I am unable to have the big lovely gardens of the past. I have a cast iron pot my grandmother cooked lard in. It has a hole in the bottom. I thought of painting it
black and planting tomatoes in it. I got Big Beef tomatoes. I purchased 4 plants.
Shall I use potting soil or dirt combinations or what do you suggest.

I would say potting soil would do fine. But it would require more watering. If your natural soil is dark then your might try a mixture of that and peat moss. A lot depends on your soil type.

I would say potting soil and you may want to go visit and nursery and see if they have any organic tomato fertilizer to help get things going. Then plant and cage!

Tomato Tone is a very good product! I use it with my heirloom tomato plants. I also use a little Miracle Gro.
