Cool wish I could be with you...I did a bus round trip some years ago. You see so much and meet people. It was unbelievable..don't remember the company name. I only went to a backpacker in Auckland and found there ads. First I was looking for a car, but bus is so cheap and funny people around. Lots of memories of places, people, beaches, glaciers, kiwi and even penguins etc.

I think they still have a tour there where you can see where they filmed :Lord of the Rings.
Also be aware that everything there costs twice as much as in the States because it's all imported.

Yea that's about the only activity that I dismissed.

I've done about anything else, from vulcano hiking, sandfly beach, glacier tour, geyser to whale watching and so much more.

I've spent ~two months, with about every third night elsewhere. NZ is a backpacker country unlike the US. First time I was in NY, around 15 years ago, I couldn't even find a cheap accomodation, now that was a silly experience! Prices are comparable and surely not the double. Simply hop off the bus at a backpacker, there was a bus every morning that you could take if you felt like.
So those two months were not only the cheapest I've ever done. But also the most action packed, people meeting, viewing most etc. probably that I'll ever do.

I guess you've already returned from you NZ trip(?) Hope you got to visit The Fox Glaziers, Milford Sound, Waiheke Island, Christchurch, Queenstown, and many other beautiful places in both North & South Islands of NZ. There are too many to mention.
