Have been riding fifty years...
First slipping the clutch & rolling into the mortised world was on a All-State (Sears & Robuck) moped,12 years old, the worked 253 hours washing dishes @ ninety cents /hour washing dishes to purchase a Ducati 125cc Bronco, 13 years, third bike, 1966 Honda CB77 SuperHawk 305 having one more horse power than a new Volkswagen Beatle ...
Over the fifty years I have many British & European motorcycles...
Purchased, really traded guns for it, 1974 ElectroGlyde, in storage...soon to unmothball and fit a sidecar ...
I collect m/cycles, originally was going to buy & sell making hobby a business...but I guess I have become a hoarder...
For me there is not one favorite marquee, but vintage BMW's are my main rides... Dependability my first attraction, cruising speed, 30k miles/year rally's/buying trips...
Of all of the BMW's I own, my favorite is a 1971 R60/5, 600cc bike that will run 95 all day, second, 1990 R100
Paris-Dakar...dual sport, 9.5 gallon fuel tank was my first attraction....tubeless tires on wire wheels...
I plan on purchasing a 2015 Indian Chief Vintage... It will be the first new bike since 1966 I have owned...
So, my favorite bike is really what ever bike I am presently astride...
Ride Quickly/Often &like your invisible ...

I've owned a bunch of bikes (other than the modern sportbike type, they just don't fit me well ergo wise, tho the performance is crazy!).
Currently I have a 78 KZ100 for the street and an 84 Xl600R for exploring the trails, etc. Both are fine bikes & almost bulletproof.
Thinking about getting a modern muscle bike/cruiser....but I can't decide which one!

They,(Sport bikes)are more comfortable than you would think, especially at speed.
My favorite MC is a Harley. These bikes have consistently made my shop money for about 11 years.

Bend over for that, the inner primary cover has to be removed. Request the starter drive seal be replaced at the same time, you will thank me later.

How about a Vespa?
I would like to have a vespa, just to ride around town on, but here, you have to have license, and insurance on them, and wear a helmet, and safety glasses, too much of a hassle

I've been riding since I was a kid & have owned dozens of motorcycles. No single one ever did well everything I wanted to do, so I've always owned several if I was able....
Current stable includes:
84 XL600R Honda (big Enduro four stroke)...great woods/fire road exploration ride.
78 KZ1000 Kawi (one of the original liter muscle bikes)
69 650 Lightning BSA (old school Brit sport bike)
Had some great fun as a lad on the early 70s two stroke twins/triples...the RD400 Yammy & H2 750 Kawi were standouts, tho they left a bit to be desired in the handling department.
Offroad (I raced open class cross country/enduro events, mostly), my favs were:
CR 250 Elsinore (my first 'real' dirt bike)
Husky 430 XC (great all-rounder desert ride)
Maico 490 (insane...so wrong it was right)

Got a 2003 Harley Davidson Superglide. Love it can't beat the reliability. First bike(and still have it) is a 69 Honda Z50 minitrail. First street bike was a 1972 Honda CB 750 with a sissy bar, king and queen seat and custom 70's paint job.

I don't mind Harleys for just cruising as long as they aren't insanely loud.
Used to have a CR1000 Cafe..cool bike, handled OK for a Harley. Not the fastest thing tho.
Wouldn't mind trying the modern version....

My 09 KLR650. I have 40,853 on it. It's just as nice as a big bike for long rides. I added some foot pegs forward of the engine for stretching out. Made a throttle lock using the little metal thing on the end of the handle bar. A pretty damn good idea if I say so myself. The reason I chose a dual sport was my mom lived two miles out on a dirt/sand road. Thirty miles east of Barstow Calif. I live in the north east corner of Oregon and have ridden it there and back several times. Loved every mile of the rides too.

Sence the early 1980's I don't know of a realy bad bike being made of any brand?
I may be wrong but they have all seemed very good to me and it just boils down to ones likes & dislikes and we all have that

The KLR is probably the best all round bike ever made.
They are great if you do 90%+ of your riding on the street.
Offroad they are way heavy and have a vunlerable radiator in tip overs.
I prefer the big air-cooled 600/650 thumpers for durability...but the KLR is a fantastic bike, no doubt.
