My hardest day is the date of my ex's and my anniversary. For the most part, I'm ok because I enjoy my downtime and I keep pretty busy.
However, that day sort of represents the twelve years of marriage that fell apart when I got into an accident and got sick. I reflect on all the hopes and dreams I had going into that marriage and I feel lonely and sad. I mourn for the family I tried to create with him and for the fact my kid's are being raised in a broken home.
I usually cheer up after a few pieces of Halloween candy though.

In the evening after the girls have gone to bed and the house is all quite. I miss being able to cuddle up with someone. And sometimes when I am laying in bed trying to fall asleep but unable to because the other side of the bed is empty.

My divorce is still on going but I have been apart from her for 3 months now and I get lonely every day. It doesn't help that I work by myself and have a lot of time to think. I know that things are never going to be the way they were and I can say that I could not go back with her after what has happened. I miss being with someone but someone will come along. Its wanting to be with that someone that may be the problem! I don't want to be with anyone just cause I am lonely. I hope everyone with a lonely heart finds that special someone.

Lol...actually she tries to lay on my head or neck, if she can't get that then she hogs my pillow. But if laying on the couch she gets in between my feet so is a good footwarmer at times

Awww. Thank God for pets. I joke all the time that my chihuahua is a better sleep partner than my ex. He has better breath and he doesn't snore.

I believe death and divorce are the same....You go through a period with each to morn that lost love you felt...
You get lonely when your anywhere couples might be... I have not been in a rest. for years because I cannot stand to eat alone...or a movie..
I just lost someone I met on here that I truely cared for and I am great during the day but at night I get so very sad...
I know I have friends and family that love me but whn you love someone and they go away they take a piece of your soul with them
may I suggest if your seperated please don't hurt an innocent person by trying to fix your lonliness if you go back with your ex it hurts this innocent party more then you know

I have to totally agree with you on this one.
OT: I feel the most lonely around the holidays. Especially on the years my son gets to spend it with his dad. It's bad enough I am single and don't have that S/O to share it with. But then when my son goes with his dad. It makes it just that much more depressing. Don't get me wrong. I am glad his dad is apart of his life. Just gets kinda lonely when there is no one to share it with.

The holidays put too much pressure on everyone. Just once I'd like to say, I am not giving any gifts this year, and I don't want any either. Don't want to be a Scrooge but the giftgiving makes everyone broke and it's not worth it. The only ones getting rich are the merchants.

I feel alone the most when I lay down every night in my empty king sized bed. I am a corner sleeper so there is a vast amount of empty space from the middle of the bed to the other side. Holidays and family get-togethers are the worse when everyone else has their significant others. Don't get me wrong. I may feel alone, but I have no regrets in regards to my divorce. I am just tired of meeting "Mr. Right Now".

When I go to the store shopping. I take off and go without the kids. Seeing all the couples there and me standing there trying to figure out how to feed my children and keep a house going with so little time to do it all. I think I need a vacation but you see a lot of couples at the beach or any where else you might go with kids. I am ok. Just get lonely sometimes.

They are similar and then they are not. In my experience, divorced people are treated worse than widowed. I had some friends that were actually my ex's friends, turn their backs on me, especially husbands, after the divorce. The wives actually were friendlier, but the husbands, what do they think, divorce is contagious? Anyway, I was good at reading the body language.
And in some social places, too. "What is your status?" Enough said. Why do they even want to know?
I'm over that now. It's been back in the 90's... like centuries ago.

I feel alone all the time!! I feel alone when I'm in crowd because like everyone else says, you look around and there is couples around you but I feel like everyone is looking at me and they feel uncomfortable because they don't want to bring anything up about divorce. Or any subjects regarding those issues. I also hate being alone because it give me time to think about everything. I already analyze everything so being alone doesn't help. I try to work alot but it hasn't helped lately!!

I feel alone when I am home and the only one to talk to is my dog. I was alone when I was married, seemed she always wanted to run around with her girl friends than come home and have dinner with me. I told a co-worker one evening to have a great night and he said whatever. I told him at least he had a wife and family waiting for him all I had was my dog. I think he realized then that he did have it better than me. I have been divorced now for 3 years and it does bother me if I want to go someplace special and wish I had someone to share the experience with me.

Holidays are the worst. Through the week I got work and friends. But, Halloween was bad, I got nobody for thanksgiving and I'm not looking forward to Christmas. But I have to stand by my own convictions. I wanted the divorce due to her cheating....I guess I'd rather be lonely than walked all over.

I think its worse than, because with passing on there is a small amount of closure. Divorce I see my ex and the guy she cheated on me with almost everyday.

I'm so busy during the day that when I collapse at night I actually think it's NICE to be alone, to have quiet time to THINK! Maybe I have some twinges of loneliness then but they don't last long.
I think it is beneficial if you are comfy in your own skin, and don't think it's a reflection of something wrong with you because you are alone.

I don't mean to sound flippant but try church. Join a divorce recovery class. It WILL help. You will realize you are not alone, you are in good company. In a divorce recovery class you can open up about your feelings and everyone is sworn to secrecy, not to repeat anything they hear in the class.

very funny^^ I would have to agree with OP .. social functions are a good reminder that you are alone....I don't mind it most of the time but things like wrapping gifts late at night for the kids or thinking about a vacation to Disney land or when my children do something silly there is nobody to give the "did you see that look" to make me wish I had someone to share those experiences with.

Every weeknight. I get my kids every weekend so then I feel closer to normal. Closer to how it all used to be. During the week its rough though. Work all day, come home, unwind and just sit there alone. That's when the mind starts running with should've, could've, would've.
Then that feeling and want to have someone around who understands you and you can have a simple conversation with sets in, followed by the realization that you're alone.
