else that can be dishonest. Lies ALWAYS catch you in time why would you want to try to explain something to make you seem even worse. I will admit that some of the pics are a couple years old on my profile but I don't think I look any different form one pic to another.
