Is Farting a Sin?
I have a great concern regarding this question.
First of all I was told that sin is habit forming and I don't know if this situation falls under the category of sin, habit or something else.
If it is a sin, it is something I have developed since puberty (often as a cause to celebrate with my friends).
For example the types of celebration were comments such as the follows:
"Wow - pretty good for a half inch speaker." or
"Speak - Oh toothless one." or
"Dearly beloved - we are gathered here." or
"I can do better than that." or
some other 'brilliant' comment affirming the activity.
If that celebration is akin to reveling in sin - many of us are sunk. Having believed for a long time that there was nothing wrong (but actually RIGHT) with the aforementioned act and the celebration thereof - I could have seared my conscience to the point where I didn't know right from wrong. AND having been so deceived (partly by my own celebratory attitude and the association with others who affirmed it) I may have lost sight of the underlying moral issues.
In my theological studies I have been unable to find any guidance upon this subject but it seems of paramount importance because of the doctrinal stance of heaven and hell.
It makes no sense to burn in hell fire unless there is a body to burn - Spirit is intangible and therefore the fire issue would be irrelevant. If habitual bodily functions, undisciplined and habitual are detrimental spiritually then those same habits will continue after death.
This poses a great and frightening thought. Because 'natural gas' is primarily methane and mentane is extremely volatile the pain of hell would be excruciating. My clothing would burn off quickly leaving my flesh to be subject to the flames.
According to scientists there needs to be "Time - Turbulence - Abundance of Oxygen and high Temperatures" to sustain a constant flame.
Time is eternity - Turbulence is the vociferous tempest of the Fart itself - Oxygen must be present in abundance and God must have lots of that and of course the Temperature would either sustain itself or grow under these conditions.
The realization that methane is so volatile is the real concern. Most of the normal burns would attend to the outer body, the skin, which although it is there for the protection of the body from outside penetration it is inadequate as a flame retardant. The soft inner lining of the anal sphincter is a completely different matter. It is not designed to be exposed to the temperature fluctuations of the outer layer of skin. It is set to function optimally at 98.6 degrees F. (the normal operating temperature of the inner body). Methane will burn at a much higher temperature and will 'flash burn' before the fart is completely exited the rectal opening. It will therefore burn up into the abdominal cavity as long as the fuel is being supplied.
A 'great fart' could therefore become a disaster - INTERNALLY.
If any theologians have some information on this subject I would appreciate it because in truth I still like celebrating the production of abdominal expiration of wind. However, because I want to make sure I am not living in self-deception and going down the path of self-destruction some advice would be appreciated.

Einstein was thought to be metally delayed by his teachers and so was Mother Teresa whose teachers suggested she was not particualarly adept.
He had nice hair and she had nice eyes. Does that qualify for sexy?
She was assertive to the point of aggressive towards JPII until he had a small house built inside the Vatican for her. Persistent, argumentative, bold, coupled with compationate, gentle, and a juxtaposition between submissive and overpowering. Was she sexy?
If a similar kind of lady showed up in my life (and wasn't a nun) I think she would be really sexy. Passion, spirited, truthful, persistent, unassuming, totally without fear and expecting the best from others around her. That would be a treat to be around all ther time.
I might turn out to become a gentleman, or at least less of a barbarian.
